"If you ever say the name of that other 'store' again within my range of hearing, I'll break your soul in half," Giz said, stopping abruptly in her tracks to face down the two girls' whose names she hadn't bothered learning yet. "I was going to ditch you both, but I can see now that you need some desperate education."

Giz started marching again, towing the other two girls right up to the front door of the shop. She paused on the threshold, taking a deep, almost religious breath, placed her hand firmly on the aluminum bar handle, and, as the decal on the glass commanded, pulled. Inside was a world of black and metal. Racks of black apparel, shelves of steel ornaments, cases of silver jewelery. Occasional splashes of cherry red or streaks of white broke up the solid black from time to time, but they were few and mostly concentrated in one small display, almost shunned by the rest of the merchandise.

In short, it looked exactly like a Hot Topic that was trying way, way too hard, which is really saying something. Giz took it all in with an almost euphoric high as the smell of leather and nail polish filled her nostrils. She held her arms out to her sides, gesturing for her followers to take it all in, and then abruptly dropped her arms to her side, spun on her heel, and shoved them back out the door.

"Now get lost, being seen with you would ruin my cred," she said, and headed for the buckles display. Buckles ruled.

"Sure, I'll go get everything set up while I wait," Tammy said. "I'm room 107 in Red Hall. Bring potato chips and soda; Tim's Cascade if they have 'em."

She knew they wouldn't, but she liked to think that if she kept asking, the school might start.

After sitting in an empty cafeteria for half an hour, Prita began to get restless. Would she need to go somewhere else to meet her classmates?

Atlantis - Field

"Hey, you two done here?" Came a shout directed at Maya and Magda. There was a group of girls coming up to the field. "We're gonna practice. This place free or what?"

Atlantis - Cafeteria

The sliding doors of the cafeteria swooshed open and Erica was greeted with the delicious aroma of freshly cooked food. Chicken, beans, buns, fries, vegetables, her mouth was already savoring the meal on her imaginary plate. She had come here just for Tammy's food and her own hot dog and potato chips but all food smelled so good after a fight that she figured she might as well pile up on the grub.

"Oh, God, it all looks so good!" She said to Ashley before rushing towards the food line.

Five minutes later, with food in hand, Erica was not quite skipping towards the exit when she passed an anxious-looking Prita. Tammy forgotten for the moment, she stopped in mid-stride on the opposite side of the table from the older girl.

"Yo, what's got you all wrinkly faced?"

Hannahtwo eagerly accepted her Hannahone-provided food. "Thank you!" She said the in same breath she took to shove the nachos into her face. Stepping back from the nacho stand, Hannahtwo took a seat on the curb.

"So you're from Spain? Which part? When did you come here?"

Meanwhile, down the block, Giz's disciples were going cross-eyed from the overbearing punk atmosphere.

"I, uh, think I need to go." Said one of the girls before beating a hasty retreat out of the store. The other brave soul looked back longingly but steeled herself and marched up beside Giz.

"You come here every weekend? Just what do you get here?"

"Oh, you know, the Spanish part," Hannahone replied to Hannahtwo as she sat down next to her. She scooped up a big greasy clump of chips and washed it down with her soda. "I've been here a few months, I guess. What about you, where are you from? How long you been here? How old are you?"

As Erica was entranced by the food court and its variety, Ashley had found herself lured to a single item....

When she knocked on Tammy's door later, she was using her forehead, since she was carrying a bucket of fried shrimp and fish in each hand, and had a small barrel with a black label that said "XXX" tucked under one of her arms.

Magda sighed. "Yeah, we're done! Enjoy the field, it's got some neat surprises!" She turned to Maya. "So, shall we go to the cafeteria?"

Maya gleefully rubbed her hands. “Yes, let's celebrate our triumph, Simpson.”
Without waiting for a reply, she ran toward the cafeteria. “See if you can catch me!” she shouted over her shoulder.

Prita looked up. She had met the underclassman a few times in passing, although she did not know her well. Oh well, there was always room for meeting new people.

"It's just...I've been pondering those dark magical girls that have attacked us a few times. I don't know if you've been involved in the recent events at all, um — Erica, was it? — but I've faced off against them a few times, and I think they're more of a serious threat than people realize. I've been hearing some people here say that they're gone for good, but that seems a bit naïve to me. I think instead that they're plotting something."

"I notice you conveniently forgot to mention your age," Hannahone replied through a mouthful of nachos. "Are you really young? Did you skip a grade but now you're trying to act normal and don't want anyone to judge you for being a genius? Ooooh, or did you have to repeat a grade and now you're super ashamed and trying not to let anyone know? It's okay, I did seventh grade twice, I know what it's like. Stupid skateboard"

The closest thing to a dark magical girl in Erica's experience was that senior with bad taste in clothing. She had encountered their minions though. Erica thought back to the monsters that had invaded the school, the chaos and destruction they had left behind in their wake. Even a novice like Erica knew that only the sheer number of magical girls and military personnel had ensured their defeat. She still shivered at the very thought of those monsters and relished the idea of their return as much as she did a reoccurring nightmare.

"Planning what?" She found herself asking.

"I did not!" Hannahtwo huffed. "I'm ...teen!" The middle of that sentence had had been much more muffled than the rest of her words. "But I was at the top of my class back home! Wait, you got held back? What does a skateboard have to do with that? Was it before you became a magical girl?"

