Annette let out a small grumble in no particular language and rubbed her eyes. She hadn't slept very well. Not like she ever did, anyway. But it was still easier for an insomniac to sleep in her own bed than it was on a couch in an unfamiliar room. Regardless, she picked up her phone and held it as close to her nose as she could to be able to read the text without putting her glasses on first.

"Then they have some sense of tactics."

Alexander frowned, looking down at his weaponry. A brace of throwing knives, with more in sleeves and boots. His shotgun, and a pistol. Hardly ideal for taking on snipers. He'd make it work.

He paused, looking around for anything reflective.

M shuddered as he entered the building and took care to stand nearby Tim. This place gave him the willies with all its power. And it was mortal power too. He was so much more used to the power of the Nevernever, the strength, the order, the... Council-li-ness this place exuded scared him some.

"I'm with Herr von Hochberg on this one, the less trouble we cause with the Council the better," His eyes darting around he building. "Say, are we going to be here long?"

As they enter they find Wizard Cynthia in what would likely be the drawing room, lounging about on a set of crates and blowing smoke from a gas-station cigarette.

She smiles as they enter, blowing a jet of grey at the ceiling. "I hope you do not mind lovlies." She winks at Leon, but also offers a lip-licked smile for M. "We all need a vice."

There are bits of broken glass scattered about from where the counter had been shattered- one or two shards of that might be large enough for what he has in mind.

"I'd be polite and offer you one of mine, but I do not think we have the time." Tim said with a faint smile. "I wanted to ask if our...associates would be free to look through the library here. We are looking for certain information to aid our various searches."

She shrugs. "General rule of thumb? If it hurts no one and would piss Arthur Langtry off, I will approve- No!" She snaps at a worker. "That is a solar credenza, not at drawing room one I swear by the Gods." She twirls her cigarette and stands. "At any rate- before you dive into the books, I suggest going to the rooftop." There is a glimmer in her eyes. "You have your first caller."

"...Is it too much to hope you mean my nordic associate beside me with that?"

"All of you. Requested. By name." She smiles. "Even the cute enchanter you hid from me." She adds blowing M a flirty kiss.

"..Are we to be surprised or can you tell us who wants to meet us?"

M grimaced an anxious smile as he politely bowed his head at their hostess. Then he shuffled a few steps back.

"Why does she know who I am?" He whispered raspy and harsh towards his team. "Why do they know who I am?!"

She laughed. "No one who means you harm. Probably. And she hates it when people give her away- I suggest seeing for yourself."

"...This doesn't sound ominous at all, does it?" Jarl rubbed his eyes.

Jarl gave M a sideways glance. "What, you mean the society of people whose whole shtick is trying to uncover and hoard precious information might actually have noticed someone creating a localized tornado above the Mediterraenean?"

"They couldn't have possibly have known it was me, By all rights no one should even be aware that I'm in Europe right now. i was kidnapped, remember?"

"Well, if they requested you by name, that leaves a very specific type of visitor."

"Including your former boss." Tim sighed and then moved toward the stairs. "Lets not keep them waiting."

"That and my old boss' favorite son. Shapeshifter and all." Jarl sighed and followed Tim up the stairs.

"This is gonna be a great day. I can tell."

M sighed and proceeded towards the stairs along with Tim, muttering a catchy sing to himself about how he didn't want trouble in his place.

Leon sighs as he trudges for the stairs with the rest of the group. Apparently they couldn't even hit the books without someone or something deciding to interfere for whatever reason.

Alexander's movements were quick, and careful, as he taped one of the larger shards at an angle to the barrel of his shotgun. Then he carefully moved to door, sticking out the makeshift mirror and trying to get a view of the alleyway.

The name Valerie de Blanca appears on Anne's phone.

The group heads up- Leon, Tim, Jarl, M, and Terry- to the roof, where they are treated to a truly beautiful sight: the cobbled roofs of Rome in the morning son, glowing gold red and white as far as the eye could see, alleyways spider webbing out in every direction.

A woman is sitting near the edge, also smoking. She was beautiful- a New England kind of air. Red hair done up and back, beneath a black woman's fedora with an emerald bow to the side. A black and emerald striped vest over a white shirt, and a pencil skirt, dark stockings, perfectly clean and shinny kitten heels. Her face was angular and hawkish, her lips a succulent red, forming a smile...a smile that screamed of secrets she enjoyed holding over others.

"Well, this is a pleasure."

"Wish we could say the same." Jarl took a hesitant step forward and inclined his head in respect. "But it seems we are at a disadvantage. After all, we don't know the name of our summoner yet. Nor her purpose in summoning us."

...When did I start taking points in Diplomacy?

She laughs, extinguishing the cigarette. "Call me Ange."

Ange, secrets... Jarl could feel his brain start to churn, but for the moment, he just inclined his head again.

"Well, now that we know our summoner's name, miss Ange, why did you call us here? And how did you know where we would be, or who we are?"

...ah, fuck. I knew I had forgotten something.

Annette scrambled up from the couch as quietly as she could, leaving her glasses on the arm of the couch, and pressed the talk button moments before she slid into the bathroom and closed the door behind her. She ran the hand not holding her phone through her mangled mess of hair, voice surprisingly alive, though strained, for somebody who had just woken up.

"Morning v-Val. I f-forgot to call you, d-didn't I...?"

Y'know, between the vampire and the warlock, it's a completely reasonable screw-up. But I should probably ease into that subject.

"...you w-want the full story n-now? I think I, um, owe y-you it. For r-real this time."
