Atlantis (Cafeteria)
"Hey, what's the deal?" Ashley said, approaching Erica, who was eating with some other magical girls. She went up behind her and put her hands on her shoulders, and rested her chin on her head. "We were going to watch Justice League 3, what are you doing here? You ditch us?"

She cast a glance at Prita, Magda, and whoever else was near. "You guys going to watch it too?" she added.

"Otherwise I'd have to be the only one watching one of those superhero movies with her."

"My dorm room's gonna be awful crowded if they are," Tammy said, joining the others. "I thought you were just grabbing snacks?"

"They didn't have Tim's, did they," she added, more statement than question.

"That's stupid," Giz said reflexively, having not really heard what Hannah had said because she was too busy dwelling on what was going on in her head. A moment later, she stopped in her tracks and turned to face Hannah, raising her pointer finger right up under her roomie's chin.

"Hey you, promise me, no more making out with the enemy!" she said, and then mentally scrambled to justify her sudden demand. "I mean, you saw all those guys gawking at you? You're just supporting the bullspit notion that girl on girl is just for turning guys on, and totally undermining the whole thing of female sexual liberation!"

"Hey, you're not in charge of me!" Hannah replied as she walked along. "You saw how those other two magical girls just vanished. I had to distract her long enough so I could grab some of her bitch hair, so that at least we'd have something to take back to Miss Sherman. Otherwise she'd probably try to punish us again for accidentally losing our group or something. But if you're so worried about that, then in the future I'll make sure not do it in public where people are watching. Oh, wait, that's a really good idea, Giz! I bet it would have been way easier to steal her wallet if we weren't out on the street, and in a dorm room somewhere."

Pointedly ignoring Ashley's comment, Prita responded, "Not much. I was just trying to think of the best way to find and expose any dark magical girls who might have infiltrated the school. Erica here happened to show up, so I was getting her opinion of the situation. You wouldn't happen to have any ideas of your own, would you?"

"Sorry!" Erica said, trying to sound appropriately apologetic. "Kinda got sidetracked here. I do like Justice League! I have a Green Lantern poster in my room back home!"

She saw no need to add that she had that poster because she thought his actor was hot.

"Uh, so are we doin' this, or what?" Tammy asked, mind tracking back to the jug of contraband sitting in her dormroom, and desperately hoping that she wasn't going to return to find out that it was her turn for a random room check by one of the sergeants.

"Just forget it!" Giz said, and stormed off on her way to the docks once more, cheeks burning and a litany of swear words running through her mind. This was righteous indignation, dammit! Definitely not jealousy.

Magda hmmed thoughtfully. "Personally I'm stuck between Hawkgirl and Wonder Woman for my favorite characters. Though I suppose my liking the flying women character isn't exactly surprising, is it?"

"Oh, okay, fine," Hannah said, walking along while holding her arms out like she was an airplane, making the occasional bombing or jet thruster noise. "So did you find what you were looking for at your Goth store?" she asked as she caught up to Giz. "And you see Miss Sherman anywhere?"

Atlantis
"Oh, that's okay, it's not silly or anything," Ashley replied to Magda. "I like... uh... Aqua... woman?"

She made a mental note to Google "Aquawoman" later on.

"No, I didn't. Do you know why?" Giz said. "Because somebody got in a fight with a French lesbian spy up the street! I barely even made it in the door. This means that next time we come to the mainland, you're buying my new buckles!"

______________

"Uh, I don't think either of them are in this one," Tammy said. "So, seriously, are we watching this thing, or should I go turn the TV off?"

And hide that keg before some sergeant decides to do a random room check, she added mentally.

"Hmmm... well I don't hear any sirens yet, so we probably have a few minutes to spare," Hannah replied. She put the hair she had ripped out of false-Hannah's head into that space where all magical girl items were stored. Then she did a cartwheel that landed her in front of Giz. "Let's go shopping now!"

She looked around, and pointed at a few stores. "There's so many places, where should we go?" She started reading off the stores she could see. "Ummm.... Dramatique, Behind the Scenes Costumes, The Surplus Guy, Badfish Clothing. Subway."

Atlantis
"Yeah, we'll be there soon," Ashley said. "As soon as they get moviiiiiing. Come oooooon," She tugged on Erica.

"Right, right, I'm coming!" Said Erica. She let Ashley pull her of her seat and off towards the dorm. All the while she waved to Prita and Magda as she was hauled out of the cafeteria.

"See you later, guys! Hope your plan works out, Prita! Giz went to the mainland, I think. Bye!"

And then she disappeared beyond the sliding glass doors.

Into the stores the Hannah and Giz went, enjoying their day away from home. Hopefully they made the most of it because everything afterwards just plain sucked. After their shopping spree, the two girls took their time getting back to the ferry. They might have taken longer had they known an angry Ms. Sherman was waiting for them there on the dock.

"Leaving your group, starting a fight, destroying private property, starting another fight, stealing." She said through gritted teeth, ticking off each crime with a finger. "Why is it always you two who make my life hard?"

Above them, standing on the top deck of the ferry and leaning over the rail with a smirk on her face was the younger Hannah.

Sherman chewed out the juvenile delinquents for a good half hour while the rest of the Atlantis students filed into the boat. The words "irresponsible", "unbecoming", and "you'd have to be a complete and utter idiot!" were used every other sentence. She forbade them from all future mainland trips on top of the standard school punishments. Hannah would be able to introduce Giz to her favorite cleaning utensils again. To make matters worse, the other girl in their group, Gloria, was nowhere to be found. Sherman finally had the ferry leave without her.

Which made for a confusing situation when Gloria was found back at Atlantis, claiming to have never left. Friends and staff supported the alibi that she had been at the school all day. Who had accompanied Giz and Hannah then, was a mystery.

