A 10 second teaser of Ender's Game has just been released. And boy, am I excited!

I've managed to make out some details. Read this after watching the trailer.

First, the ship we see in the teaser appears to be the Battle Room. Its design differs considerably from the book, but in good ways. In the book, the station seemed to be shaped like a donut, as a circular ring with nine decks, and the battle room in the center. Here, the station is longer than it is wide, and there's been much rearrangement. The central ring is at the "top" of the whole structure, now as a donut with a cross in the center, presumably for faster crossing. The windows reveal that there are three decks, but the height of that section suggests there's at least two more. A spire is at the top, I'm guessing for communications.

The real surprise is the lower half of the station. A large sphere is underneath the central decks, and seems to be transparent. Larger rings surround it. There also seems to be a third object after it, also spherical but slightly smaller. I've guessed the first sphere is the Battle Room.

We then get a brief shot of a HUGE expanse. Sure enough, it's transparent and spherical. Looks like that bubble is indeed the Battle Room. And boy, is it pretty inside. The glass walls display space and the Earth below. "Stars", their term for the floating obstacles, float inside, and are diamond-shaped blocks. Lights highlight their edges and make the dark room brighter. The gates are also round. The roundness differs from the book, where the Battle Room seemed to be square, since mentions of "north wall", "west wall", etc, are made. Still, it looks awesomely huge.

We see a person land on a star, with a cable tying them into the gate. Instinct is to assume it's Ender, but the cable and the wall of stars suggests to be that it's Bean. In Ender's final Battle Room battle, Bean is sent out to scout the arena because a wall of stars is blocking the view from the gate. He used his deadline in that fight to bungee to it and back. If that cable's the deadline, it differs from the book to some extent. It looks thicker, and is attached by a plug to his back, rather than wrapped around his waist. Unfortunately, the helmet doesn't let me check who is in that suit.

There's a shot of Ender meeting his army. I recognize Bean's actor, and the Asian kid near the right side is probably Hot Soup. The others don't have recognizable actors, and the way they're all standing at attention uncomfortably suggests this is Ender meeting Dragon Army, not his jeesh.

Lastly, Mazer Rackham. He's got nice markings all over his face. Are they tattoos or are they face paint? Mackham is half-Maori, so maybe we'll learn what they represent.

Anyway, include your thoughts! You know where to add them, the "Add A Post" box is down.

There's already a thread for the movie, and this looks like it should go there instead of a new thread...

But it's nice to know there's a teaser out for it. Thanks.

Darn, I tried searching if there was one already and couldn't find it. Figures. Thanks for telling me.
