Started watching Season 2 of The Guild and was immediately reminded of Video Game High School, and I still hadn't finished the second season of that. Then I realized: They're both about gamers and they're comedic. Ho!
So I figured, compare them, and figure out which is better. They're both comedic, live-action web series, focus on a group of gamers, feature a slew of non-existent video games, parody video game cliches. Felicia Day was already an actress with a role on a familiar show and, as it turns out, is an avid gamer; while Freddie Wong is a famous filmmaker and competitive gamer with a horde of popular video game parodies under his belt.
VGHS has more Deep-Immersion Gaming with gaming being a part of the education system, while The Guild's premise is about the gamers adjusting to real life. VGHS has a bigger budget, and with it a lot more special effects, whereas Season 1 of The Guild supposedly overtook the planned budget (they ran out of money after 4-5 episodes), and nearly all of the scenes (thus far) have been live-action, with occasional special effects.
The Guild Season 2 maintained the tone of Season 1: vulgar, silly, depraved. The opening animation, and with it their budget I'm guessing, was improved.
VGHS Season 2 has a lot more silliness than Season 1. The length of each episode increased considerably.
