[up] it was a bug, losing void keys in failed missions was actually patched OUT of the game, it used to be that you'd lose the key when entering the void, but they changed it so you'd lose the key only if you were succesfull on the mission so ppl wouldn't lose void keys without getting anything from them.

[up] Uh, TIL.

Update 16.4 is out!

Highlights:

  • New Tonkor grenade launcher primary (you can rocket jump!)
    • The preview video featured Nemesis Nyx! Holy mother of teasing, DE!
  • Two new alt helmets (Chroma and Mesa).
  • Two new augments (Chroma and Nekros).
  • New mod for Kubrows called Shelter (basically Sanctuary but for Kubrows).
  • You can now give commands to syndicate allies.
  • And other stuff that is more or less forgettable.

That's a decent update alright.

Hmm... never been superh ot on launcher weapons, especially arcing ones, so the new weapon isn't that interesting to me. Though I like it's design. And the Nyx outfit looks neat. I presume it'll be a similar situation to the Proto-Excalibur skin.

The new Augments seem... mixed. Despite Nekros not being abundantly tough I've never had a problem with survivability, so a tanking augment doesn't seem hugely necessary - especially since I don't wind up using souls of the Dead that often anyways. I can see it being useful for someone who mains him, since it leads to being a really tough guy with an army if you mod for that, but I don't think I'd pick it over a regular utility mod.

Chroma's one looks theoretically a bit better, depending on how those %s work. I presume it's something like every X damage he takes he puts out a burst for Y damage, but it sounds like it could also be consistent bursts that increase in range based on the damage done. It definitely improves his tanking, and fits his design theme of abilities that both benefit his surviability and damage output at the same time, which is nice.

Anybody found any images of the new Helmets yet? I was pretty unimpressed by Mesas original alt(My stance on Mesa has always been I want to like her a lot more than I do; her design is great and her abilities seem interesting, but she feels underwhelming to play as), And Chroma's was, well... it's unique, and I could get used to it, but it's not exactly the sort of thing I'd jump at the chance to get.

Another thing included in the update. The Mars boss has been renamed 'The Sergeant', and now Nef Anyo is a completely new character that's basically a big conman stealing money from gullible people in order to build new robots.

And that makes a new event for us where we need to find those new robots, disable them, hack them, and then kill them at the right time apparently. If you do it wrong, you lose credits, but if you do it right, you gain bonus credits.

Oh and the final reward for that event is a Quanta Vandal.

Operation False Profit.

It's basically what Killerwing said. You'll have to:

  • Acquire the blueprints for "Void offering" and use those to bait out the new Riot MOA.
    • The Riot MOAs Are now officially known as Bursa and have three different type:
      • Bunker Bursa that bunkers down and protect choke point.
      • Amprex Bursa that aims to make Tenno group scatter.
      • Denial Bursa with a nullifier field and that also bunkers down.
  • Every void offering you have equipped gives you 25% chance to spawn a Bursa, for a total of 100% with four players.
  • If the players encounter a Bursa in a Corpus mission (15+), they will have to use it as an ATM machine to try and hack credits away from Nef.
    • First step: Keeping the Bursa alive but stunning it so that you can hack it from behind.
    • Second step: Let the Bursa live long enough to complete a transfer.
    • Third step: The Bursa should enter a "Verifying transfer" stage. You have to kill it in this stage to keep it from stealing your cash. If you kill him, you get your void offering back as well as bonus credits from Nef. If you don't, you lose your creds.
  • Do that enough to earn the different stages of rewards:
    • Event badge.
    • Impact mods for your weapons.
    • Quanta Vandal, with its own potato and catalyst.

So, I went and did a solo Exterminate on Europa to try out on my own to do the event, mostly because I've had a hard time figuring out what the Council chat said was actually true.

One thing of note is that you have a 25% chance of getting a Bursa in the mission for every player with an offering in their gear slots. So 100% chance if 4 players have an offering each. Obviously I got lucky.

Getting to the Bursa got a bit tricky, mostly because of the additional enemies around, but once I had them cleared, I went and used a slam attack(you know, jump in the air, aim downward and press melee attack) while I was to the Bursa's side(would also work from behind) and it stunned it. Took me two tries because the first time the Bursa's back was into a wall, so I couldn't get behind to do the hack.

Once I got the hack, I had a sort of 'timer', or more of a progress counter that showed up, where it showed the transfer verification being done. You need to stay within a certain range of the Bursa to make the progress work. I was just in range of the Bursa thanks to some crates, but I had to do a little peeking out of cover from time to time to resume the progress.

And once it got to 100%, the Bursa started to try and retreat, the Lotus confirmed it was done and said to destroy the Bursa, which I did. Poor thing had no chance, given I was using Nova and I had it primed before it started to run away. Basically killed it in a second, then I went on to finish the extermination mission as normal.

