That said, WIMP is more a descriptor than anything. We still need to confirm what exactly the WIM Ps are. There are a few theories floating around. The idea that they are the lightest supersymmetrical particle is quite popular.

Yeah, WIMP isn't an answer, it's a wide category of potential answers.

9 proton masses is still very heavy for a basic particle, and this was way down at the low end of what they were expecting to find. In supersymmetry, apparently, the more massive a particle is beyond a certain threshold, the less tangible it is on other particles.
