This is where the wealthy and powerful used to rule. It is their world... a world apart from normal worlds. These lives are normal, unchanged by the powers that be. However, in a single moment, the mind, soul, and memories of themselves from other worlds flowed into their own. These group of people have been known to be named…

The New Yale Brotherhood

Click.

A man with short brown hair, a black jacket, magenta turtleneck and black pants was taking a picture of the Central Park-like part of town with his magenta Blackbird Fly from his balcony. He kept clicking the shutter, taking more and more of the pictures. He would have finished, though there was a knock at the door. Tsukasa went over to open the door, as he saw a man in a black jacket, black shirt, and white pants with long and wavy black hair.

“Oh hai, you must be Tsukaasaa, huh?” the man asked him.

“And if I am?” Tsukasa replied.

“Well, I just wanna say how much I anticipate your contributions to the community. Hah hah. So, what’s your story?” He said, chuckling.

“I... I have none. I don’t know my past. All I know is that this isn’t my world.” Tsukasa said, now ignoring the greasy haired man and looking at the park.

“Hahaha, what a story, Tsukasa! Well, your roommate will arrive after 12. He’s a little rowdy, but if you open your mind, I’m sure you and him will have so much in common.” He said. He then gave Tsukasa his business card. “Call me if you need any help, okay?” He said. Tsukasa turned and took the card, reading it. The card had his picture on it, and on it read “Johnny”. The rest of his name was an odd mix of foreign characters that became difficult to spell and pronunciation. The thing that got Tsukasa shocked was that the card read that he was a landlord. For this very apartment. “I’m gonna go and check up on some other people. You weren’t the only person who moved in, you know...” Johnny said. With that, he left Tsukasa’s room. Tsukasa sighed. He then looked at his camera. He took enough, might as well use it.

The general idea is to have your character go about their routine. Johnny might pop in to check in on them.

Kido sat on the living room floor of her two bedroom apartment, sorting through the last of the boxes. Her parents had forced her to bring far more things than she had ever felt comfortable needing. Parents. That felt weird on her tongue. Just having these memories of parents she never thought she'd have felt so unsettling. Though, even that didn't make her skin crawl as much as not having her powers did. Her abilities had been such a big part of her for the longest time that it was hard to imagine her life without them. Yet... here she was, in a body that wasn't quite hers, living a perfectly normal life with no powers.

Sigh.

There was no helping it. She'd just have to get used to it. At least she wasn't alone in this. It was a small comfort to have Kisaragi around. Speaking of...

She stood up, dusting her pants off, "Kisaragi, I'm going to the store. Is there anything you want?"

The blonde looked up from her own box of stuff, "Ah, I'll just come with you, Leader. Just let me go get my hoodie."

Kido nodded, turning to head out the door while the smaller girl went to get that out of style hoodie of hers. She had just stepped out the door when she remembered something. "Kisaragi, don't forget to grab the keys!"

She hoped the other girl had heard her. In any case, it was taking far too long for her find that hoodie, "We don't have all day!"

Minutes later, Momo ran out the door, shutting it behind her, "Hah... hah... sorry Leader. I forgot where I put it while we were unpacking."

"It's fine, let's just go."

Momo nodded and agreement, moving towards the taller girl....

YANK.

Only to be pulled back towards the door. "Whha-! I'm stuck!"

"Seriously?" Kido moved around to see just where Momo was caught. Her hood had someone managed to get caught into the door. Only a Kisaragi would manage to have something as outrageously bad luck as that to happen to them, "Give me the key so I can get you out."

There was a long pause of a silence before Momo spoke up again, "I thought you had the key."

Kido instantly regretted any thoughts of comfort about Momo being here with her. She would have taken anyone else at this moment, even that idiot Kano.

"I told you to grab the key! Guhhhh...." She took a deep breath to calm herself, "Okay, I'll just pull it out."

"What? No! You'll tear it, Leader! It's my favorite hoodie!"

First it was an evil baby, and then an undead goddess that was technically married to a part of me... wonder what's causing it this time...

Yu sat at the small table in his apartment, idly folding paper on it like he did every morning. It gave him time to think, and reminded him of all the times he'd made origami back in Inaba. Even if logic was trying to dictate that he'd never been in Inaba at all.

His thoughts, as they usually did, were focused on his current situation and why he was stuck in it. This sort of thing had happened before, but both times he hadn't been immediately aware that something was wrong. He hadn't just woken up in a completely different location, with a new set of memories battling it out with what he already remembered. The disorientation had led to a panicked phone call, where his parents had reassured him that yes he did have an uncle and cousin in Japan, but then insisted that no he'd never went to stay with them.

