"Why?" Erica asked. At the same time she was finally sitting down, having been in mid-stride throughout Prita's explanation.

At the mention of infiltrators Erica automatically looked about the cafeteria, scanning for the possible spies. Then she realized it was not like actually knew everyone who attended the school so the action was pretty pointless. The idea of enemies with the ranks made her jittery enough though, so even the smallest action on her part felt reassuring.

"I mean, why would someone watch to join..." she searched for a name shorter than Dark Magical Girl, "them, those guys, the enemy!"

Synonyms were never her strong suit.

"You bitch, that was brand new!" The girl who had just lost her phone shrieked. A flash and an instant later she was in a costume comprised of about 50 shades of gray. A gold hilt saber was in her right hand and what looked like the barrel of a revolver was fused to the top of her left.

"Donna, wait!" the other girl cried, but to no avail. Donna raised her sword and threw herself at Giz.

Over at the other match, which was now attracting a crowd, Hannahone successfully hit Hannahtwo in the nose. Hannahtwo's face went to the side, following her nose. From this direction though she could see the weapon she had dropped. Focusing on the rifle, she once again channeled her magic with her. The rifle disappeared, dissolving into a white light and gold light.

Then it reappeared with a vengeance, shooting out of Hannahtwo's sleeve and striking Hannahone again just like when the battle had started.

"Ah ha! I knew it!" Giz crowed, and then shouted her discovery to Hannah. "Hannah, they're working for Drakin!"

With that, she lunged for the other girl's gun-arm with her spear with an manic grin on her face. The brass would have to give her command of the squad after this!

"Is that all you got, shortstack?!" Hannahone replied to Hannahtwo, grunting hoarsely as the rifle stabbed into her torso, but not letting go of the girl. In fact, she just threw her other arm around her as well, wrapping her in a bear hug, and even curled a leg around her for good measure. She looked around as she heard a sound, though, followed by Giz's voice. There was some girl transforming right next to them, attacking her roommate.

One.

Then there was the one nearby, who seemed to be shouting something.

Two.

And she couldn't forget about the false Hannah.

Three.

"Two can play that game!" she said to Hannahtwo. The next time she opened her mouth, a small leather strip appeared. It was her sling. Rotating her head back, she spun her weapon to maximum speed using her mouth, and brought it towards Hannahtwo's head like a buzz-saw. "Just twell me what I waaanna knaaaaw" she mumbled out.

"Okay, sure," Ashley answered, sitting down on the 'sofa' after setting down the buckets. She looked around the room again, taking in the decorations, and reached for the tiny barrel, popping the cork and taking in a deep drink.

"So..." she said, still looking around, kicking her feet gently off of the sofa every now and then. "You uh... you like um... Captain America?"

"Calm down," Prita said. "It's not like they're going to jump out and get you or anything."

After a pause, she continued, "Why would someone from our side join their team? The same reasons anyone else turns traitor. Maybe they know someone else on the other side. Maybe they're getting paid for it. For that matter, maybe they just think that they aren't getting enough respect and attention here as it is, and they want to do something to feel special."

A plan was beginning to form in Prita's mind, involving a very specific magical girl.

First they ignore you. Then they laugh at you. Then they fight you. Then you win.

The other girl jerked her arm back, leaving Giz' spear to stab at empty air. "The gun arm. Why do they always go for the gun arm?" She grumbled before swinging her saber to strike at the polearm.

Contact between the two weapons produced sparks as the opposing magic forces collided. A foot above the two girls' heads their Wisps went about in a furious dance, circling and charging each other as if reflecting their counterparts below. The other girl pushed with her blade at Giz, trying to force her back before bringing up a booted foot for a kick to the stomach.

"I am going make the pain I put on you worth every damn dollar of that phone!"

Across the road, Hannahtwo shouted, "Make me - ugh!" at Hannahone just as the sling came down on her head. Hannahtwo gritted her teeth, but refused to let herself cry out this time. With her arms stuck to her sides, and beginning to find breathing harder thanks to being sandwiched between the elder Hannah and the concrete, she had to act fast. Her left leg folded, bringing the knee up above the rest of her body. She pushed against the ground with her foot with a surprising amount of strength for a Magical Girl her size. The push was enough to tilt both Hannah's over, sending them tumbling across the sidewalk.

