The anime fans are freaking out, but it's not that far off of the manga. Like, the main event of the episode didn't happen, but the more somber tone is accurate, as is having some information on the overall plot. It is moving faster on that point, though
Wonder if they'll get to the Space Opera portions of the manga that the OG Anime never got to.
The opening scene with Rem gives me hope, becaue the space portions of the Trigun manga is epic as hell.
Watch SymphogearSo, where can I watch this legally?
Did they get JYB back to voice Vash?
Akira Toriyama (April 5 1955 - March 1, 2024).Crunchyroll has the streaming rights to it.
There is no English dub for Stampede yet, so we don't know.
Ah darn. Cool.
Akira Toriyama (April 5 1955 - March 1, 2024).It's on Hulu too.
"They truly were a Aqua Teen Hunger Force"Not liking the remake too much so far, feels like they’re rushing things too much and relying upon the viewers being aware of the original’s story - a no-no for intro episodes from 20+ year old properties. Oh, and that cluster missile is the slowest I’ve ever seen in any media, period.
Also, the Japanese-to-English translation work has me wondering if the guy responsible is secretly better than he’s letting on, or just happened to make a hilarious mistake. Because who in their right mind would name two map landmarks “Fool’s Piss” and “Sage’s Piss?”
Johnny Yong Bosch is reprising his role as Vash for the English dub of Stampede.
Shit.
Vash was my first experience with Johnny Yong Bosch as a voice actor.
I remember I kept seeing the name, and thinking I'd heard it somewhere before, then finally realized I was listening to a damned Power Ranger.
To say nothing of when Mona Marshall showed up, doing her Izzy voice and yelling shit out loud.
One Strip! One Strip! From what I heard, Johnny was the only one who got called to reprise and he never told any of the other cast members he was gonna do it.
A lazy millennial who's good at what he does. For Badland Rumble or Stampede?
"They truly were a Aqua Teen Hunger Force"NDA's are weird, I wouldn't be surprised if sometimes (possibly even most times) cast members aren't able to talk about their roles even with other cast members in the same show without explicit permission.
Former.
A lazy millennial who's good at what he does.Episode 2: Think the CG for the chase sequence is a bit iffy. I get that it’s supposed to be cartoony, but some of the movements feel like they’re missing frames, and Vash seems weightless.
Anyhow, cool to see the Nebraska Family again, even if there’s only two of them this time around. Or I guess, one left by the end of the episode.
Episode 3: Knives is back and yes, he goes on a murder spree.
Way better animation compared to last episode, too.
Once again, Vash proves to be a Walking Disaster Area wherever he shows.
Ep 4: Seems Wolfwood's been outed as a villain already. Love how his cross is much more of a gun this time around, and feels like a production Throwback to Yasuhiro Nightow's own Gungrave.
Watch SymphogearIndeed, interesting choice to reveal that already. Nicholas’ cross gun is also way cooler this time around.
Once again, more-or-less in keeping with the manga. Wolfwood is revealed to be working with the villains early on, and Zazie is a genderfluid avatar of the sandworms. Manga Zazie didn't stay villainous for long, though
Not entirely certain that Zazie and Wolfwood are working for Knives, though
The worms are much more coherently realized than their manga counterparts
They specifically point out that Wolfwood healed very quickly. Are we getting the Eye of Michael?
Roberto uses a derringer... That's supposed to be Milly's thing. Normal assumption is that he's going to die and she'll take up his gun, but I'm not sure we really have time for that. Is this two-cour?
Grey is apparently a full robot, which is an anime thing. Pity, the manga version was absolutely insane. Presumably the 'Ninelives' part now means that there's nine bodies?
Still missing Legato, and I have no idea what he'll be used for when Knives is perfectly willing to run around on his own
Episode 5: Monev the Gale comes back with a surprisingly tragic backstory. We got conflict between Vash and Nicholas over how Nicholas headshot the poor sap. Mmm. Monev’s design is wicked cool, way cooler than the manga version haha.
Uh. Well, this is stuff that was pretty late-game in the manga. And involved Wolfwood, not Monev. Though I guess that's still kinda true here? I suppose this is in keeping with their mission of fleshing out manga ideas, since it was pretty much entirely off-panel originally
Don't know why they changed Monev's name
"I'm an angel". That's a pretty massive change that I don't know what to make of
So are these "good changes" or "what the hell" changes?
It sounds like they're changing the endgame a lot, and this isn't 1:2 with the manga.
Akira Toriyama (April 5 1955 - March 1, 2024).So are these "good changes" or "what the hell" changes?
Dealing with the plant religion stuff earlier means that Livio's arc isn't going to be the same. Which is fine by me. The Eye of Michael stuff took way too damn long in the manga. We also get to see a lot more of how the religion actually affects people, which is a good thing
The other major change I mentioned we'll have to wait and see for
It sounds like they're changing the endgame a lot, and this isn't 1:2 with the manga.
Vash, Knives, and Wolfwood are the only things that aren't significantly different between here and the manga, even as it tries to flesh out the manga's world. But that could still be enough to do something recognizably similar to the manga's ending
For better or worse, Stampede is definitely shaping up to be a completely different beast. Keeping an open mind since this looks to be a loose adaptation rather than a beat-by-beat adaptation.
Episode 1: The CGI is very fluid, as with all of Orange's work. Like what I am seeing with Matsuoka's performance. Still kinda of two minds on Stampede in general; will need the entire season to judge it as a whole.
