Help Writing the Morning After

I'm trying to write a fairly significant scene which happens to be the dreaded morning after situation. It's a significant scene in that it sets the tone for the two characters relationship for quite some time, and sets the main characters emotional struggle into motion, so it's really important that I get this right.

The biggest hurdle I have is that I've never been in this sort of uncomfortable situation, at least not in one where I had no clue about what the other person wanted or expected, like the characters I'm writing. Have you found yourself in this situation? Would you mind telling me what went through your head when it came time to face the events of the night before, and what the two of you did? Did you get over the awkwardness? Did it change your perception of your partner? Any anecdotes you'd be willing to share would be really helpful to me.

I tend to write at a very leisurely pace, and I like to go into minutia and introspection, so I'm fairly sure that what I'm writing may be or will be incredibly boring for some people. I've put my scene after the spoiler barrier, but you by no means need to feel obliged to read or give criticism. Its incomplete, so everything can be rewritten, altered or removed, and it's planned to be the start of a 10-15 thousand word chapter so there's plenty of wriggling room to explore other angles or approach this in a different (and hopefully better) way. If you could give me any feedback regarding trying to make Lauchlan's emotional state relateable and interesting would be hugely appreciated.

EDIT: okay, for some reason the spoiler tag isn't working for me so I've made a google doc here https://docs.google.com/document/d/1yuLYIKTPGRxYcZE61NLg3a2Tsq34YSs2dpoQWJbHeow/edit?usp=sharing

Honestly, the first thing you'd have to take into account for this kind of situation is the given personalities of the characters in question and go from there.
