White hair and pale skin are rare even in their native North Regions, let alone the mountains overlooking the Mar Desert. He was seen approaching from miles away. He climbed the mountain path, slowly, carelessly, as if he was not afraid of falling from the thin path. Halfway up the mountain was a small flattened area, meant for rest. Unlike the bandits on the summit, or any merchants or travelers going up the mountain, he did not stop. He had seen them many times before, and did not care to see them again. He continued up the slope. Finally, he reached the top of the mountain, just as the bandits finished preparing for his arrival. They drew their swords, pulled back their arrows, prepared to kill him. He drew his spear. 10 men charged him at once, yet he did not move until they were within range of the ornate blue spear. The archers did not see him moving; the swordsmen never had the chance to.

In the distance, the great gears turned.

Chapter 1

He found his intended target inside of the bandit’s camp. The lock was removed with ease. After he took the ages-old necklace out of the safe, he prepared supplies from the bandits’ stockpiles for the return trip. He left as he came, visible for miles, walking slowly, carefully, almost, back to Aeris, the nearest city. When he arrived in Aeris, he disappeared from sight the moment his employer received the lost heirloom. Most people approaching the great city stop to admire it, even if they did live there and knew it well.

The city was ancient, over a thousand years old. It was a city of sandstone, with towering porcelain spires adorned with tapestries and rare metals rising into the sky. The town was originally founded around an oasis. That oasis became the town square, and the water became the fountains in the city streets. It was a city of a hundred thousand lives, and to many, it was paradise. The Imper, the Marran government building, was the most magnificent of all. The tallest tower in the city, it rose a thousand floors and had each filled with work for the Marran government. It was viewed by the people of the world as one of the most beautiful buildings ever made.

Are you looking for feedback on the introduction? I just want to make sure I know what you want before I dive in.

Yeah, sorry, forgot to mention that bit. If you need more, I've got more written.

Edit: Adding the first section of chapter one onto there.