"Well the skateboard was really just the first thing," Hannahone replied, swallowing her nacho clump and drinking a bit more soda. "There were other things. Like the potato cannon, the monster truck tire, the - I'M GONNA FIND OUT ONE WAY OR THE OTHER!"

Hannahtwo sat there with a dumb expression for a few moments. It the time it took for her to realize what was happening, Hannahone was already on top of her. The French girl reacted instinctively, blouse turned white and sprouted buttons and a coattail, pants receded to just above her knees and puffed out. A hat appeared where one had previously not existed before shrinking and curling around Hannahtwo's hair, giving her a tripointed hair scrunchy. Everything was white and gold.

All that happened within a second. A second later a rifle shot out from under Hannahtwo's sleeve, the sleeve which was around the arm that was trying to push Hannah the Elder off of her. The rifle did a better job of it, sending Hannahone up into the air and back down five feet away.

Getting up Hannahtwo looked down at Hannahone with triumph flashing on her face. "Nice try, mon'amie! But you gotta do better than that!"

"I was worried you were going to make this too easy," Hannahone said as her own outfit appeared during her transformation. As she did so, the cuts and scrapes her un-magicked face had gathered when she fell onto the pavement started to heal over, and she grinned from ear to ear. The sling in her left hand rocketed a stone towards Hannahtwo's knee, while the rest of Hannahone bumrushed Hannahtwo, laughing as she charged.

Upon opening the door, Tammy's eyes immediately focused on the black-labelled barrel under Ashley's arm.

"Where did you get that?" she asked suspiciously, but stepped back to allow the other girl into the room before waiting for an answer. A monitor sat in one corner of the room, facing the center and displaying the main menu of a DVD. Two beds were arranged at right angles from one another, up against the walls, with the stand with the entertainment devices at their mutual feet. Two chairs, one office, and one bean bag, sat in the middle of the room. The wall above one bed was decorated with photos of horses and people in cowboy hats, a poster of Chris Evans as Captain America, and another poster of a chestnut mare ridden by a familiar young lady. The second poster read "Don't Miss the Duncan Rodeo," and listed a series of dates from last year, and the two posters overlapped slightly to share a heart-shaped pin holding their top corners up.

"Is Erica behind you?"

"Nope; out, out, out. You're done here," Giz said, grabbing the remaining girl by the shoulders and wheeling her back out the door, where an all-too-familiar shriek from up the street caught her subconscious. She paused, a blank look on her face and her hands still on the other girl's shoulders.

"My Hannah-sense is tingling," she said with a sigh, and looked around until she saw the magical fight that had just erupted near the taco truck. Her head snapped back to the girl she was currently chickhandling and her nearby friend.

"She was with you. Are you part of this? Are you working for Drakalon?" she shouted in the poor girl's face. She didn't wait for an answer, and instead shoved the other girl away and transformed in a flash of bronze light, not even registering her usual embarrassment over the split-second psudeo peepshow she was putting on. Spear in hand, took off running to back Hannah up.

Hannahtwo dodged Hannahone's rock by a Hannah hair, but she was caught in Hannahone's tackle by a width of one Hannah. Down they both went, hitting the pavement and rolling. Hannahtwo dropped her rifle, the thing clattered onto the ground. She was trying as best as she could to break loose from Hannahone's grip, not wanting to be sandwiched between a larger opponent and the cement.

"You have strong determination." she said to the older girl with a thin smile. "Let's see if you have as strong a head!"

And then the French girl threw her head forward to headbutt Hannahone.

Ashley took a few moments to stare around and gaze at the room, nibbling on a piece of popcorn shrimp. "Oh, this?" she said with a grin. "It's just something I keep around. And yeah, Erica's right here. She's..." she turned around, and saw nobody. "...right... behind... me.... Uh...."

"Infiltrating us, most likely," Prita replied. "We've put up a pretty good fight when we've faced them in a direct assault — if it weren't for the magic portals that let them retreat, we'd have captured at least some of them by now. My thought is that they'll probably be using stealth next — sending some of their magical girls to the academy, finding out our secrets, and possibly even looking for potential allies among our ranks. As much as I hate to say it, I'm sure there are at least some of us here who might be tempted to go over to their side."

The unstoppable forces of Hannah craniums collided with the power unleashed by two teenage girls moving at slightly faster speed than usual. Hannahone's head proved to be rock solid, as Hannahtwo found out the hard way. If she had thought seeing stars was something that happened only in comic books, then she was painfully made aware of how wrong she had been. Colors danced around her eyes, and her head fell back.

"Ow! Motherfu- Ow!" The French girl could not figure out how she wanted to react. Still pinned downed, Hannahtwo struggled to free herself. Managing to move her left arm a bit, Hannahtwo let the magic flow into her hand.

"Champion of Independence!" She cried as the magic powered fist moved to strike Hannahone in between her ribs.

She was too distracted by the Spaniard above her to notice Giz coming at them. Several paces behind, the other two girls accompanying Giz watched with a mix of concern and amusement.

"Shouldn't we stop them?" Asked the girl who had left Not Topic before Giz.

"Are you nuts? Let's get nachos and film this shit!" The other girl responded before whipping out her phone.

Seeing that Hannah had things under control, Giz skidded to a halt a few yards away and turned on the other two girls whose names she'd never bothered to get.

"Gathering intelligence? I don't think so!" she cried, and swung her spear. The magical blade scythed through the cellphone like a laser knife through cold butter, the butter dish, the counter top, and anything else in its way, and the decapitated bit of phone clattered to the pavement anticlimactically.
