I read the little kid novelizations of several of these movies when I was in Elementary school. The one about the giant mantis. The Blob. Creature From the Black Lagoon. I'm not sure what else.
But I haven't actually seen them on film.
And Golden Ages are declared after the fact by noting where the current conventions come from. If people forget about the 50s Golden Age, they'll declare some other time like today the Golden Age.

It's really weird that the comics and movies from the 50s are "the Golden Age." I don't think anyone is gonna say the old Action Comics or The Blob are the zenith of writing.
But I love the sci-fi/sci-fi horror from this decade. Even the sillier stuff is fascinating to watch because the world and culture being depicted is so different from what I grew up with. Plus some of these movies have enduring effects on later masterpieces. Films like Alien drew clear inspiration from Golden Age cinema.
So does anyone here enjoy these assorted classics? Would you care to share any recommendations for a new enthusiast such as myself?
I just finished watching The Beast from 20,000 Fathoms. It was quite good and the Rhedosaurus looked cool. Kinda felt bad when they killed it. And speaking of influences, Godzilla fans owe that movie a thank you for helping to inspire the King of Monsters.
Back in the day I also saw Them! and The Black Scorpion. Them! was a superb film.
