She snorts. "Perhaps I simply have the safety of Rome at heart: perhaps I am nothing more than a good samaritan, doing her part to thwart evil. Are you truly such a cynic you doubt altruism as a motivation?"

Caleb takes the door with a bit of a grunt.

He stares at Alex for a long long minute as if pondering something, then slides the door onto his back, keeping hold of the handle with his free hand.

"Go to dinner with me."

"Be careful Anne I-" She stops. "You are a good woman, and there are few of those in this world. Be safe."

"With all respect, in our world cynicism is a self-defense mechanism."

She smirked. "So in that case, I should withhold the rest of the information I planned on giving you until I can think of something I desire in exchange?"

"Given that I strongly suspect that you intend to use this information to manipulate into furthering your agenda in a way we so far have not seen, in a purpose either aligning with ours or simply be convenient to yours...I do not think it will be necessary."

She snorted again. "You wouldn't happen to no a vampire? About yay high? Smarry with a love of criminal cliches and a face that looks like it would be so pretty to punch?"

Alexander looked over at him, not even bothering to hide the way his gaze traveled over the man's shoulders, waist, and crotch, trying to see if he could get Caleb to blush. And then he smirked, arrogant, playful, and teasing, his voice almost a purr.

"I'll consider it, Welsh. You still haven't apologized for earlier. But you're starting to impress me. Keep it up, and we might have a date."

He paused, sighting down his shotgun again, and grinned, eyes fixed on the street, his next remark perfectly casual.

"Besides, if you get me staring at your ass, I might miss the snipers."

"I always t-try to," Annette tried not to sound so bitterly sarcastic with her parting words, but they came out that way regardless. As she ended the call she gave her reflection one last parting grimace before walking out of the bathroom towards the couch, where she picked up her glasses and took from the crook of the arm what she'd used as a pillow—her leather jacket—and put it into her tote bag.

I try and I try and I try. It never seems to work out. Maybe I should call it quits on the whole 'live a peaceful life' thing and just...go with it?

Anne walked up to David's bed and gave his arm a gentle nudge, kissing him on the forehead. "Wake up, s-sweetheart. We're l-leaving now. C'mon and g-get dressed," she picked out her own clothing for the day out of the suitcase, holding it on her arm, and then placed clothing for him on the bed next to him, "I'm gonna ch-change in the bathroom. Hurry, okay? We n-need to go to f-Florence now."

"...That sounds eerily familiar." Jarl sighed. "Does that have anything to do with that auxiliary information or are you trying to hold more information about us over our heads?"

"...you're talking about Thorne aren't you? Bloody hell. This is a right old cluster fuck isn't it?"

Leon finally broke his silence.

"Oh das kann doch nicht wahr sein, verdammt nochmal." Tim muttered. "Natürlich ist das Arschloch auch hier. Wäre ja auch zu schön gewesen wenn nicht."

"I picked that up from the subtle context cues. Like your tones of voice, and having seen you interact with Alex.

"But look on the bright side! Maybe there are just more vampires running around humming Damn It Feels Good To Be A Gangster under their breath than you realized."

"Pretty sure that's not a bright side."

Leliana made a disgusted noise, Venari remained impassive but there might be a shadow of a smirk at the corner of his lips.

Caleb bit the side of his mouth as if considering. "That would be a-bad. Very bad. Aim for them snippers."

Hoisting the door over his shoulder he pushed the front entrance open, staying low to the ground, and made a break for it.

The second he was out of ear shoot Leliana turned to Alex. "Tell I get to punch him. He looks like he would make a funny scream."

As David started to come too it was with a gurgling and set of annoyed sniffs that would be more then enough to rose Ayda.

Ange blew out a jet of smoke: straight into upwards, where it morphed, forming into an angel with a face contorted in agony for a flicker of a second, before dissipating.

"Be warned. Alexander Thorne is walking a dangerous path. As his friends you may wish to dissuade him from consorting with Lady Penelope Cairidin. As his enemies you may want to kill him. Swiftly, before he can be used as The Enemy desires."

"Man. It's barely been a day and I'm already starting to feel like the Greco-Roman pantheon is just fucking with me."

Jarl turned back towards the others with a pained expression. "So, Thorne is here too. Does this change the immediate plan at all so far?"

M rubbed his eyes.

"Mon Dieu et Oh Nyame nous préserve, I hate vampires...."

"Well, the White Court are originally from Etruria, which is modern-day Tuscany. So no guarantees you won't see a few."

"One thing at a time, Lilaine."

Alexander's grin turned predatory, and edged closer to the window, staying low, finger light on the trigger of the shotgun, scanning rooftops, waiting for the snipers to make their move. His breaths were slow, even, measured, the barrel barely swaying, braced against a counter, his hunger a measured pulse under his skin.

"Unless it involves him in a empty plaza with hundred meters of free line of sight no idea on how to deal with him for now. I'd need some information on what exactly he is doing."

"I could just go, like, talk to him. That whole 'not openly slavering for his death' thing I have going on could be useful in getting information about what he and this Lady Cairidin are up to."

"Given is tendency to blow things up it is more preventive self defense."

Terry just stared at Tim for a moment. He opened his mouth, closed it without saying anything, and then tried again. "Ah, yes. Blowing things up means you need to be put down. You know, I think I owe you an apology. I've been thinking all this time you were Tim, since I've worked with him before, but I see now you must be his good twin. You know, the one who doesn't shoot fucking death rays."
