Let me preface this by saying that no, I am not an antinatalist. I was just watching some videos a while back, saw this, and got to thinking. Basically, the video argues that it is more moral to just stop reproducing and end the species rather than allow the population to continue ballooning and straining resources.

Again, I don't exactly subscribe to this, but I must confess it crosses my mind in my darker moments, when I read of the seemingly bottomless and irreversible greed and corruption in the world. So what do you guys think? It is said that a truly intelligent person would never endorse this, and would devote energy to solving the world's problems instead of just saying "fuck it," but try as I may, I can never get such a sentiment to feel as true and correct as it should.

Thoughts?

EDIT: So aiming for a more clinical discussion of this kind of thing is still no good? Right. My apologies.

This conversation topic is specifically forbidden by the forum rules. Take the depressing self-genocide talk somewhere that is not TV Tropes.
