Teufort, Badlands, New Mexico
Day 1

The day had started much like all the days prior to it had. Things at the two facilities facing each other across a small runoff spanned by a bridge had become so routine that both sides knew the dance by heart now. Every day, these two facilities were used by their respective corporations to forward important messages, documents, and sometimes even design blueprints to certain locations. Of course, said transmissions were vulnerable during this transfer to, say, an enterprising individual getting their way down to the facility's basement and taking a copy. Thus both corporations had come up with a couple of countermeasures for this.

The first was to mainly send decoy transmissions, either misleading or straight up useless information, or even just random garbage. This meant that in order to be sure they had gotten something useful through all the trash, opposing agents would usually have to take multiple transmissions in a row. The other was to be sure and do it while the other facility was busy doing the same thing; the idea being to force the other side's mercenary team into splitting their attention between defense and offense, without realizing that this subjected their own team to the same thing.

But today was a little different, even if none of them had noticed yet. The day started with their usual teeth brushing, meditations, gun calibrations, and breakfast. Somebody on one of the teams got the bright idea to take their breakfast out to the battlements, and have their meal outside. That was all fine, until someone on the other team thought of the same thing. Then one of them started shooting at the other, who called for help, which arrived and started shooting back, causing the person on the other team to also call for help... Soon enough things spiraled into their usual full on conflict, with both teams going at it in earnest. But there was still that matter of what they hadn't realized; every day, when they were supposed to start fighting, some old lady on the broadcast system told them so. Today, she hadn't, but they had yet to realize that.

Then there was one other thing nobody had realized, thanks to a more forward approach to defense on both sides that was stalemating things rather nicely. Because of this, nobody on either team had actually been down to either of the intelligence rooms yet. If they had, they would probably notice that there was no intelligence there.

Having been fighting since breakfast, the time was now reaching early afternoon. The mercs working for Reliable Excavations and Demolitions managed to get their Builders' League united adversaries on the defensive, and a well coordinated, if ultimately poorly executed, all out attack on their part managed to get everyone on both sides killed except for Tux and Mr. Andrew's nest of buildings, and unfortunately the Spy had to drop his disguise in front of said nest to shoot the last BLU opponent. A quick quantum sapper throw got the whole nest, but not before the sentry managed to gun down the Spy as it went through the air.

And then, silence. No gunshots, no explosions, no screams of pain, no beeps of idle Engineer buildings, and no shouted taunts, just, silence... For about ten seconds, then everyone respawned in their respective spawn rooms.

The first thing to probably come to their minds was to get back out there and back to fighting against the other team. Thus it was entirely possible they would miss or overlook the little blinking light in the corner of their spawn rooms...

Spencer cracked his neck, running his hand over his face just to make sure it wasn't blown off. He hated respawning, all the same, he made sure Clicker's clip was full before sprinting jumping onto a platform, running outside and leaping onto a stack of crates, using that as extra height to run up the wall onto the top of the Fort, he walked forward and went prone, putting on his headphones as he waited for someone to click.

"Woo! Team of Awesome strikes again!" Rio threw himself off the platform. He loved respawning- that rush of extreme nausea got him pumped every time, "My stomach acid promises to be good projectile! Oh yeah! Up and top!"

Rio held his hands up for the customary team hand-slapping, but the Sniper (and the team at large) paid him no heed.

Cletus held his right hand up so that Rio could do that high-fiving business, but he like always, he was too slow. Sure, everyone liked being all fast and zippy and running around, but one day, one day they'd need to reach something on a top shelf, or throw a mule, and then they'd regret leaving him behind. Also they'd probably come running back when they realized they left without getting any medical assistance.

"Giddy up!" he said to himself, starting to hustle as best he could out of the spawn area. It was likely those who ran off wouldn't even hear him.

Victoria respawned a bit shakily. After getting her legs blown off, her new legs hadn't gotten adjusted yet. She prepared her spell for casting, and decided to sit in the base. She then noticed that the room was... redder than usual, for the RED base. She found that a little light had been turned on, but had thought nothing of it, since she prepared her flames. Victoria ran outside, ready to bake her enemies.

"Darned spys and their sappers..."Alex said to himself as he respawned along with the BLU team in the spawn room, still being shaked up by the shot from the spy that sapped his buildings and killed him.

He left the spawn before he took out his toolbox and placed his Sentry gun in a spot of the BLU base courtyard where it could fire at any RED team members that would come near the entrance of the intelligence room..now that he thought of it,his teammate really need to take the enemy intelligence, but he needs to focus for now in setting up his sentry.

He layed the toolbox in the ground, before the toolbox opened and his modified sentry gun, nicknamed by him "The Big Bessie",started setting itself up.

"Sentry going up!" He yelled,as he started whacking the sentry gun with his Wrench, increasing it's building speed.

Upon rematerializing, Hanzo's eyes snapped open. For a moment, he simply stood there, staring intensely into space. Then, slowly, the Ninja turned his gaze to the fellow red spy to his left. For a few seconds more, he simply stood and stared into Tux's eyes. At last, he raised toward the spy a sign, which read:

"Sap the sentry BEFORE shooting the engineer. MORON!"

That expressed, Hanzo put his sign away and dashed off. Running out of spawn, he made a left toward the battlements. He pressed his back upon the shanty wall that preceded the open ground of the battlements. Carefully, Hanzo peeked his head out and took a quick look at the enemy base...

Flintlock took in a deep breath as he felt the respawn return him to life. He'd have to figure out how it did that one of these days. Not today, of course, but someday...