Just when the terrible two were finally allowed to board the ferry, Hannahtwo called out to them from atop the ferry. "Too bad about what happened, mon'amin. Can't say you didn't dig this hole yourself though. Tell you what: next time you're in trouble, just give me a call and I'll back you up. See ya!"

With those parting words she disappeared from view.

"Oh, my God, I am so never doing that again."

"You whine a lot for someone who just had to stand around and talk."

"I'd like to see you morph into someone freakishly tall girl for a whole day!"

"She was only like, five and half feet tall."

"And for someone like me that is freakishly tall! You know how freakin' hard that is? If one of them had so much as bumped me, I don't think I could have kept up the charade."

"Okay, your height issues aside, did you learn anything important? What do they know? How strong are they really?"

"Well, if the sample survey I just took is any indication, low on brains and low on power. I don't see how Grace lost to these idiots. One of them even mistook the random chick with them for us! I mean, I'm right there and she just goes at starts wailing on the girl right next to me instead!"

"You don't think that's a cause for concern?"

"If the fight was anything to go by? No, not really. I could have taken all four of them without a sweat. Grace is a loser, but Evey's totally overreacting."

"You can tell her that when we get home. For now, just stick with the plan."

Atlantis - Two Weeks Later

The sightings were getting more frequent. Almost every other day a report of a Magical Girl sighted in some far off location arrived at the school. Most of the time they were gone before they could even be talked to, much less captured. Some had resulted in fighting though, and at least one of those had involved an impenetrable dome that a team from Atlantis had to take care of. The Atlantis girls had actually become a standard part of these skirmishes with the enemy, to the point that several teams had been stationed in places that were becoming hot spots for magical girl sightings.

Over at Atlantis itself, however, not a whole lot was happening. There had not been a sighting since the fight with Grace Vasa. The girls there continued with their daily routines in the typical magical girl manner. That was to change right after classes were over.

The Seniors and Juniors were all called to General Johnson's office, along with Erica and Magda. As an afterthought, so was Tammy. That was how a small group of Magical Girls found themselves sitting in the administration building. There must have been pressure on them the likes of which no one else could understand, the idea of combat again weighing on their souls. What kind of apprehensive feeling did they have? No doubt there were a hundred questions on their minds.

"I wonder how the Clippers are doing?" Erica wondered out loud as she rocked back and forward in the wooden chair.

"Hey Giiiiiiiiiz," Hannah slyly said to her roommate while they waited. "If it's another mission, I bet you're going to want to lead it again, huh?" She grinned from ear-to-ear and leaned in. "Got any plans on how you're going to win if we vote for it? Otherwise, I mean, maybe you'd have to take orders from someone else. Who knows who you'll have to obey. Someone who conforms to social norms? Ohhh, I bet they might even support the mainstream bourgeoisie. At least there's... well... I'm not sure.... Maybe it could even be a Republican. But I guess I could be convinced to nominate you." She winked. "So... you wanna bribe me to vote for you!?"

Ashley stood near the window. She looked out, and sighed. Out there, far into the sea, she could see a dolphin jumping out of the water, flipping around as it swam happily along in the ocean of life.

Bastard.

The creatures of the sea were mocking her with their freedom, she just knew it. Then she heard Erica mention the Clippers.

"How are they doing?" Ashley asked, leaning in so that she was face-to-face with her. "You mean you didn't see last night's game? Well, I guess it makes sense - if I were a Clippers fan, I wouldn't want to remember that either. You could see that they couldn't stand the Heat last night." She giggled at her little joke / crushingly brutal mocking of a sports team that sported things different that how her sports team sportsed their sports.

Prita stole a sidelong glance at Giz, while not saying anything for the time being. She had heard all the gossip about the fiasco on the mainland — more ammunition to use for the plan she was beginning to hatch. She would wait to hear what General Johnston had to say first, though.

Ashley reached for Erica's hands to try pulling them away from her ears. "Miami sent LA packing."

"I LOVE EUROVISION!" Hannah yelped at Magda. She jumped up and started singing fast and loud, reaching for her hands. "Desde que llegaste ya no vivo llorando! Vivo cantando! Vivo soñando! Pero me pregunto que tu amor hasta cuándo! Podré guardarlo muy dentro de mí!" She kept on going, hoping she or someone would join in.

Giz did her best to ignore Hannah, instead maintaining the silent treatment she'd been giving to the entire school off-and-on ever since that witch Sherman had sentenced her to cleaning bathrooms for the heinous crime of exposing Dreken spies. It'd serve the whole stinkin' place right if those guys portaled right onto their doorstep and curbstomped them into submission right now.

Y'know what? Let little miss prissy bald girl or Captain Siberia lead the next mission! Maybe losing an entire squad because they picked the suck-ups who either stand around doing nothing or shoot at the first thing they see instead of the chick who actually knows what the frak she's doing will make them give a crap about competency over getting their egos gargled!

Tammy watched the older girl who looked like a vampire tap her foot in the air so fast she wondered if her ankle might snap at any moment, then went back to trying to follow the conversation.

"What's 'Eurovision'? Some kinda eyesight contest?" she asked, picturing a firing line of people in top hats and monocles, striped shirts and berets, and other stereotypical national costumes all squinting into the distance, trying to be the first to finish reading an eye exam chart at the other end of a football field. Or, she guessed, it would be a soccer field in Europe.

Magda's head snapped over to Tammy. "Eurovision is only what Europe does instead of wagon wars! Every country sends their most flamboyant, sparkly singers to compete at the last country to win, until one country's singer is voted best by the other competitors! And by the way, Spain totally had it coming two years ago. Portugal betraying you was as predictable as Greece and Cypress giving each other twelve points."
