Thats because The artist for To Love Ru upped the fanservice level. Probably.
Watch SymphogearNot really. Certain things are handled differently enough that it didn't annoy me. For example the partner swap was Futoshi's and Ikuno's idea and it was for Mitsuru's health.

I find it a bit hilarious how in agreement people are about Darling.
To the point when Darling is used as a strike against Trigger, people scramble to say Darling isn’t actually a Trigger anime. It’s an actual black sheep.

"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."For the most part, it really isn't. Trigger really only did animation work for the first few episodes. the rest is all on Nishigori at A-1.
Watch SymphogearThat is certainly true.
It’s just the fervor people have at proving the truth of the matter is pretty intense.
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."I've never actually seen Darling, but isn't that the one where they pilot mechs doggy-style?
And yes, I am aware that KLK also looks utterly bizarre out of context. I'm just trying to figure out if I'm thinking of the right anime.
Should I post a link to Gigguk"s video about it for his sake? Gives him an overview of the series in like 10 mins.
A rose by any other name would smell as sweet Unless I grew it. In that case, throw it in the trash.A lot of the flak for Darling that I've seen is that it's apparently really hetero-normative and very much dismisses the idea of LGBT relationships or something of that nature along with the whole aliens things
(spoiler tag just in case)
It does have a strong pro-procreation message and the token lesbian doesn't get together with someone, so you're probably right.
Franxx's main flaw I feel is that it is pretty clear that the second half was a major case of Writing by the Seat of Your Pants, and the flow suffers majorly as a result. That, and yes, it did require more build up in the later episodes. And yet, I still find myself looking back fondly on it, if only because the stuff that I liked about it I really enjoyed, such as the relationship between the two leads.
At the very least, I think the manga is improving things massively in terms of the story, and I wouldn't mind seeing the show get the FMA Brotherhood treatment if it can keep up it's quality.
Is there any reason why Aikuro pronounces homo sapien as "homo sah-pien" in the English dub? Is that a regional pronounciation of the term, just the voice actor's pronounciation, or intentional?

The storm has now resided, the wolf now rests. It's the proper Latin pronunciation. He is a teacher, after all.
What's precedent ever done for us?I watched this show a couple years ago and loved it, and rewatched it again a few days ago and loved it again, and picked up on some interesting things the series does with sexuality.
The thing I noticed is that, despite the show being chock-full of sexual jokes, references, double entendres, and fanservice, almost none of them are actually, explicitly related to sexuality. Almost the entire cast is underage high-schoolers, and while they make constant sexual jokes and double entendres, they don't actually engage in any openly sexual behavior or actually talk about sexuality, it's all obscured behind double entendres.
The only high-schooler character who might actually have a fetish (to put it another way, a preference for a certain type of sexual contact) is Gamagoori, who is stated to be 19 years old because he held himself back two years, thus making him old enough to be making those kinds of decisions about his sexual preferences. Even with Gamagoori's apparent BDSM fetish, it's not explicitly a thing. It's just that his Shackle Regalia and Scourge Regalia heavily uses references and double entendres to BDSM to represent his self-sacrificing and controlling nature. It's not actually stated that Gamagoori is into BDSM.
However, there is one character in the show who actually does have sexual preferences and performs sexual acts. Only one. You'd think that some of the adult characters would be shown performing sexual acts, such as Mako's mother and father who seem to be happily married, but if so, it's not shown or even implied in the show. There is only one character in the entire show who actually performs a sexual act:
Ragyo Kiryuin. Momma "bad touch" herself is the only character who ever takes sexuality outside the realm of jokes, references, double entendres, and fanservice, and does so by molesting her two underage daughters. In a series that conspicuously avoided actually having the high-schoolers in the main cast do anything sexual up to this point, Ragyo breaks the veil of double entendre the series has presented up until now by explicitly raping her daughters, and it's treated deadly serious. Even with this, however, Ragyo doesn't make it about the molestation itself. The way she treats her daughters is all about control, and not about sexual contact. It's just a way for her to control and abuse her daughters.
So, in a show filled to the brim with sexual jokes, references, double entendres, and fanservice, but no actual sexual activity or real discussion of sexuality, the only character who does engage in sexual acts does so without any jokes or references, and the sexual acts in question are both highly illegal and more about abuse and control than pleasure.
Granted, there is one other character who is willingly involved with one of Ragyo's rape scenes: Nui. However, during that very scene it's implied that Nui can't experience sexual pleasure, despite that she wants to, because of her body being a chimera of Life Fibers and human tissue. Besides, Nui is also a character who breaks the established norms of the show in other ways. Outside of this one scene, I can hardly think of any sexual jokes, references, or double entendres in regards to Nui.
I'm not actually sure where I'm going with this, this is just something I noticed on the recent re-watch, but I'm sure it was intentional and means something on the metaphorical level.

Fire.
I'M MR. MEESEEKS, LOOK AT ME!Still my favorite OP after five years of watching anime.
It's the last 30-40 seconds that do it for me, especially how the pianist goes nuts.
I'M MR. MEESEEKS, LOOK AT ME!Lacks something without the visuals from the OP. It's a really well done combo, especially on the chorus.
Dopants: He meant what he said and he said what he meant, a Ninety is faithful 100%.x5: Does Ragyo actually physically rape Ryuko? I know there's a Mind Rape and some very uncomfortable touching, but unless I'm misremembering, it doesn't go anywhere near as far as it does with Satsuki.
But yeah, 95% of the nudity in Kill la Kill falls under Naked People Are Funny, and honestly, I appreciate that.
Is that a Wocket in your pocket, or are you just happy to see me?It's sort of ambiguous how explicit the contact between Ragyo and Ryuko is when Ryuko is being changed into Junketsu. There's some seemingly sexual contact that is revealed to just be related to operating the uniform, but there's also some seemingly sexual contact that doesn't really have any alternate explanation.
I feel like, knowing Ragyo, she would absolutely take the opportunity to molest her new daughter, even while she's also making it all about clothing.
wish it wasnt tbh