"Ha! I got more than you, that's for sure!" Hannahtwo said during the roll.

The singular magical girl who was not involved in the scuffle had her palms hiding her face. A boy next to her snapped a photo of the fight. Despite the attack from before, many were convinced the entire thing was just a show.

"Isn't that unfair, that one has two weapons?"

"Is that a slingshot?"

"Must be a Magical Girl David. Go Goliath, go!"

"Twenty bucks says the short haired one wins!"

"Dude, you're trippin'. And about to lose that twenty!"

Prita's lasts words only half assuaged the fears caused by her previous ones. Erica still managed to listen to what the older girl had to say while keeping an eye on every new arrival at the cafeteria. She saw the M&M's on their way. Those two at least, she could dismiss the possibility of being spies. At the speeds they were going though, she wondered if one of them was going to run right into the glass doors.

When Prita stopped talking Erica turned her attention back to the older girl. "You have what my mom calls a 'thinking face' on right now." Erica said. "What's up? You have a plan to flush out spies?"

"That's your problem," Hannah replied to the other magical girl, spitting out some blood onto the concrete. At this moment, there was no Hannahtwo. There was only one Hannah, and she had allowed this faker to trick her into thinking there could be derivatives. You don't need numbers when you're Hannah. What was this, math? You needed to make other Hannahs eat their hair. Such was the way of the Hannah, as was handed down by the Hannahs for a hundred generations. "You still have something. "You still got something. You haven't been throwing your all into this, always hoping to have something left. But I go all the way, I hold nothing back and put everything of myself into this, so you'll never beat me!"

Grabbing at the imposter magical girl who dared to call herself a Hannah, the real Hannah tried to throw her at the magical girl that was fighting Giz. She hoped her roommate could work with that.

"GIZ!" Hannah shouted. "SUPER ROOMIE COMBO! TWO-BITCH PILEUP!"

The other Hannah went flying, a human bullet at an equally human target. She yelled both in surprise and confusion as she zipped by the spectators (and the sole magical girl who had somehow managed to not get involved) with their phones and cameras following her trajectory.

The shouting from both Hannah's was enough to get the attention of the girl Giz was confronting. Instinctively, she ducked. Hannah flying right over her and now on a path to hit Giz instead.

The other magical girl's kick glanced harmlessly off Giz's shield, but before she could counterattack, Hannah started yelling about combos. When her opponent ducked, Giz had just enough time to see the girl Hannah had been fighting hurtling toward her and react accordingly. Springing a few feet diagonally back, she thrust her spear through the arm straps of her shield, gripped the shaft in both hands, and went into a batter's stance. She swung her spear-and-shield combo at the incoming girl like a giant tennis racket, screaming, "40-LOVE, SUCKER!"

While Giz played Tennis, and the other magical girl was ducking, Hannah reached down to grab something for a split-second, then suddenly jumped behind the ducking magical girl. She reached around her torso with her right arm, then brought her left arm around as well, higher up than her right.

In her left hand, she had the tray of nachos from earlier, which she started to shove at the ducking magical girl's face.

"Shhh, shhh," she whispered. "Don't fight it."

A three strike combo. A human pinball machine. A series of dominoes toppling each other.

Giz struck Hannahtwo. Hannahtwo careened into Donna. Donna was thrown back into Hannah the Only. Hannah the Only was knocked off her feet, loosing the ground and her nachos. It was a three Magical Girl pile up!

The fight had raged on for thirteen minutes. Many lives had gotten their daily dose of wackiness for the day. A bystander knelt down besides the girls on the pavement and began a countdown.

"... 8... 9... 10!"

Getting back up, he took Giz by the wrist and raised it high in triumph. "We have a winner!"

Giz was so elated by her victory that she didn't even sock the guy for putting his hands on her. She'd identified and defeated two enemy spies, all on her own! Alright, Hannah had helped a little, but Giz had had to save her, too, so it cancelled out. I'll be the school's top general in a week! she thought, and then a pesky reminder popped up in the back of her head.

