Nothing new since the SE streams have been so thorough and knew everything about the game since they actually made it.

is there any consensus on whether bravely second is good or not?

General consensus is yes, it's good, but it's not very innovative and there isn't a lot new.

All those new classes, though!

A lot of which are re-purposed old classes. Like Final Fantasy Tactics A2, they also stripped down the abilities of returning classes and moved those to new ones to create the illusion that there's more content than there really is.

Well, in TA 2 they at least gave the old classes new abilities to pad out their resume.

Were any of the jobs similar to some of the extra jobs in Final Fantasy V? I recall they added a few new ones in the GBA remake.

For Second or Default?

They also reduced the number of levels every job gains from 14 to 10 in Second.

10 * 30 = 300, while 24 * 14 = 336, so overall there's actually fewer abilities in Second. And even many of the new ones are just different takes on abilities from Default. White, Time, and Black Magic were also stripped down to be far less versatile and interesting in favor of the new magic classes.

This isn't me shit talking the game, just explaining that, really, there isn't much new.

Factoring in the secret 11th level classes get via the Kitsune, that's still 6 less slots from Default.

Hmm.

I'm just wondering if it'll take more or less time to level up classes this time around. I'm guessing less time, since a higher percentage of class levels are in the 1-5 range.

In Bravely Second: how much of the game is the first half of the game?

Ha ha ha. That's funny; anyone who hasn't played Bravely Default would probably say that, necessarily, it's half the game.

Second's NG+ is part of the actual plotline.

It involves time travel.

But compared to Bravely Default, it's basically done the right way this time, since if you initiate the loop you basically thwart the villain's plan before it even begins.

So I'm thinking of doing a replay on Hard. Which traits, if any, should I bring over to the NG+? Besides villagers, I mean, those are a given.

I'm actually not sure. My first run was Hard, but it I had to guess, I'd say also keep job levels (so that you still have to get jobs, but have the grinding pre-done when you get the asterisks), Genome Abilities (for similar anti-grinding purposes), and D's Journal progress (so you can get closer to snapping up all the cutscenes), Friends, Guests, and Norende population (and perhaps progress?).

That all would cut a lot of the fat from the experience without making you too super powered right out the gate, which is about what I want out of NG+

I'm actually not sure that you can. When I tried to do that it wouldn't let me.

Or rather, you have to keep access from the start if you wanna keep the job level.

Hm. Never mind, then.

You can always unlock jobs, but just wait until you would unlock each Asterisk to start using the job, i guess.
