So when I was little, my great grandmother gave me this VHS tape. I didn't even really remember the full tile of it. I just knew it had a character named Pippi Longstocking.

And despite the fact I hadn't seen the movie in maybe ten years, I remembered this song perfectly.

With my curiosity peaked, I wiki'ed it. To my surprise, this was an American remake of a beloved Swedish film or book or something. In fact some Euro posters elsewhere blasted our version of Pippi.

Now I don't know anything about that. All I know is I liked our version well enough when I was growing up.

Has anyone here seen this movie? Or the other movies? Maybe the cartoons? It's a much bigger franchise than I ever knew.

I recall seeing an American dubbed version of, I think, a Swedish Pippi film that was made in the late 70's while I was growing up. I remember thinking that it was a mite weird, in a good way.

I don't know that I'd call it a franchise, though, at least not in the traditional sense. Pippi's a beloved Swedish children's book character, and so, like a LOT of beloved characters, she get dusted off every other decade or so and run through the media cycle.