Shaking the grabby bystander off, she whirled around and brought her spear up to point at the last remaining magical girl, the one who hadn't transformed. "Well now, are you gonna come quietly? Or do I have to put you down like your cohorts?"

"Oh, nothing that you need to worry about," Prita replied. "Just let me know if you see any students you might think are overly ambitious, or discontented, or otherwise might be vulnerable to plotting against the school."

Magda, after flying for what seemed like a very long time for the speed she was going, went in for her landing, angling her wings and cutting her speed. She glided to a nearly perfect stop, except for the part where she hit the doors at a somewhat higher speed than intended. "Owww..." She muttered, glancing around for others.

Giz had meant to make her boast to the last standing magical girl besides her. Instead her words - and spear - were directed at a frumpy middle aged woman with too much make-up and hair that was obviously dyed its current color. The other magical girl was nowhere to be seen.

Hannah's attempt to locate Hannah's purse failed for the same reason no one would find her own pocket belongings on herself. The younger Hannah was still in magical girl form, her regular clothes and items were still off in wherever it was that magical girls' clothes went when they transformed.

"Nice try, mon'amie. But these aren't the pants you're looking for." Hannahtwo leaped, her skin glowing for a moment and her scrapes and bruises healing as the glow faded. "Well that was fun. Better luck next time though. I'm still hungry, can we get more food?"

Atlantis

Erica tried to think of students who matched the qualities prita had listed off. Prima Donnas, grumps, and terrorists? Then Prita mentioned Giz. Erica tried to recall a face to go with the name. There was a vague recollection. A memory of a dream and a dark haired girl throwing a spear.

"I think I might remember who -"

Her words were interrupted by Magda doing a very good impression if a bird running into a window.

"How about her?" Erica pointed at Magda. "She's damaging school property. Does that make her a malcontent?" Then she waved to Magda to get her attention.

"That's it!" Hannah shouted at the imposter Hannah. "You!" she shouted at one of the people with cameras, pointing at him. "Take pictures!"

"If you don't want to tell me because you're embarrassed, or you're a spy, or you're really a robot, and I can't beat the truth out," she told the alternate Hannah. "Then I'll just have to blackmail the truth out of you! Wouldn't want to upset your mom, would you?" She jumped at the fake Hannah, throwing her hands onto her shoulders and ramming her head towards her face for a liplock. Or at least something that would look like it given the angle of the camera.

Because taking possible national security threats to school officials is harder to do, apparently.

Hannah, being French, had no problem being caught in a kiss, which she helpfully provided when Hannah the Spaniard stalled just before their lips touched. They met. The chirping of a camera snapping a shot went off nearby. Then, with strength that did not seem proper for her small frame, magical or not, she piled herself free of Hannah the Elder.

"You are stingy. I give you a chance to find out want you want in a fair fight but you let me down. I shall find food elsewhere." Turning around, she bolted for the crowd. It took less than three seconds for her to disappear among the people, most of whom were a head taller than she was.

"Until we meet again, mon'amie!" Was the last thing Hannah would hear before the other Hannah's voice was drowned out among the chatting spectators. Her Whisper followed suit, buzzing above hue heads if the people before also disappearing from sight.

Hannah frowned, and snatched the camera phone away from the person who had snatched photos. She started stomping towards Giz.

And grinned.

She held out her left hand, which had several strands of the other Hannah's hair in it. "That was me being all strategic-like and stuff. When I had her enthralled, I yanked out some of her bitch hair. Now we can take it to Mrs. Patton, and she can look at the DNA and do the sciencey stuff with it, just like they do on TV, and we can figure out if she's one of those Dark Magician Girls. And then maybe she can tell us why Donna and Gloria just up and Houdinied on us."

"Show's over, chuckleheads!" she announced to the gathered crowd. "Go about your pointless days, nothing more to see here." She began shoving her way through the crowd, heading toward the ferry home. Any thoughts of going back to Not Topic were totally eclipsed by the mental image of Hannah making out with that other girl, and she grumbled angrily under her breath as she marched.