He glanced around the respawn and saw a light blinking in the corner of the room. He considered investigating, but came to the conclusion that if he was expected to know what it signified, he would be told. He shrugged at it, and left the room.

Once outside, he took the blue staff with a metallic blue crystal on the end out of the holster and ran off to find some nutball the heal/beat up.

Spencer groaned, There was the Pyro that had set him on fire. He looked down the sights, measuring so a shot would strike her right through the head, He smiled, "Click." and pulled the trigger.

As the Blu team ran past him, Rio shook his head with a smile. How lucky he was to have such a motivated team!

He tossed the bat into his hand. It was time to get cracking. Rio adjusted his faded cap, and skipped off towards the bridge.

Tux adjusted his tie, shaking his wrists so he could get used to coming back to life after being shot not once, but multiple times. And also blown up. He thinks. He could never get a clear grasp on how he was killed. It was just pew, ouch, dead, click, respawned. The British spy reached into his jacket's inner pocket and pullet out his cigarette case, taking one and lighting it up. "Oh, I'm sorry I didn't follow procedures. I was too busy not being dead like you." Tux said to Hanzo. " Tosser. " He added under his breath.

So began another life. He looked over his disguises, checking the cardboard masks he had made of the enemy team's members. "The Engineer shall do for today." He said, looking out at the window and smiling. Afternoon. Which meant it was the best time to use his preferred pistol. He was about to walk out of the spawn room when he noticed something on the corner of his eye. A blinking light. "Now now... are you supposed to be here?" He asked the light, carefully approaching it so he could then not-carefully poke it.

Rio would hear a whistle, a very familiar whistle. One that was followed by the sound of a soda can being opened, followed by the gulping sound of someone drinking, a satisfied "ah", the sound of someone crushing a can in their hands and finally the sound of the can hitting the ground.

Oh, yeah, and the sound of a loud belch.

If he turned around to the direction of these sounds, he would see a familiar girl, squatting on top of the bridge, her cap covering her eyes as she crossed her arms under her breasts, accentuating them to grab the enemy Scout's attention. The Scout looked up, and her bright blue eyes caught Rio's eyes, and she flashed him a smirk.

"Oh, seems like our friend here has a death wish." She said with a thick New York accent. Her smirk turned into a sadistic grin as she reached for the baseball bat on her back, holding it in front of her like some sacred weapon. Sandy Smulders was ready to play, and by play, we mean turn Rio's head into a bloody messy pulp.

She liked doing that to Rio. She liked fighting him. She liked chasing him. She just plainly liked the enemy (maybe it was the accent). And that just made killing him over and over way more fun.

"Wanna play, buddy boy?" Sandy said, lifting her cap just a little, ready for the messy fight that was about to begin.

Spencer glanced up, noticing a Red scout crouched with a baseball looking at...whatever his name was, He shrugged, the Pyro could wait, He shifted his aim, so he was aiming for a headshot, and with a pull of a trigger, the bullet went flying towards her skull.

Sandy remained in the same position, grinning at Rio, until she suddenly crouched, the bullet whizzing past her. She looked at the Sniper and shook her finger and her head simultaneously, before she jumped into the bridge, the roof over her head acting as her protector. "Now, where were we?" She said to Rio as she got into a fighting stance.

Cletus finally got out to the battlements, and saw that sniper feller... sniping. He fired up his healing cannon and pointed it at Spencer, starting to overheal him. He leaned against the wooden wall to keep his back safe, and chewed on a piece of hay he had grabbed from the piles outside of spawn.

"So..." he said, trying to make small talk. "How's it going?"

RED spawn

Tux's press of the little blinking light did nothing, but now that he was closer he could see a little faded and dust covered label underneath the blinking light. It read 'INCOMING MESSAGE'.

That was strange. Usually messages for the team were just said out loud over the speaker system by the old lady. Actually, this may start to remind Tux; had she even said anything to them at all today? Well, if the message wouldn't come in over the load speakers, then it would probably be taken somewhere downstairs; that's where all that special electronic equipment was, after all.

Flintlock slipped through the downstairs of the red building. He really, really hoped that no one would find him.

"huh, havent got this lost since... Actually, I dont think i've ever got this lost looking for the intel. Ah, well. I'll find eventlly."

He opened a door and found himself in a room filled with elctronic divices. he walked up to one pressed against the wall... and proceded to trip, and fall behind it.

Tux took a long drag out of his cigarette. Well, seemed like his best pistol would have to wait. He caressed it slightly before putting it back on the other pocket inside his suit (That suit had a crapload of pockets, and all of them carried a lot of stuff. Italian suits. The best!) as he walked down the stairs to the intel room. "Hello?" He said once he got down there. Who was he talking to? He had a great defense on his team.

... well... "No one here, then?" He yelled, before stepping into the intel room. "Bloody fantastic. A Spy, asking if there are enemies around. Oh, fantastic, now I'm criticizing myself!"

RED INTEL ROOM

While Flintlock may have missed it being lost, Tux would definitely notice something off in the intel room.

There was no intel.

There was also a console with a little blinking light on it over to one side.

...

"Oh bloody hell."

Tux walked over to the desk, trying to search for the intel. Did it get stolen? But he didn't hear the old lady telling them it was stolen. It didn't even seem like it had been there. Flintlock would see the worried Tux scrambling for the intel, until he reached into his suit, pulled out his pistol and pointed it at him. "You know, not a good idea to sneak up on a person who's been hired because they're really good at sneaking up." He said, narrowing his eyes. "Where's the intel? Give it back and I'll kill you quickly."