Managed to get the best possible score, which is 100 as well. Apparently the faster you take out the Bursa, the higher the score will be. I had used a Humble Offering, which is 1000 credits, and I got 1080 credits in return when I blew up the Bursa.

Also, according to Council chat, Credit Boosters will double the amount of credits gained from this.

So basically, if you wanna get the Quanta Vandal, you need to do a minimum of 15 runs, if you can manage to get 100 score on each mission.

Wouldn't the higher-level offerings net your more points, I would assume? Or just a higher credit payout?

I'll try to test out a 10k offering next. Though if I try solo, this means I only have 25% chance a Bursa will show up. And apparently, Council chat said that a score of 100 was the max in one mission.

Just did it with all three tiers of offering, the return interest is always 8% credit (IE 80, 800 and 8000 creds) and the max points you can get is 100 points.

The mission would not be worth my time if it wasn't for the event reward, 8% credit return is pathetic for the time needed to complete the transfer.

I have no idea how that is supposed to bankrupt Nef or fill my banks.

Killerwing Since: Sep, 2013

Confirmed. I also did it with 10k offering and I got 800 back. And the mission score at the end showed me 185, which is my total score at the moment. So basically like I said before, you can only get max of 100 points in a mission.

Also, if the Bursa is destroyed during the transmission progress, you don't lose your offering. At least it's a good thing to keep in mind, and it helps with idiots that would recklessly attack the Bursa, since after it's hacked, it loses its shields permanently.

Woot Quanta Vandal
In all seriousness, though: this event is about as interesting as watching toenails grow.

I think it's interesting. It's a new style of enemy that requires a unique method of dealing with it for maximum effect.

Okay, so having to hard-grind the missions is a bit tiresome, but the concept is at least neat.

The Bursas are interesting. They look nice, they're challenging, and there are three of them.
The problem is the event itself. You take a Frost with Chilling Globe and a tonne of energy restores. The event is a matter of finding the Bursa (which sometimes decides to play hide and seek with you, especially on Europa), keeping a globe up, and not killing it before the timer is up. And that's very interesting.

Admittedly, having just now gone through a higher-level round of it...

Wow, the top-tier ones take AGES to process. Like, minutes worth. Is that an effect of the Snow Globe? Or do they just take that long on the whole?

According to the wiki, the more people you have in your squad and the bigger an offering you're using, the longer it'll take, but there's no citation for that.

That does feel consistent with what I've seen. When it was just me with 1,000 offering, it went by in a flash. With four, eeeeeeeeeh

There's an additional detail I noticed last night as I was doing a few more attempts. Sometimes I would get around 1130 credits instead of 1080. Usually that would happen whenever I was being slow in killing the Bursa.

So it's very likely that you can get more credits the longer the Bursa stays alive during the Verifying Process. Obviously the risk there is that if you wanna get as much credits as possible, you'll need to do it when the process is almost done, however if you are too slow at that moment, you lose all your credits. Though keep in mind that if you decide to wait to get lots of credits, you won't gain a lot of points for the event.

I suggest first using only Humble offerings to at least gain the points for the event, then once it's done, you can use bigger offerings if you wanna try to get more credits.

[up] Actually I think it's related to the mission points you have acquired so far and it scales up the more Bursa you hack.

I stopped at 1000 points for the mods. I find the event boring, and a Quanta isn't enough for me to drag along to 1500.

I'll admit that I'm revising my opinion on it after multiple runs. The processing period simply takes too long, and the immediate rewards aren't nearly worth it. It's nice they made it such a long event, so you don't have to try and grind it out, but it's still pretty tedious. Which is a shame, because it had an interesting concept at least.

The concept is interesting indeed, and there are many tricks you can use to get the event done, however as of now, I think it's best to run this event with other people. The recent tweaks DE did with their hotfixes kinda discourage from going solo on this.

And btw, I got to 1500 points. About 600 points were from solo attempts, which were very painful and long to go through, while the rest was done with a random group, which was rather more efficient. Also when I was alone, I seemed to only get 100 points as a possible max reward, however with the full group later on, I could get a max of 200 points instead.

So yeah, if you want this event done quick, do it with people.

[up] it does seem that way, for starters now the bursa's level serves as a multiplier for points, which means the higher the mission's level the more points you get per bursa. also, it seems that now the lower offerings go faster, with the humble offering filling up in about 2 minutes. and lastly, they fixed players not getting points, so now a full squad is indeed the best way to look for bursas, as they have 100% spawn chance if the sqaud is full.

[up] I think the event goes much faster with the lower tier of offering. We just completed it yesterday and it was more bearable.

That said I kinda want to see if I can't make big bucks with the 100K offering...
