Marty saw that the doors ahead of him were his next obvious move. He saw that a wooden door could be easily traversed, so he drew his blade from his hip. Slashing at it, he made many cuts into the door. Marty kicked down the door's remains, prepared to enter the room ahead.

Sarah Harrison, All-Seeing-Eye Central

She smiled, it seemed she was right, and she was in fact part of some cult. Interesting... and silent, so silent it was iffy... She began to wander about, in silence, imitating her brothers and sisters. She felt drawn upon the larger door and came closer to it with the intent of examining it.

@Savato

The thing ignores your question. The voice replies, "Mm, no, you are not of them, you are one of them. In that case..." It pauses a moment to think before continuing, "I will allow you to witness the ritual that will introduce my kin into the earth to swallow your likeness, those great disappointments, but if you do not desire to do so, and I admit that it would be a grim sight for your kind, I shall remove you from this place, promptly. I will do so regardless, only, after the spectacle. What say you, human? I shall not keep you here against your will, of course."

@Theodore Hastings

There is no button pointing up. You push the wall and little happens. Upon pressing the actual button, the door immediately opens, revealing not a standard elevator chamber, but a void of utter blackness. Nothing can be seen inside whatsoever.

@gogojojo 33

"Change... back?" the woman says, after helping you to your feet, "I really don't know what you mean, you moon people have been like this as far back as I can remember. Well, in light of the circumstance and your obvious delirium resulting from whatever event has occurred to cause the death of what?-every other member of your kind in the palace?-I suppose I can give you a break for a few hours. Do as you please within the castle, I have much work to do to take care of whatever your people have done. Including why you haven't died. Such an annoyance."

She makes to leave the room, her hair brushing against the archway as she does so.

@daltar

"Idiot dog!" the insect-lady spits in disgust, "How dare you question a Vitarian? You should know better after what you've done. But if you are so imbicilic about geography, I'll have you know that there's at least a day's walk to the nearest port, and we want you off of this island. And if you don't make it in time, we Vitarians get free reign of you. Hell, I'm doing you a favour, Princess. Now move!"

She pauses for a moment and says, while holding the chalice tighter to the boy's head, "Oh, and I think I'll keep this one. He'll be helpful around the house, that's for sure. Huskies are so strong. In body, at least. Their minds, though, they're easy to break, especially at such a young age..."

Some of the huskies are in tears at this, and the others quite angry. Still, they do nothing to stop her.

"Get over here, Arkyn," says the matriarch-looking husky, "don't try anything. You've already caused enough trouble by sleeping in."

Basil and the Door to Darkness

Basil stared in utter confusion at the oblivion before him. Not even with the natural light scratched the abyss, which told the ex-con to keep as far away from the thing as he could.

Taking a step back, Basil decided to investigate the other doors in the hall; the ones that appeared insignificant before. He walked over to the door on his left and knocked on it. If no one answered, he would just have to force his way in.

Elizabeth Maxwell, Choices of Life and Death

Seeing the little huskie shivering in fear as that ugly bug lady threatened it made something snap inside Elizabeth. She knew that right now she should hold her head down and march along. To go with the group, obey what was being said and try to piece together what is happening. This is the most logical course of action to stay alive in this terrible circumstances.

And she wasn't going to have none of that. The moment she knew that little child was in trouble, in trouble she caused even if inadvertently, she knew that she would take him away from this situation or die trying.

She looked around... obviously this bug lady held some kind of power. There were so many of the dog people, all armed and looking so strong... And yet they cowered and listened to the bug. Why? Did she represent a mayor political power? Did she have forces which she had noticed yet? Did that chalice do anything special?

All variables she knew nothing about. And yet she must move. She took a few steps forward "Please... let him go. It was wrong of me to speak in that way... just let the boy go with us and we'll be gone never to see us again. Please..."

Begging. The first of her resources... the safest to use.

Charles and the Being

So he had a choice...
And it consisted of choosing between likely being royally screwed and probably being royally screwed.
Of course he just had to be trapped with the superpowered being trying to eradicate his whole species. And there was an entire race of them as well...
Dreading the answer, he decided to ask:
"So you're not going to keep me here against my will. Then why are you turning me and what I assume to be countless others into these...creatures and then kill them? Did they give you their consent for that? Because I don't remember doing so."

@Karrin Blue

"Of course, sir," the girl said, giggling a bit at your 'joke'.

She quickly rushes around the room, grabbing the staff, cylindrical container, and the pouch, giving them to you, bowing. Holding the pouch, you can feel a hard object inside with pronounced edges.

In the backpack, you find three bottles, one with red liquid, another green and another black.

