Aoisakari University, Main Gate - Morning
Sojirou Ashikaga, aged 18, hero of justice-wannabe sat completely ramrod straight during the orientation.
His steely gaze glint dangerously in the morning sunlight. A charitable soul would describe him as being statuesque in majesty- the picture of focus, an image of disciplined scholar condensed into an avatar.
...That is, until a soft "Zzzzz" emanate from his drooping and slightly drooling mouth, and the metal chair start swaying like it just had too much vodka.

Adrien Urbin, meanwhile, noticed that the kid who introduced himself as Kenya... Penta... Something Enya? Was falling asleep. Adrien was tempted to do so himself, but he tried to stay awake by doodling in his notebook, when Kenta's now sleeping head fell on his shoulder.

Masumi was listening to the speech, in as much that she was picking out key words here and there and deciding that she didn't really need to tune herself back in at any point. There were a group of students in front of her that were big enough in both height and weight to somewhat cover her as she ducked her head down, attention on a beetle that was wriggling its way out of a crack in the ground. Pulling out her digital camera she started to search through the settings for one that would best enhance the colour of its carapace, occasionally glancing up and around to make sure she wasn't drawing an overt amount of attention.

Adrien heard something about a... mystery on the campus, but that was the one thing he paid attention to. So, he started trying to draw the Dean's face if he'd just KEEP STILL UGH.

The dean's speech carried on, talking about 'setting your sights higher' and 'being all you can be', with apparently nobody except the typical "Teacher's Pet" types paying attention...
"OH MY GOD!"
A single student's voice carried over the dull drone of the dean, as the student stood up and pointed at the roof of the main building. On the rooftop was a male teacher, standing on the edge of the roof. The teacher took a step and fell to his death.
Chaos erupted. Screaming, gasping, the dean making a futile attempt to get the students under control. Kenta, snapped out of his daydream by the sound of hysteria, looked away from the spot of empty space to see the body of the suicidal teacher.
"Oh, geez..." whispered Kenta.
"Really? Why does everyone have to be so damn stupid to kill themselves these times? Why am I always surrounded by idiots?", Kenjiro muttered to himself, only turning his head halfway towards the window, then looking at the stage again, waiting for the speech to continue. Although he knew, that nothing even remotely interesting would be brought up, at least it would be better than having to listen to the gossiping of his classmates.

Adrien started drawing what he saw of the teacher before the jump. He tried to keep his cool, but his improvised coping mechanism didn't work very well. He started babbling to the student next to him: "Zut alors pourquoi voulais le proffesseur performer suicide?!?!" Translation: Wow, why would a teacher commit suicide? Naturally, the student just looked confused, unable to speak French.

Yukari stood outside the gate, taking the occasional swig from a bottle of Heineken, while listening to the dean address the incoming freshmen.
When the sound of the teacher hitting the ground caught up to her, she ran inside, spilling a bit of beer in the process, before coming to a halt at the edge of the circle of students surrounding the body of the teacher and taking a swig of whatever was left in the bottle.
'Goddammit, he just had to kill himself, didn't he? Way to start off the bloody semester.' she grumbled, before draining the bottle, throwing it away and stalking off towards her dorm room.

Rudely awakened by the commotion, Sojirou barely regain his balance before toppling to the floor.
Hearing someone besides him exclaim in a foreign language, barely making out "performer" and "suicide", Sojirou turns to regard the speaker.
'Huh. Looks likes even foreigners states the obvious. Then again, I have no idea what he's talking about.'
He looks toward the growing crowd surrounding the teacher. The guy's probably already dead, so there's no helping him. It is unlikely that the Dean's speech will continue after such commotion.
Sojirou rose and moves toward the cafeteria. Might as well grab a bite to eat.

When had the loss of a life become so inconsequential?
Masumi was horrified of course, but not overtly so. What concerned her most about the scene was the growing lack of reaction from her peers; there were hysterics, sure, but with each new suicide there were less people being overall affected by the loss of life, as if there was only so much compassion one person could give.
She looked up at the roof that he had jumped from; she'd been up there once or twice, when in need of aerial shots, and had found it to be one of the calmer places in town. If she could get up there before the area was barred off... she unrolled her camera's strap and let it hang from her neck, hurrying to the entrance of the school.

Adrien saw a young woman with a camera break from the crowd, and he debated following her. He decided to go and see what she was up to.

It wasn't until she was in the building that Masumi realised she was being followed- outside it might've been only coincidence given how many people there were, but here there were only the two of them. She turned around, noting first the sketchbook in his hand, and then the way in which light from one of the windows struck his oddly coloured hair.
"You heading my way?" It wasn't until a second or two after it was out that she realised she'd made an unconscious attempt to lower the pitch of her voice, and distracted herself from the fact by trying to recollect what shade of white she would refer to his hair by.

Her own curiosity peaked, she quickly looked behind her before turning back to the French boy. "So... how'd you feel about what just happened? There seems to have been a lot of suicides lately."

Adrien walked up closer, but was still at a respectable distance. "Forgive me for not introducing myself.Je m' appelle Adrien. But you may call me A." He smiled.

She didn't know a lick of French (though she was certain at least one of her parents' associates was fluent in it) but could guess what he was saying from the context. "Yeah, and it was such a peaceful town beforehand..."
She looked contemplative for a moment, but then smiled back when he introduced himself. "Masumi Ienari. Nice to meet you A." She picked up her camera from where it was dangling and held it up to her eye, already adjusting the zoom and lighting. "Would you mind? I find that keeping a memento from first encounters helps me remember the person better."

Masumi checked out the photo herself- she'd over-judged how much she'd need to tone up the brightness, but apart from that it was satisfactory- before replying. "I wanted to check out the roof before the police arrived and blocked the area off." She didn't offer any reasoning further than that, since at the moment it really only was simple curiosity that was driving her.
It wasn't just that either. She could hear someone's footsteps approaching, and looked behind Adrien at the corridor behind him.

((D'accord: OK)) A turned around to see a you-EEEEEEEEEE The young man who was now with the two was startlingly close to Adrien, causing him to let out a Girly Scream, and to jump into Masumi's arms, much like a certain Mystery solving Dog. "MON DIEU JE NE VEUX PAS MOURIR QUE JE SUIS TELLEMENT TERRIFIÉ ! Attendre un minuit... Oh, hello, ahem, who are you?" ((French: OH MY GOD I DON'T WANT TO DIE I'M SO TERRIFIED Wait a minute...))

On her way to her dorm room, she decided to stop off at the cafeteria to meet up with some friends, inadvertently bumping into a young man at the entrance.
'Oh! I'm so sorry! I guess I wasn't looking where I was going...' She sheepishly told the young man.

"Goddammit, not another one."
A frazzled-looking man in a paramedic's uniform grumbled to himself as he loaded the cadaver of a college-age girl into a body bag. His partner, a frustrated bald man with a tattoo on the back of his neck, shook his head in disapproval as he wiped the blood off the sidewalk. "Third suicide this week." said the bald man. "This is insane, what the hell's going on?" The paramedic shrugged. "Beats me. C'mon, let's get this body outta here before the reporters get here..."
Morning

"Students, welcome!"
Kenta Fujimoto shifted uncomfortably in the folding metal chair, as the dean gave a speech to the new and the returning students. He drummed his fingers on his knee, not listening to the dean but instead staring at a point of empty space right behind the dean's left ear.
"We at Aoisakari hope to expand you academic horizons, and to bring you a bright future when you graduate from here."
The dean droned on and on...
Kenta sighed. This is boring....
