Why? The first season was an utter fluke like The Sixth Sense. I don't even recall if the damn cheerleader had any actual relevance to saving the world.

I think it was something like that if Sylar had gotten her power then, no one would have been able to stop him (even though he got the immortality thing later anyway...)
