Remember APB Reloaded? That one game that died a paid subscription MMO and was reborn as a free to play MMO? Those guys just made a kickstarter for a new game called APB Vendetta. I mentioned this in the other APB thread, but I decided to make a thread dedicated to it.

It's apparently going to be an FPS version of Gunz Online (ie a sword-and-guns competitive multiplayer action game) and it will require only a single payment to get the game. There's no microtransactions (so far), for you'll be able to access pretty much everything in the game.

They're making this because they want to get some funding outside of Reloaded's resources to make a different team to use the latest Unreal tech to make improvements to the game that couldn't normally be done on Reloaded. If this Kickstarter succeeds, they'll make the game with all the engine improvements and backport some of those improvements into Reloaded.

Initial Stretch goals:

Stretch Goal 1: $750,000: CHARACTER EXPORT-TOOL EXPANSION; This goal gives us additional resources to create a character-mod-export tool from APB Reloaded to APB Vendetta. The APB Reloaded character customization system is a fantastic system, but part of the challenge has been its hard-coded reliance on the original APB engine. Reaching the stretch goal means you will be able to direct-export your characters from APB Reloaded into APB Vendetta to your own private server. Or spruce them up in 3DStudio Max before using them in Vendetta. Then you are free to share (or sell) them to your friends.

Stretch Goal 2: $1,000,000: MODDING TOOL UI SYSTEM Reaching Stretch Goal 2 will allow us to create a nice dedicated UI system for the Advanced Modding Tools. The base game will permit Mods to be created using external editors. Similar to Torch Light’s Torch Ed we would like to combine several tools under one nice streamlined UI to help make the modding experience streamlined.

$12,441 out of the needed $300,000 raised so far after 3 days. Rock Paper Shotgun made an article about it, and all it did was make people remember what the old APB was (a financial disaster), not what APB is now (a reasonably successful F 2 P third person action game with segmented yet large maps)
