It's bustling around here.
We've got:
- two popular live-action comic book adaptions ongoing (Arrow and Agents of SHIELD), lots more upcoming (quality may vary)
- a book adaption (Game of Thrones, which I've heard nothing but praise of)
- CBS powerhouses Person of Interest and The Mentalist are only 1 or 2 episodes away from some kind of major story climax
- Breaking Bad, a hugely popular series, ended not so long ago
- new BBC Sherlock season only a month away from premier
At least there's no shortage of decent material.
After a really long dry spell in the 2000s, there are some pretty good shows on air. Sadly there was also at least one which was awesome but cancelled after just ten episodes (last years Missing), but otherwise I have more shows I watch than I had in years. And I don't mean just the casual "if I'm bored I might take a look" watch but the "I am totally obsessed over this show" watching. It is also the first time for a long time that shows manage to hold their quality pretty long. Leverage went out on a high note, which is very, very rare. I also like that there are shows which try to get away from the old structures. Grimm and Arrow are both very grounded for a Genre show and a superhero show, Sherlock is a totally new format, the history channel tries a new approach with Vikings...there is so much to look forward to, currently.
IMHO; A mixed bag of terribly unfunny sitcoms, Crowd pleasing Action hero series, and Disney channel crap that's made from real painted fecal matter.
Dakota's blog An odd agent of justiceYeah, I admit the success of various sitcoms makes me wonder...but then, this genre is always going strong. There is also this tendency to do remakes of old shows I don't get. But nevertheless, there is a lot of good to more than make up for the bad.
The Walking Dead is based on a comic, so make that three popular comic book shows.
You guys like Let's Plays? You guys like shameless plugs? Well, come on down!
I have been hearing much news about animation. Majority about fans complaining. But, what about Live Action material? Is it doing any better? We know that North America cares about it much more than animation.
I still hate The CW for getting Reaper the pink slip.
Yep, I'm still here.
