It is the year 2113, and while many things have changed, one thing remains the same. Students are required to read old books, mostly public domain, for their Literature classes.

ITT post as a future student talking about which books your class is making you study. Is there anything new added? Have some works fallen by the wayside? How does your kid of 2113 react to a book written in the 1980s?

I can't believe I have to read Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory for my reading class. This book is so out of date! We don't even need chocolate factories, I can just use my food laser to generate chocolate!

So, apparently I have to read The Da Vinci Code for this stupid media studies class, and we're all supposed to write an essay on why it was so popular and what people of 2004 got out of it, and I just don't understand it. I mean, it's a terrible book, isn't it? So why is she making us read it?

Man, this Jurassic Park book, it's so funny! Did they really think genetically reconstructed dinosaur parks would be like that? All sorts of excitement and danger, not like the melfitz real ones with the tired old stegosaurs creaking around like they had arthritis or something. Imagine if dinosaurs actually ate people!

Wow, this Dr. Suess book seems so amazingly accurate. How did he know how aliens would look like in this time? I'm doing a report on this. It is called, "Suess: A Tale of Extra-Terrastrial Life Predicted From The Past."

We'll get points deducted if, instead of reading the print version, we use the telepathic 'audio' version instead. At least I can watch the film version in REM sleep, complete with me as protagonist.

Tech's here, now. American army is talking about 5 years for telepathic soldiers.

[up]Be careful which one you go with if you're using the REM version—My teacher assigned Glengarry Glen Ross to our class, and I couldn't stop blushing for a week after having all that filth come out of my mouth.
