Episode 6: Stampede’s introductions for Livio and Eye of Michael. Loving the strain in Wolfwood’s voice here.
Seems like Legato's power is straight up electromagnetism, and not electric strings this time. And for some reason he has a thing about his hair? And is Razlo still gonna be a thing?
Oh, there's Legato. With a slightly different power set than the other versions. Not really sure why, the manga version was both more interesting and made more sense
I do very much appreciate this added backstory
Wasn't expecting to see the Bad Lad gang again. They were very much the epitome of early, campy and plot-irrelevant Trigun
Much like Monev, Livio here is essentially a completely new character with a slightly familiar design. Though that could change if Razlo is still around
The Bad Land Gang does look very campy with all those neon Christmas lights stuck on them
I went back and watched the 1998 anime for the first time before catching up on the last three episodes of Stampede, and boy am I glad I did.
The 1998 series isn't perfect, but when it works it really works, especially when things actually start happening in the back half. But good god does it really take its time, Vash doesn't fire his gun until episode 5. Now I can appreciate that kind of expansive pacing and it serves well to showcase the characters (namely Vash and Wolfwood), but I can also appreciate Stampede getting straight to the action and establishing the core conflict immediately even if it means rushing to some major developments.
Episode 6 kinda won me back a bit after the lackluster previous episodes. I get that Trigun: Stampede is trying to be it's own thing and not retread the same beats but with a modern shinier, modern look, but I'm still of the opinion that things are going too quickly and that it couldn't hurt to follow the original's slower pace, at least for a bit. There currently isn't very much mystique about Vash's history here, nor with knives, save for the nature of their powers.
Then of course, there was the big change regarding Wolfwood's past the guy's probably younger than 14 years old in this version! That was pretty neato.
That is because episode 5 is were the manga starts so it really should be the first episode, for me I will said it works because it show that aside of being a goof Vash CAN actually show his hability.
Or rather the first four episode show why he is vash, the 5 show why he is stampede.
"My Name is Bolt, Bolt Crank and I dont care if you believe or not"Episode 8: Flashback time to Vash growing up as part of Ship Three. Also, he has a very sharp spoon.
So the expedition crew and Rem have no idea how Vash and Knives were conceived, aside from being born from the (now female and probably alien) Plants. I don't wanna suggest some rule 34 went on between a human and a Plant, buuuut...
Episode 10: Drunkard senior reporter was never long for this world, but he will still be missed. Maybe Milly will finally appear, too.
This is not where I expected things to go.
i. hear. a. sound. This is... not entirely dissimilar from the manga's endgame? In some ways, the biggest difference is that Stampede is almost entirely on Knives' side
Even with Knives, the driving motivation between the Stampede and manga versions are somewhat similar.
The thing that has been kicking ass the most in this episode is the BGM. Mmm.
Not all that suprising, but this cour was a prequel all along (not to the manga or OG continuity, but its own in terms of how it handles crucial story beats).
Yup, given what happened in the last episode for Stampede, season 2 was inevitable. Excited to see Milly again!
Huh. Huuuuuuuuh. What just happened was simultaneously very early in the manga, very late the manga, and just entirely original
I'm guessing the next season sees Legato take over as the main villain, and we get versions of the rest of the Gung-ho Guns. But I have no idea what to expect in terms of over-arching plot
Unless you are referring to Knives supposedly dying (which I think his fate is ambigious), the July incident happens early before the events of the original manga and anime.

One of Vash's reloads in the last episode reminded me of Grenadier.
With a "0", not an "O".Did Vash reload by throwing the spare bullets from his massive cleavage.
Akira Toriyama (April 5 1955 - March 1, 2024).Well, more of the throws bullets in the air and catch them in your revolver.
With a "0", not an "O".Equally physically impossible.
Akira Toriyama (April 5 1955 - March 1, 2024).
So far the changes have been “good” or rather they don’t ruin the story, though as Hylarn mentions we still need to see how some of them pan out.
