Must jurisdictions have a Law that when you buy a product it does what is says on the can.
Andre Rieu's band is the "Johann Strauss Orchestra."
Do we need a Law about using Dead men's Names?
Anyone can set up a Strauss fan Club because you ain't claiming to be super-dooper talented. But "Strauss Orchestra" written on the can IS a claim to super dooper talented.
IMPO, Rieu's band is good enough to deserve the title, but YMMV.
We need a Law that people know what they are buying so false advertising is verboten. But do we need a specific law about dead guy's names?
It is moot in Rieu's specific case. There is enough Rieu music on the Inter Web that People know what they are buying.
Please consider the general case of claiming dead guys' names?
