Season 3 details:

• Eddie Izzard will return—despite being killed off: “We are writing a role for Eddie to return as a flashback,” writer-producer Bryan Fuller said.

• Raul Esparza (Dr. Chilton) will be back and plays an important role in the next season despite being shot in the face: “I told Bryan in my next season I expect to have an eye patch, hump, and parrot,” said Esparza.

• How will season 3 handle having separated Lecter and Graham? “One of the cool things [about] being a Star Wars fan is when you separate R2-D2 and C-3PO, they don’t become less interesting,” Fuller said. “We’re introducing a lot more characters from the novels, some that haven’t been in the series yet.” Those characters include: The Florentine detective Rinaldo Pazzi, Hannibal Rising lover Lady Murasaki, and, in episode 8, the Red Dragon himself, Francis Dolarhyde. Fuller hinted, as you might expect from the inclusion of Pazzi, that Hannibal is headed to Italy.

• The third season will pick up one year after the season 2 finale and will get away from the show’s procedural format: “The entire first half the of season is relatively FBI-light,” Fuller said. “It’s all about the pursuit of Hannibal. … The first episode is very much like a pilot for a new series starring Mads Mikkelsen and Gillian Anderson.” hell to the fuck yes

• Hannibal producers are still trying to get the rights from MGM to include Silence of the Lambs protagonist Clarice Starling, but are not giving up. “We’re going to do a full-court press to get those rights,” Fuller said. “I want to complete the story.”

Bryan also confirmed that Abigail will return in some fashion, implying that they will at least show what happened to her while she was hidden.

I forget whether or not Will knows about Hannibal having super smelling powers. Does anyone know if he does or not?

So what's going to be the episode naming theme this season? Does Italy have a detailed list of courses?

Pretty sure it's gonna be Italian, yes. There is such a thing as Italian cuisine and for once it would be relevant to the season's setting.

According to Wikipedia, Fuller stated that Okamoto is actually playing Murasaki's handmaid. Make of that what you will...

Also whoever guessed Italian for the episode names was right. The first 3 episodes are titled Antipasto, Primavera and Secondo.

...Are there any other signifiers of Will's spatial neglect besides the clock drawing? I feel like that's something that shouldn't have been left out.

What do you guys recommend for other shows if you like Hannibal. I think Blacklist for one.

i would recommend Fallen London. it's not a show, but it's a really awesome text game. and in Sunless Sea the video game there is cannibalism

Well, The Following is basically Hannibal's competitive TV counterpart, so there's that.

Oh, that wacky ol' Hannibal.

I saw that promo. It actually made me look up Aquarius and now I kind of want to watch that show too.

I'd completely forgotten pretty much half the cast is actually British.

Some slight spoilers (Hanni and Bedelia's dinner guest doesn't look like he's long for this world) but generally it looks like they're going to be playing up Bedelia's Ambiguously Evil tendencies more directly now.
They interview Caroline/Alana but that doesn't have to mean anything, I guess. Richard Armitage gets a couple of lines too, there's a few glimpses of Lady Murasaki's handmaid as well (why would they announce her and not Murasaki herself, though).

Loved the premiere last night, though the promo for next week kinda spoiled it fir me (though they did telegraph Bedelia's demise pretty strongly all through the episode).

Loved the use of colours and aesthetics with the fantastic scenery. The flashbacks were a bit twisty, but not too hard to follow so long as you have a decent memory of last season.

Mads Mikkelsen should wear biker leathers more often. They look good on him XD

Well, hopefully, the cable networks are still interested.

NBC, whhhhyyyyy? It almost seemed you were picking up some AMC/HBO/FX smarts!

Oh well. I'm 80% sure Netflix or Amazon will pick it up. It's way too critically well-regarded, doesn't cost very much, and has a pre-built fanbase. Then again, I didn't think Sansa's GOT storyarc could get butchered so badly so no one should listen to a thing I say.
