"Have a good day. Have a good week. Have a good month. Have a good year. Have a good life." ~CiviaI am so not surprised that that was designed by a person on the Internet.

It's Shantae. It works.

Jeez. I just read a review that tore the ass out of Pirate's Curse.
Well, they need to hand the ass back.
Forever liveblogging the AvengersAnd add in an extra ass as an apology.

And then kiss said ass. Because the ass is insecure and needs a show of affection to feel better about itself. Because it's an ass.

Well, this has taken quite a turn.
On my wave, passing oooooooonHey, it's not like it's the first time a topic has been derailed around here. I'm just honored to be a part of it.
Funny how the conversation went from a 280-word comment to "buttocks" within one page
And to think I started it all off by accident.
At any rate, here's the review that made me do a double-take.
I think the one thing he said that I agree with him on is that as the series' art style has evolved, it's also gotten less interesting; I liked Matt Bozon Shantae much better than Generic Anime Shantae. It's just that I'm not willing to preemptively condemn Half Genie Hero as a step in the wrong direction yet.

As far as anime goes, it's not that generic, really.
If I may be honest, I actually think the new art matches the sprites better. The older art is a bit... not quite there.
Visit my Tumblr! I may say things. The Bureau ProjectThe review wasn't one hundred percent wrong, of course. I just disagree with the general gist.
I didn't mind the stealth section but I know other people didn't like it.
The final dungeon was a bit 'are you kidding me?!' but it didn't really feel like trial and error since I was able to do many parts in one go.
Personally, I like the art.
For one thing, yes the overall plot is more about Risky than Shantae. Which gives us hilarious moments where Shantae tries to bond with Risky or just is an overall pain in the ass.
But I don't draw weird fan art and I thought Risky backstory was interesting.
And its also Shantae and setting backstory because sealing the pirate dude is the reason why her genie mom is missing. Shantae even has a 'you psuedo killed my mom!' moment.
Forever liveblogging the AvengersI'm finally on my way towards beating Risky's Revenge, and I have to say... for how much of a fan I am of the game's style, Pirate's Curse is the only game in the series so far that I really enjoyed. I sure hope they model Half-Genie Hero more after that one.
WELP. 100%'d the game in some 10 hours across 3 days.
This game sure had a strange tendency to make me feel like I'm trying too hard. Like, I found the sarcophagus on Saliva Island before I actually had anything to do with it, and I'm not sure if it's even SUPPOSED to be possible to get that Heart Squid up on the tall tree without the cannon, but, uh, I did it anyway. Just two examples of me accomplishing something only to realize later that the game would've railroaded me there just a bit later or I would be getting the tools to do the same thing more easily.
Man, that final boss, though! Who knew you actually NEEDED those game-breaking Auto-Potions at some point in the game! I don't know if I just have very particular strengths and weaknesses (my performance in the various rooms of the final dungeon would say yes), but there are some patterns of his that I just never figured out how to deal with while others were a complete non-issue... but when everything takes two hearts, that's quite bad enough! Not sure how much it feels like an accomplishment after burning through so many Auto-Potions and healing items, but it's not like I could just tank every hit without having to do anything for it, so I guess it's cool!
Looking forward to Half-Genie Hero. I wasn't entirely sold before on some of the characters that are apparently going to be playable, but finally actually playing and finishing a game in the series solved that problem.
PS: By the way, I'm really happy to see the petrified couple is okay, but, uh, HOW?!
