My Zootopia self would be a fox like Nick, and my friends would be a leopard and red panda (both female).
If you play with fire, you're gonna get burned. We call those 'fursonas', friend.
She's not wrong, though.
The movie ALMOST became subject to Too Bleak, Stopped Caring.
If you play with fire, you're gonna get burned.I mean.. an entire plot following predators who live their every-day lives unable to express their emotions or else run the risk of getting a constant electric shock doesn't make for a very happy movie.
Uh...something about the original draft involving shock collars that were used to tame predatory species, and uh...pretty sure this site has something to explain it better than me under What Could Have Been, also Nick was the main focus instead of Judy.
If you play with fire, you're gonna get burned. That's kind of why they dropped the idea,it was'nt a good idea for a disney movie
New theme music also a boxNgl, constantly shocked by how many YouTube comments I see insisting they should’ve gone with that premise. Feels like it would’ve been too much. But I dunno, it’s probably just a Vocal Minority.
"Let’s see who’s stronger: someone that has something to protect, or someone that has nothing to lose."Honestly, this movie has one of the most interesting original-idea-to-finished-product pipelines I've heard of. From generic spy movie with animal characters, to theme-park based racial oppression, to a disenfranchised cop trying to save a pop concert, to ending up at the actually workable premise we saw... Even with all of the artifacts we ended up with (seriously, Gazelle was supposed to matter. They didn't intentionally throw all of that money at Shakira for just two minutes of movie) it came to a remarkably cohesive whole. Even considering the amount of bad-faith actors determined to turn an anti-racism parable into "OMG they mean blsck people are the predators, right?!?!!? So the people calling to end racial discrimination are the real racists!!!?!"
And yes, I will always judge anyone with that viewpoint as either as closet racist and eager to tear down any equality messages as hard as possible, or someone who is so anti-Disney that they will twist any morals to be awful because the corporation behind something is more important that the thing itself, which is beyond my pay grade.
Or people who are too dumb to get metaphors, but they're easy enough to shut down.
I like Beastars more.
Death is a companion. We should cherish Death as we cherish Life.I almost read that as Beast Wars. ^_^;;
Flora is the most beautiful member of the Winx Club. :)The people who try to see the predators and the prey as allegories for specific races in real life miss the whole point of the movie - The point is that ALL racism and bigotry is bad regardless of who does it. The fact that some people are so quick to decide that the predators are supposed to be black people frankly says more about them than it does about the movie - If anything, you could argue that the OPPOSITE is more true based on the N-Word Privileges scene between Judy and Clawhauser.
The movie shows a lot of BOTH sides being assholes to each other for being who they are - Judy is looked down upon for being ”too small” to be a cop, Nick is treated like crap just for being a fox - and it’s presented as bad every time because THAT IS THE POINT: We should STOP treating each other like shit for who we are.
Yes, some are indeed too dumb to understand metaphors, but it still infuriates me that there are so many people who apparently needs this to be spelled out for them.
… Then again, perhaps the ones who do need it the most are the ones who are unapologetic assholes who wouldn’t care either way.
My AO3 profile. Let sleeping cats lie and be cute and calming. So I recently watched The Angry Birds Movie on Netflix (which is one of the best movies from 2016 in my opinion, coincidentally next to Zootopia) and I had a thought that had been bouncing on my head ever since I decided to do a fanfic inspired by All in One Watching their movies and reactions, where both Angry Birds Movie duology and Zootopia will appear. Namely, do you guys think that Bellwether's mindset of predators and prey could drastically change after watching Angry Birds Movie where pigs want to eat birds eggs? Because Bellwether most likely sees pigs as prey, which could mean that she would be quite shocked of the fact that these pigs are essentially predators due to wanting to eat unborn children of the birds.

Zootopia seems to ignore that many animals are both predator and prey.
That might actually be part of the overall message; that the distinction between the two isn't totally solid and ultimately doesn't matter.
Disney100 Marathon | DreamWorks MarathonAfter reading All in One Watching their movies and reactions where Judy freaking out by the butts is depicted as a Running Gag, I started to headcanon that Judy has pugophobia, fear of butts.
After watching it again, I kinda feel annoyed at the whole "preds going wild" because it happened instantaneously.

Hi everyone, new troper here and this my first post on this discussion.
SWEET CHEESE AND CRACKERS. We finally have release date: November 26, 2025. Post your sequel ideas below. I personally hope that sequel will focus on birds and reptiles, since directors confirmed the existence of avian and reptilian cities. After seeing this fan-art when I was searching on Google fan-arts depicting birds, reptiles, sea mammals and primates in Zootopia, I personally think that the sequel's tritagonist should be a snake, to avert Snakes Are Sinister stereotypes, in similar way the first movie handled Foul Fox stereotype. But what are your ideas? I will gladly read them and respond to them.