"I'll be going now, unless there's anything else you need?" asks the girl.

@mrminun

The door was hiding a small room with six crude bunk beds lining the walls on either side. Clearly people lived here at some point, but that was a long time ago. Dust lines the torn bedsheets and rusty stains line the walls. A human skeleton can be seen slumped down at the opposite wall, the words, "WE GO TOGETHER", written on the cavern wall in frantic scribbles in what looks like charcoal. A piece of charcoal can be found on the floor. On an end table, a statuette of what looks like an angel, a beautiful woman with feathery wings, can be found. The statue's face has blood smeared on it, mostly on its mouth.

@sanojutsu

Upon closer inspection, the large door is intricately carved with strange designs. The most prominent is the massive eye that spans the entire door, the pupil of which is luminous, somehow, with a golden light. downward arrows point away from the eye, down upon an abstract landscape with deserts, forests, oceans and all manner of lands. tiny drawings of people react to the eye in the sky in different ways, some praising it, and some turning away from it, some in fear and some in suffering.

A man seems to be sleeping on the ground in front of the doorway. He is dressed in the same odd clothes as everyone else and is making no noise, breathing or snoring. Otherwise, there are no guards and no one seems to notice the door, or at least don't care about it. They just keep walking in silence, though a few have given you odd looks.

@Theodore Hastings

There is no answer. The door is locked. Forcing the door would be difficult as it is made of solid sandstone. It's possible, but you'd likely hurt yourself.

@daltar

"You're begging now!? Did begging save my parents!?" the bug lady snapped, "Did begging stop your people from working them to death in the mines? No. And it will not stop me now. It will not stop Vitaria. Never again will I see innocents crushed under the feet of brutes!"

"Please, Arkyn, you're just making it worse," the matriarch says again.

@Savato

The being audibly laughs, but his expression remains the same daft grin.

"You are mistaken. That is not the situation. These creatures were all created but moments ago. You are the only one transformed. And as for killing them, I would never think of doing such a thing. It is your kind that shall be forfeit... humans. My question remains. Do you wish to leave this place now or stay to watch?

Elizabeth Maxwell, Digging Herself Deeper

Elizabeth's mind worked in a frenzy, latching onto the words the bug woman threw at her, trying to make sense of the situation. She, the dog people were the aggressors? The bugs rose to overthrow us? The bug woman seemed to have suffered in the past due to her people...

But she still spoke of breaking minds. Of keeping slaves. Whenever out vengeance or simple sadism she wanted to keep the poor pup with her... and that isn't something that Elizabeth could allow.

"You say that now but this little boy is innocent as well. He doesn't deserve to become a slave for life because of what we did! Let him go... let us go now. Prove yourself to be better. We'll be gone and that will be the end of it"

"And if you must take someone... then take me instead of him. He has done nothing wrong"

Basil: Back to the Abyss!

Basil cursed under his breath as all his attempts failed to open the door. No one answered his knocks, the lock was too small to pick with what he had, and the door was too sturdy to break down. Heaven sure had a wierd way of keeping its security tight.

The other doors Basil tried ended with the same result. That left only the gaping blackness as a way forward...if that was even what it was. He cautiously pressed the button he had pressed before in hopes that something new would happen.

@daltar

The bug woman made something resembling a smirk and relaxed herself. She let the boy go and roughly pushed him back towards the group, though he didn't need any encouragement.

"You are right. Perhaps I was being irrational, and keeping him is against the treaty anyway. Run now, huskies. Go and never return to this land. If you stay, I will not be so merciful."

The other huskies begin to walk out of the clearing and down one of the paths through the forest.

@sanojutsu

The man does not react to you at all. The odd looks have increased in frequency.

@Savato

The being chuckles again, for quite a while.

"Fine with me."

He walks up to you slowly and puts his large hand on the top of your head. It is burning hot, though it appears to cause you no real pain. It seems like another, spiritual searing at his touch, as if he was invading your very essence for a moment. Before you can react, you are blinded by light and when the light fades, you find yourself in a completely different place.

You are now in a small cavern, dimly lit by the sun outside, which looks like it can be reached easily. Further into the cavern is a ladder leading down. There is little of note here, just rocks and water dripping from the ceiling.

@mrminun

As you get closer to the statue, feelings of foreboding and importance emanate from it, noticeably chilling your spine. Nothing concrete happens, though. On closer inspection, the angel has slightly more sinister features than can be seen from afar. Nothing specific, just the way the expression, the wings, and everything else are depicted, it feels inappropriate. Wrong.

@Theodore Hastings

As if responding to you pressing the button, something appears from the blackness. At first a hand, followed by the rest of the man's body. It was the man from before, and he isn't pleased.