Calls to his friends were next, but they had all insisted that they didn't know him and had never met a Yu Narukami in their life. He'd always been afraid of losing friends he'd made, and it seemed that this... whatever it was, was trying to play on that.

But, as much as it hurt, he wasn't going to fall for it this time.

There was a small group of origami cranes perched on the corner of his coffee table, and as his thoughts petered out he placed another small one amongst them to complete the family. His morning ritual done, Yu picked up his fishing holdall- a habit he had somehow managed to gain alongside everything else that had happened in Inaba- and stood up, heading for the door and pausing by the small TV on his way there.

He still stayed up until midnight, and hadn't desisted his attempts to go inside it, but nothing ever happened either way. He winced slightly as he remembered the last time his power had stopped 'working', but put the thought to rest. This life, whether it was real or illusionary, wasn't nearly as bad as his past experience had been.

He'd just have to wait. For Yosuke, or Margaret, or whoever else was going to pull him out this time. Yu hoped this wasn't about to become a habit.

There was a commotion on his way out of the apartment that he decided to investigate; he might've ignored it a year ago, but now it was a call he couldn't resist. He couldn't even be completely sure anymore if his time in Inaba was something that actually happened, but that didn't mean his transition to a help-everyone-out-with-their-problems guy was any less genuine.

Yu recognised the two causing the noise from occasionally seeing them on his way in and out the building- though his 'new' memories also told him that the girl was an idol of sorts (which brought to mind fresher memories of his own idol friend that made him smile a little). "Are you two alright?" he asked quietly, looking rather odd with the fishing bag slung across his back.

On the fourth floor of the Blue Bird Apartment, there was a certain door. It was unusual among doors because there was a scroll nailed to it, which is not what one generally expects to find nailed to doors. And on the scroll was a message. A proclamation in elegant Japanese script, with a suitable English translation beside it to hammer home the point to just about everyone.

天の道を行き、総べてを司る男。

Walking the path of heaven, the man who will rule over everything. The calligraphy was excellent. The sheer nerve took some beating. And behind the door, the writer was making a rather late breakfast.

"Katsuragi." The mouthwatering aroma of sizzling hamburger wafted through the air. Just like the rest of the apartment, the kitchen was impeccably neat, a result of his extremely skilled housework abilities.

"You should be grateful that I have deigned to cook breakfast for you, especially at this hour. It is far too late to be lazing around."

The speaker flipped the patty around, eliciting a new round of enthusiastic sizzling. He was Japanese. His delicate, handsome features (tousled hair, tanned complexion, lean physique, dreamy eyes) and understated voice positively dripped with superiority. Not the cloying, smarmy kind, the type that tended to rub off on everything in a five-mile radius. No, Souji Tendou's ego was mysterious, assured, inpenetrable, completely ridiculous and only partially justified. He was better, and he knew it. In cooking. After all, it took a special type of man to wear a flowery pink apron over his casual clothes without batting an eyelid.

"Mrgrlefrgle." The red-blazered figure currently splayed over the table like a limp jellyfish made some incomprehensible reply. He seemed to be in a state of despair.

Tendou nodded, as if he understood perfectly. He shook some more salt into the pan before turning around.

There could have been an angelic choir at that point. Dramatically, reverently, Tendou raised a finger to the heavens, looking up as if in enlightened invocation of some deity. What with his pink flowery apron, he looked quite ridiculous.

"Grandmother once said..."

"AGGGGGGGHHHHHHHH!" The cry of anguish cut through the air. Katsuragi Keima burst out of his seat and spun around, face contorted in some agony of emotion. Tendou, nonplussed, lowered his finger.

"Why are you stopping me? I don't need breakfast! My beautiful maidens are waiting for me in the 2D world!" He was the exact opposite of Tendou. Skinny, bespectacled, brown-haired. Still in a school uniform of red blazer and cravat despite not being in school.

"Trapped in that perpetual glitch... I will save you, my beautiful 2D Maiden! Wait for me! I'll soon be out of this imperfect 3D World!" He smashed his fists on the table, eyes shining, as if he were outpouring his great emotion through his extremies.

His target, being two steps away, turned back and flipped the hamburger again. Why did he not want to hear his grandmother's wisdom?

Katsuragi was always so calm. This was an odd day, indeed.

Winter and Leven were sitting on the roof of the apartment building, sharing some lunch away from their respective parents. As Leven was taking a bite of his sandwich, a modest ham-and-cheese, he suddenly stopped, a thoughtful look appearing on his face. "Winter...do you ever feel like...this isn't real in some way? Like you did...something else? Something, really important, that you just completely forgot?"

Winter looked at him, the same expression on her face. "Yeah...it's like something scratching at the back of my mind, that I can just barely remember." She thought a little more. "Does the word 'Foo' mean anything to you?"

