Why do you think it has the potential to be great?
Violence is the last refuge of the incompetent."Only" being $99 might have something to do with that wishful thinking against Nintendo and its $300 Wii U.
Modified Ura-nage, Torture RackThis sounds cool on paper and is probably something that could get a lot of casual players interested in gaming, but there's no way something for $99 is going to be powerful enough to interest the major development studios or bring in the majority of gamers. While this might change the industry a bit, I doubt the Ouya will end up competing directly with the big three.
I don't think it's going to compete directly with the major consoles, it's going for something else.
As of right now I don't think it'll have enough good games to make it worth (it's likely to be just another platform for mobile games, only not mobile and with a controller), but I may be wrong (and hope so).
No regret shall pass over the threshold! There are quite a number of machines out there that are sustained solely by a dedicated homebrew/open source following. What's the problem with the Ouya going the same way?
No offense but it sounds like you missed out on some great games then. PS 360 for all its hardware flaws and dudebro catering actually had some really great games, online gaming reached its zenith and the systems themselves had a lot of potential that hasn't even been fully used yet, another reason I think jumping to the next gen is a bit foolish at this point.
If any notable games come out for it, I'll get it in a heartbeat, since it's actually affordable. On the other hand, I'm not going to get it just for the sake of having it.
Well, I mainly play platformers and mainly 2D ones, and those don't even seem to exist on the PS 3 or Xboxes aside from cross-platform stuff that I could just get on the Wii or PS 2. I might buy a console with none of my favorite genre if it was really cheap (and I mean REALLY cheap, like the $30 I paid for my Game Cube on similar faith), but it's definitely not worth paying full price for a console that I'm not even sure will have any games that interest me (not even the "full price" that's now at $200 or whatever). Consoles have ALWAYS been about the games for me. I don't give a crap about how powerful it is or how good its graphics can get; you can make a good video game on basically any system, no matter what hardware you have to work with.
But that's another story. As far as possible Ouya games go, this thread does have a long list of possible Ouya games, but I thought I read somewhere else that only about 20 of those were definitive...

I think that PSN and XBL have quite a few lower profile 2D platformers and you naturally need the corresponding consoles to play them.
Things does look not good in Ouya land...

Give me cute or give me...something?I think deep down, we all knew this was going to flop.
It's this gen's N-Gauge.
It's not even officially released yet. We can't just call it a flop at this point.
I only backed Ouya so I'd have a cheap Android device for testing stuff on.
That said, am I the only one who finds the "OUYA" buttons a dumb idea? If they're so hellbent that Ouya is supposed to reflect the "classic" console experience, why not use "ABXY" like everyone else?
@Hyp3r B14d 3 Square Enix is releasing a Final Fantasy III port and Double Fine is releasing The Cave and Broken Age (Double Fine Adventure).

The Ouya is getting generally negative feedback.
Jonah FalconThe question is why you'd get those for Ouya and not an existing system that's better equipped for them. Or just a PC.
Remember! Hyperbole is an exaggeration made for comedic effect, and shouldn't be taken literally!Do not worry, if Ouya falls these is still On-live.
Modified Ura-nage, Torture RackI spell Ouya G-I-Z-M-O-N-D-O.
The reason is to play Android games with a real controller.

Jonah FalconThat's the single funniest thing I've heard all month.

Remember! Hyperbole is an exaggeration made for comedic effect, and shouldn't be taken literally!Aren't most (all?) Android games designed around a touchscreen mobile phone/tablet interface? So what advantage would there be to playing them with a controller on a TV?
Violence is the last refuge of the incompetent. There are games which would be specific to the controller Ouya format. It's just a format a ton of mobile developers are acquainted with.
And we've seen games with touch screen console controls. Yuk.
Jonah FalconI still think the negative feedback this system's been getting is far too early to be made. The Ouya dudes themselves have admitted that it's not ready for proper review, so the fact that places like The Verge criticized it and attached a score to it came off as certain places not willing to give the thing a chance before it's even finalized.
The controllers are cheaply made. Period.

As seen here. I don't see any discussion topics of it that aren't months out of date, and there isn't even a trope page for it (even though the Play Station 4 has one despite its release date being far after the Ouya's). So...what do you think? I think it has the potential to be great, but it will probably get overshadowed by the "big three". There's also the problem of the creator possibly releasing a new version a year, which could really hurt sales if you ask me. Overall, though, I'd like to see the Ouya get more recognition. I might even develop games for it if I ever get into that sort of thing.
