On a gray, drizzly morning in New Jersey, a college sophomore rests her elbow on her desk, blowing a stray strand of hair from her face as she stares blankly at the computer screen in front of her. The green cursor seems to mock her, daring her to type something. She simply glares at it.

Suddenly, a loud beep from her desktop intercom rouses her from her state of listlessness. The all-too familiar voice on the other end is none other than her boss, "Uncle Marco", or "Boss" to everyone else.

*"Hey! Wake up!"*

Carmen glances around, wondering how her uncle knew she was lightly dozing, as he was locked away in his office going over "paperwork". After a moment, she presses the button on her intercom and responds, "I am awake, Uncle Marco... Just bored."

*"Well, stay alert! Nobody wants some tired broad answerin' the phone when they got ghosties tearin' up da' joint."

"Yeah, yeah..." She released her finger from the intercom button and returned to leaning on her desk, staring intently at the phone, hoping it would ring.

"Tell me of thy progess, Yssad."

"All goes according to plan, Mistress. We need only place the totems in thier assigned places, then begin the ritual. You will soon return in your full glory."

"I hope you are correct. For too long, I have lived amongst this filth and decay, in this weak mortal shell."

"I assure you, Mistress, we will not fail. We have made much progress in your absence and we will make all haste to facilitate your return..."

A few blocks away, Jameson was slumped on his couch, all around him was empty beer cans and goverment conspiracy papers, he blinked awake, yawning and walking into his bathroom.

Man oh man, this had to be the best day ever. Not having to work the graveyard shift for the tenth straight day was a nice change of pace of course. It made you overlook the fact that your new living space wasn't much of an upgrade over the crappy apartment which you'd previously inhabited. Less roaches though, even if it literally did count as living in a warehouse. And also you could overlook the lack of actual work so far. That wasn't what made it such a great day though. No, that was reserved for a very special piece of news.

The newest edition of Tobin's Spirit Guide had been published and one Esther Markowitz had just gotten her copy in the mail. She was geared up for some serious reading, hanging out in her 'office' which consisted of a cubicle made of parts recycled from old office equipment salvaged from failed businesses. A big cup of coffee sat on her desk (which was littered with various papers, books and handwritten notes) as she flipped through the entries. Nothing remarkably new, though there were some better color images to accompany some of the entries now. On her desk was also a framed picture of one of the original Ghostbusters, whose existence had inspired her own path to the profession.

"I can't believe they misspelled Zuul again," she remarked to no one in particular, "Guess their budget's been drained from editing."

Rutgers New Jersey Medical School Dorms

A tall tan well build young man of italian or hispanic origins returns to his pad after brisk morning run carrying a newspaper. The dorm is nothing fancy but well looked after.

"God and I thought central park in New york was bad! That street vendor looked right at me! Well better start looking for some part jobs to pay the bills before mama's trust fund dries out.'

Jameson trudged in, looking like a Kurt Cobaine wannabe. He looked around the Ghostbusters HQ. "No one talk to me." He groaned, "I'm hung over and broke. And pissed off." He wandered over to the cubicle to see the girl digging into a book...that bullshit guide. "What are you whining about?"

Carmen glanced up from her desk as Jameson entered the Warehouse. She huffed at him and muttered, "At least you can drink..." She was about to add something before 'The Hammer' stepped in behind his fellow Ghostbuster.

He brusquely edged past his counterpart, then nodded to Carmen. "Nice morning. Any calls?"

Da receptionist shook her head. "Nah. Nothin'."

"Mm," was Hammer's only reply. He stepped inside and headed toward the breakroom.

As Carmen was about to return to her conversation with Jameson, the phone rang. In her haste to answer it, she nearly dropped the reciever but she recovered rather quickly.

"Ghostbusters Newark, how can-" She suddenly jerked her head away from the phone as unintelligible screaming could be heard on the other end.

She adjusted her glasses before returning to the call. In a calm, yet firm voice, she replied, "Sir or Ma'am, we can't help you unless you calm down."

More screaming.

"Ma'am, we-"

Even more screaming.

Finally, Carmen responded in kind: "HEY! WE CANNOT HELP YOU UNTIL YOU CALM THE HELL DOWN! WHAT'S THE PROBLEM?!"

She blinked in surprise as the line went silent. After a second, she held the phone onto her shoulder with her cheek as she began typing. After a few nods, "uh huh's", and a "We'll be there right away," she hung up and pressed the intercom button. Her voice rang out throughout the Warehouse:

"Alright, listen up, Busters! Gateway Paper Company's got a haunted elevator! It seems to have a mind of its own, and a couple people have gone missing! Get going!"

Hammer stepped out of the breakroom and punched his palm. "Alright! Now we're talkin!."

Carmen then dialed Giuseppe's GBI-issued pager.

She tapped her intercom button again. "And pick up Rodrigues on the way! He's probably at school."

Jame paused. "A haunted Elevator?" Of course Obama was behind it...possibly a bioweapon designed to possess physical mechanics? He shrugged, walking over to pick up his gear. "I take it I won't be driving this time?"

Giuseppe goes to answer his pager on his belt and then expresses surprised it when he realises it's not the hospital. It fumbles out his small but box filled dorm looking for his GBI pager under his medical text books and other student possession.

'They finally got something! Yippee!" he said happily.

"I thought Maybe jersey was out of *gulp* Ghosts.'