"Hmmm...actually, yeah. I think it does."

"Interesting."

"Yeah. Do you remember anything about it?"

"Nope. You?"

"Nope. I just remember I was doing something important."

They continued eating their sandwiches in silence.

Miku was confused.

At first, this had seemed like her room. But then... it seemed somewhat different. Oh, the musical memorabilia was still there, but things were... different, and that was confusing. What was a lot more confusing was the memories of a totally different life she seemed to now possess. There wasn't really any explanation she could think of that covered that, really. Maybe she had just been having a very, very odd dream?

So, she had decided to go through her usual morning routine. Taking a shower, getting dressed, checking her guitar, having breakfast... and it was all very strange. Her home, which was an apartment, was like her normal home... but different. This was... this was so weird...

Miku, after some thought, decided the best course of action would be a simple one: Head out, take a walk around, and try to figure out what was going on here. Also, walks were nice, so that was a plus. She considered staying here and playing her guitar instead, but... well, that wouldn't exactly be conducive to figuring things out, and the early morning generally wasn't the best time to go playing musical instruments. As much as she liked to do so.

She headed out of her apartment and started down the hall.

Minakami Mai... was not easily confused. Even with a new set of memories and waking up in an unfamiliar place, she was taking things in stride. She did wonder what was going on for a moment, but decided quickly that finding something like that out could wait. No, if this was some new place... there would be new people unsuspecting of her. And she had to take advantage of that. Oh, she would've liked it if her friends were here too, but messing with anyone was generally fun. And Mai messed with everyone.

Her expression as she finished her morning routine displayed none of this. No, it was her same, usual, neutral expression that she displayed at almost everything.

Though there was one last thing she needed before heading out to investigate and troll everyone in the immediate area.

On her bedside table was a wonderfully-crafted wooden Maitreya Statue. She swiftly picked it up, and held it in her arms, hugging it to her chest. With that... she quickly turned and headed out.

It was time to see what the people here were like.

Inside an apartment- albeit one that was spacious enough to support three bedrooms and two bathrooms, were a lot of junk and boxes wedged throughout the place like some sort of puzzle game. The furniture was still under plastic coverings, appliances were yet to be plugged in, and the walls were a solid white color. Everything was in the house, but it was taking a bit just to unpack everything it seemed.

The only thing that did seem to be properly personalized was the bed- king sized with a simple styled quilt and much plush pillows scattered about. One of its inhabitants was still, though he wasn't asleep. With green hair, a slight frame, and an androgynous face, people would be hard put to guess the person's true gender at first glance. This was Enkidu, roommate to the owner of the apartment. At the moment he was content to just stare at the man sleeping next to him with a satisfied look on his face, eyes not blinking no matter how much time passed. As if on a whim though, the effeminate man's finger reached out and poked the sleeping man's. "Poke."

"Well, what do you expect me to do?" Kido asked and before Momo could answer, another person had arrived at the scene. The both of them turned toward the new arrival. Rubbing the back of her neck helplessly, Kido answered his question with a brief statement, "Ah, my friend here got stuck in the door and we're locked out on top of that."

"Uwaah... getting seen like this... so embarrassing," Momo lamented her bad luck by covering her face with her hands, "Leader, hide me!"

"You know I can't do that anymore. And besides, it's too late, you've been seen," Kido sighed, pinching the bridge of her nose, "As you can see, this child is useless."

"Right. Uh..." Stepping a little closer Yu took a look at where the hoodie had been caught in the door, trying to figure out how to get it out of there. If this was somebody at home (Most likely Yosuke or Teddie, his mind helpfully supplied) then he probably would've just pulled until it gave way, but apparently that wasn't an option here.

He scratched the underside of his chin in thought, turning his gaze to the door itself. "Do you have a window in your apartment? One of us could go outside and get in from there." He rather failed to see what was wrong with a stranger volunteering themselves to practically break into the place.

Johnny went down the hall, reading off the list of who to greet next. He noticed that as he was reading the list, he came across one of the rooms mentioned on the list. He took his eyes off and looked at the door and noticed the scroll proclaiming of a man who would rule over all as he walks the heavens. Who ever lived in here would be perhaps interesting, so he gave a little knock.

In an appartment near the commotion, a large man in a suit and fedora and a small man with white hair and abnormally sharp teeth were going over several files on a desk in their front room/office, which was a normal occurance for the two. Except that these two men had just the day betore been a six-foot dog and hyperkinetiky-rabbity thing. Alternate universes are strange like that.

The large man, Sam, scratched the back of his head. "So, we still have no idea as to how we've ended up in this bizarre alternate universe, with the bodies and memories of our alternate universe counterparts?"

The smaller man, Max, shrugged. "Pretty much, Sam."