"Has it really taken this long? You really are putting on the pounds, aren't you?" he said, tapping his foot on the ground, "Well then, come on."

The man began to turn to go back through the blackness.

@Sanojutsu

The people are still walking around the building paying you only enough heed to give strange looks. Otherwise, they go about their business, some hauling packages or otherwise working. It seems like these people spend most of their time here. There are even quite a few children in the place.

One of the people, a woman judging by her figure, runs up to you and hugs you for a moment before nodding and walking away behind you.

Elizabeth Maxwell, relief flooding the young woman

She did it. Somehow she managed to pull it off. It took quite a bit of begging but all that mattered was that the little huskie was safe. She didn't like the bug woman and was fairly sure she must be a despicable one... but still she gave her sincere thanks.

She then ran back to her tent, trying to pack it up as quickly as she could with the others before running after the moving the group heading into the forest.

That was one immediate danger crossed off the list... but now, there was still the terrifying situation of being surrounded by walking armed huskies while somehow being one of them in an unfamiliar land. She tried to keep their pace, noticing the strength of her new body as she kept her eyes open to take in as much as she could about her situation.

Marty - Don't blink

Marty got a good look at the statue in front of him. He kept his eyes trained on the hideous statue, and he decided that his sword could be dulled a little bit more. He slashed at the statue giving off a strange energy, hoping that it wouldn't harm him without its head. With the statue in pieces, he turned around, and went to get closer looks at the skeletons. Was this a ritual suicide? He might not find out.

@sanojutsu

The woman you hugged seems startled and confused as she hurries away into a nearby door.

@daltar

The forest on either side is so thick that it begins to get a bit darker, and whether it is getting closer to nightfall is unclear.

As you walk down the path with the Huskies, the male leader comes to you with his great walking stick and begins to speak in the same broken English of the insect-woman, "Arkyn, I'm proud of what you did there, though your mother may not be. What you did showed great strength. Also... I know that this is a difficult time for us, to put it lightly, but you seem very off today. More than I'd expect. You are talking strangely, like some priest or something. It's strange."

@mrminun

After you turn away from the statue, a gurgling sound can be heard. Looking back reveals a small puddle of flesh-like liquid forming on the floor where the statue's pieces fell. The liquid bubbles and increases in size quickly, forming gradually into a human shaped form, becoming more detailed, almost looking real.

The strange creature has a frantic expression in its new eyes, darting around the room searching for something. It picks up the charcoal piece and begins trying to shove it through its own throat, though it doesn't seem strong enough yet. It makes no attempt to attack you, strangely.

Elizabeth Maxwell, Lying

Arkyn. That's whose body she was in. The person whose place she had taken. A princess of huskies? One who caused pain to the bug people? So many questions she had... but should she reveal herself?

These people scared her... warriors and armed near all of them, exiled and under a lot of stress and misery. She was meant to be important in some way, she guessed... how would they react to know that their princess had been possessed by some girl from London?

She couldn't say the truth... or at least not all of it. But she couldn't pretend to be a princess when she knew nothing of this world and with nobody to teach her. So... she would have to rely on this man. She worked her lie in her mind... and then took a deep breath to speak.

"I... I'm not well. It's why I took so long to come out of my tent. I don't know why, I can't understand it... but I can't remember near anything. My mind feels clear but my memories are as dark as this forest... Please, don't tell everyone... but I need help"

@sanojutsu

The only notable difference you can tell between yourself and the others is that only some of the others have swords at their belts. You may recall that neither of the women you hugged had swords.

The people continue to give you odd looks as you walk to the other door.

As you get closer, it becomes clear that the smaller door is much more simple than the large one. It is just a large arched plank of wood. It is high-quality wood, surely, but there is nothing particularly special about it.

The door is being guarded on either side by people dressed similarly to you, and wielding beautifully decorative, but seemingly quite deadly poleaxes, shined so as to reflect every eye in the room, clear as dawn.

@Theodore Hastings

As you touch the darkness for the first time, a great chill permeates your entire body. For a moment, it feels as if you don't exist, all thought and progress halting. Depending on how the moment is looked at, it is simultaneously a split second happening and an infinite stretch of time, with nothing to show for it. Regardless of your perception, you eventually find yourself walking into a small room of sandstone. Behind you is the blackness that you came from. In front of you is a pedestal with twenty buttons, each labelled with a Roman numeral, beside which stands the man from before.

"My, you do look shaken up!" he says, "You look as if you've seen a ghost, good man. I would be worried, but we are in a hurry, so..."

He presses the button marked "III" and begins to walk towards the blackness again, about to go back through.
