My graphic novel will constain fighting with electic guitars in the name of Rule of Cool (other instruments will be featured too) and symbolism. I started to draw some, but is there any guide for drawing them? And I don't want to draw them either ugly or very simple (eg. giving everybody Flying Vs or Rhoads).

I suppose you could google "guitar drawing tutorial" or "guitar drawing guide" but if this is going to be a novel of any decent length, I'd really suggest just looking up lots and lots of various models of electric guitars and just drawing from those as reference (i.e. just copy the picture down with your pencil). Doing some practice of perspective and foreshortening might help a lot too, since any fighting scenes will have to involve more than a straight-on view of a guitar.

Basically, reference reference reference from a wide variety of photos (different types of guitars, different angles, different lighting, etc.) The practice really does help!

Yes, definitely try practicing drawing guitars from angles - make sure the neck looks correct, and keep going until you're perfectly comfortable with it. Depending on the make, you'll also want to pay attention to the surface detail - how prominent the bridge and pickup switches are, that sort of thing.

Lastly, take care when dealing with the headstock. You'll have a fairly large amount of detail work to do, and I find it especially easy to get confused by the angles there. Good luck and have fun!

Go to a music shop or ask around if someone has one they will let you look at then sketch away.

Don't rely on just pictures, especially online pictures. A music magazine or guitar catalog will give a far better model to go off of then a google search.

Supplement yourself with photos and online work, sustain yourself on live action.