Still, despite the obvious diferences(like species), there were some things this universe had in common with theirs. They were still the Freelance Police. They had still been best friends since childhood. They still took their orders from the seldom seen Commisoner. They were still friends with Flint Paper, Bosco, Doctor Momma B, and Sybil (although in this universe, she wasn't married to the giant stone Abraham Lincoln monument statue, but a man named Abraham Stone). And Sam still had a love of treats.

"All this dimensional tomfoolery is starting to make me hungry," Sam said, heading to the kitchen.

"You're always hungry, Sam," Max retorted back.

"Yeah, so?"

Opened the freezer door, Sam found it tragically empty. "Uh oh, little buddy. We're running dangerously low on Fugie Freeze Ice Cream Bars! Or any other kind of food for that matter!"

Max jumped up dramatically from his seat on to the desk. "Quick! To Bosco's!"

As the duo rushed out of their appartment, they were greeted by the sight of a man and woman trying to help a younger girl, who's jacket was stuck in a door.

"Hey there, little missie. Need some assistance?" Sam asked.

To say that the lobby door of Blue Bird Apartments flew open before Nyarko Thothe would be a complete understatement, it would be more appropriate to say that it had fled from her rampage of mundane excitement. Noise, that was what she tended to create no matter the activity she was doing. Give her a piece of paper and an pencil to sketch with and she'd find a way to raise more decibels than a jackhammer right against your ear. And she wasn't really even sure why she was excited. Well, she knew she was going to meet her groom-to-be (as she claimed) Mahiro. But she wasn't really sure why it was here of all places. What was the significance of this place? She apparently lived here, but somehow those memories seemed alien. Heh, alien. Miss Thothe loved aliens, had apparently loved them ever since she was a little girl.

She stampeded down the hallways with all the subtlety of a herd of agitated rhinoceroses chasing after a terrified tourist, a wide smile on her face and her hair whipping haphazardly in her wake. Chaos embodied was the best word to describe her, in more ways than one even, though of course she herself was unaware of the deeper meaning of her own chaotic nature. All she knew was that she was a crazy girl with a big mouth. No wait, she didn't even know that. To her she was normal and everybody else was just too dang quiet.

She ran past a bunch of people she didn't pay attention to, and straight up to a certain apartment door... She knocked, an action which sounded less like a knock and more like the demolition of an old Vegas casino.

"Heeeeey Mahiro I'm out here, let me in!!"

"Ahhhh." Mahiro grit his teeth. There was no question about the identity of the girl knocking on his door. Nyaruko. That annoying girl that has a crush on him. Sometimes Mahiro wondered if she would kill for him. The answer that he came up with? YES, she would. Even though she was study to be or was already a cop. He couldn't remember right now since she was banging on his door.

Crash.

Crash.

Crash.

"Go away, Nyaruko!" he yelled as he looked up from the kitchen table.

"But Mahiro you gotta let me in! I live here, remember?!" It was curious, really. Somehow Nyarko knew that she lived with him even though she couldn't actually really recall living with him in this specific place before. She continued her tremendous assault on the door frame, and if one squinted hard they'd see that bits of wood were actually beginning to splinter off under the strain.

Kido scratched her cheek in thought, "If I remember correctly, we had a window in the kitchen." There was a few things wrong with letting a stranger basically break into their house. But what other choice did they have? It wasn't like Kido could do it herself. Not that she was scared or anything. Nope. Not scared at all. Definitely not scared. No way someone like her would be scared of a silly thing like heights.

"Are you okay, Leader? You look a little pale."

The taller girl coughed into her hand, trying to look as cool as possible, "I'm fine. Totally fine. Let's go see about that window, yeah?"

She then turned to the two newcomers, "Oh uh, I think we got this."

"GO AWAY!" Mahiro yelled out. Alright, to be realistic, Nyaruko wasn't going to leave no matter how many times Mahiro said to leave. The evidence for that? She still continued to bang on the door loudly. If it continued, it would bother the other neighbors. What was he forced to do? "Aaaaah." he voiced his frustration, stood up and walked to the door.

He flung it open. "ALRIGHT, come in, but keep it down!" he just opened Pandora's box into his home.

Yu turned as they were approached by two odd men, but didn't speak. His knowledge of them extended to knowing they were residents here too, and that was about it. He wanted to say they were involved in some form of crime-solving, as they reminded him of Dojima and they were certainly nothing like his gruff uncle personality-wise.

Turning back as the boy spoke (though hearing their voice made him wonder) he nodded. "Right." It shouldn't be too hard to climb up to the floor they were on from the outside; he hadn't fought monsters or joined a sports club in this place, but he didn't feel any weaker than before. He started down the stairs, already trying to remember the building's exterior appearance.
