Start of episode: YEAH!! TOURNAMENT TIEM! IT'S TIME FOR SOME JOUSTING ACTIO-

>swimsuit contest

|:

that said, I did want to see celia's thing

and mio's eraser carving impressed me more than ear picking(why does noel even use ear picks? every time i've seen non-east asians pick their ears, they used cotton swabs instead so I figured it wasn't really a thing they had)

I want to try hugging winford-kun now too

Episode 10. In which it begins.

That slow motion pose works less well with short hair. And it may distract her from realising where she puts her feet.

Nice to see their father being nice. Much too often people like that are just vilified for not enjoying what the main characters enjoy.

She wonders how lonely it must be at the top, and how she could help her. Then she turns around and leaves her alone.

Time for him to make his choice. And they all make it so easy for him, surrounding him all at once. And of course, he gets interrupted. But then, unexpectedly, he takes the time to give them all advice. But not saying anything about who he'd partner up with.

Lots of shiny armours.

Good cat!

"I've never seen that look on her face before." Well, she's smiling. That's unusual.

Someone who fights because it's fun and not to win is usually the first to go. Unless that's what the entire series is about, in which case she will make it to the finals, where she either loses have tons of fun and become the spiritual winner, or wins because the opponent is just in it to win.

"Go to your friends."
"Okay." *stands still*

Next, I'm hoping Akane will take down Celia. That'd be more unexpected than Akane losing because her wrist hurts.

DOUBLE FEATURE ATTACK!!!

Episode 10:

  • Someone's not honest with himself.
  • Takahiro's choice is to give everyone advice. Wait, that's not his real decision.tongue
  • The joust begins!
  • Fiona didn't want to cheer for Lisa. Sasami would have none of that.
  • Triple Attack! Impressive, Akane. But...
  • Now, Lisa and Fiona are true friends. I'm glad.smile

Episode 11:

  • Wow. Bertille actually hit them.tongue
  • Akane vs. Celia. It ends as expected. If only the Triple Attack skill wasn't so taxing...
  • Bertille and Mio. Forever rivals, forever friends.
  • Noel gave Celia quite the challenge. And someone's finally honest with himself.
  • And a cliffhanger!? Makes me want to believe with all my might that a major upset occurred.

Episode 11. In which it leads towards the end.

Thwapping someone over the head gotta be a little more painful if you're wearing gauntlets. Either way, I like the way those three interact. Both mocking and adoration from those two, and Bertille isn't actually oblivious to it.

Celia vs Akane was even more disappointing than I expected. Called it, and then some. No tension at all.

Bertille vs Mio couldn't have ended any other way. Basically giving Mio an easy path to the finals without sacrificing anyone important and pretending she's got it as tough as everything else.

The cliffhanger stands for the only tension in the episode. I want Noel to win, with the support of her father, but every battle so far has dropped anyone who reached their plot point, and giving some lesson about losing.

Episode 12:

  • Aaaaaand Noel lost. But some things were gained.
  • Final stage montage! Why did they go that route?
  • The underdog, or darkhorse, would push his/herself to the limit, and at the end of the day, he/she would be victorious. This isn't such a story.
  • No victory parties? Not even a parade around town? It really does suck to be on top. But that's why they're here. Enjoy it.smile
  • Takahiro decided to be a begliter for horses. Next time never, ladies.tongue
  • TAKAHIRO, YOUR TRUE FACE HAS BEEN REVEALED! I'm shocked. SHOCKED!

Final battle aside, nice ending.

The final joust sucked. Ah, well.

[up][up]Spoilers.

Episode 12. In which Takahiro is forced to make a choice.

So predictable. Though on one hand, it was a good idea to tie up the plot with Noel's family like that. First, I never did like Noel's reason for wanting to win in the first place, as I've mentioned, and second, showing her father that Mireille wasn't permanently hurt sort of invalidates his dislike for jousting in itself. Which was more interesting than Noel's quest for victory anyway.

Kind of odd that they're all gathering when the purpose was to tell him that he's either being a begleiter, or he's out of the school. That's sort of the thing you do in private.

I find it interesting that the one calling him by his last name is the Japanese girl. Which follows relative cultural standards. Which makes it stick out among all other things.

That thing with Celia fell incredibly flat. It's kind of, "We think about you here, at a distance." Which was the problem in the first place.

"Who calls you that?" I found the answer to that pretty funny. And right in character.

Okay, it's really lame to have a musical montage at the finals. Really. That was badly done. And aside from Takahiro's intervention in an early episode, probably the worst depicted duel in the series.

I actually like that Celia won, though.

You know, throwing a surprise party and expecting the victim to make a toast before she's even recovered is kind of mean. Not that she shouldn't be able to handle it, but it's still mean. In a friendly way.

"What's this about a promise?"
"Does it matter?" (Walks away.)
That's one of the most awesome responses he's made in the show.

Bertille is cute sleeping like that.

So, he's finally forced to make an answer. And he books it. I usually don't like avoing answers, but he's so obvious about it it's funny.

The hat blows off in the wind. Yeah, it ends.

In that final skit, he comes off as somewhat submissive. Not very knightly.

What is a knight if not submissive? Well, I know that kind of knight isn't the point in this show, but still...

I actually liked the final battle montage as I feel the important part was the journey not the actual result. Overall I liked the way the series ended and I did enjoy the series overall.
