• Contrasting Sequel Main Character: Although Yuzu has some similarities to previous female main characters, such as being a Nice Girl with an Amazon Brigade deck of fairy-types and powers, but she serves as a contrast to the previous main character girls, such as being the Deuteragonist instead of just a supporting character like Kotori. Unlike Anzu, she is a Girly Bruiser Action Girl instead of a Tomboy. Unlike Asuka, she does not struggle with being a female duelist and for the most part avoids being put Out of Focus, the Synchro Dimension arc notwithstanding

You know what, I'm taking a chance on this. The moment I can get back on Crunchyroll (password problems), I'm watching this. I'll try to talk about it here.

A'ight, first episode done.

1. Good lord, another missing father? Who actually has parents, as in "plural", in their life? Yugi lives with his grandpa, Yusei's an orphan, Yuma's father got backstabbed and scarified by Dr. Broly. Judai seems to be the only person who might have parents but he's at a boarding school all the time so we never see them.

2. So Yuya, who I am resisting calling "the tomato boy", has an "goofball entertainer" shtick. I haven't been filled with the urge to punch him yet so he's got that going for me.

3. Dueling as I've seen from the various animes does not lend itself to scrambling around for extra cards. Let's see how this system plays out later.

4. He just rewrote those cards with new effects. This is blatant cheating.

Yusaku from VRAINS seems to have parents plural, but as you've probably by the "seems too", he never talks to them.

Yugi has a mother in the manga, but she only appears twice and his father is always away on business.

She also appears in the anime but for SOME REASON 4kids removed her. LOL.

Wait Yugi's parents are alive?!

She makes a silent appearance inn the dub watching over his soulless grandpa in the hospital. Given the lack of context I thought she was a nurse XD

I'm starting to become fond of Sora, the little crap. Is this the sign of a disease?

What episode are you on?

I jump around a lot. I'm currently on the episode where Sora duels that Raidraptor kid in the tournament.

I've gotten through most of the initial episodes, mostly skipping Yuya's duels to qualify for the tournament except with Gogenzaka.

I'll let you see for yourself, since I don't want to spoil anything, but if you've seen the first bit of it, you'll see that things are really getting started now.

Oh, no. Who could have thought the kid whose deck is based around fusing cute stuffed toys with edged weapons to become Five Nights at Freddy's monsters was actually kind of a bastard?

Seriously, Sora, you flipped pretty throughly into being a villain. You are aware everybody can hear you ranting about your "teammates", how "you're all prey in my hunting game", and that "you'll be hunted for eternity"?

Synchro Dimension, Fusion Dimension, XYZ Dimension.

Where's the Ritual Dimension?

Doesn't have a series based around it.

Yeah, knew the answer the moment I asked. Though Yu-gi-oh! GX is not so much as based around fusions as it's the main tool in Yuki's arsenal so I can sort of get that.

Still, would like to see a Ritual dimension since they've made an Odd-Eyes Ritual monster.

Edit: Yes, it was probably years after the show ended.
