The Dresden Files RP- "Edge Town"

Tim looked at Catelyn. "I assume this is some attempt to get invited into the Council safehouse?"

"Otherwise you could just invite me in." Subtext: If you don't trust her. He raised an eyebrow at Tim.

"Given our history with safehouses I am not exactly comfortable with that."

"That wasn't me. That was a crazy explosives enthusiast and a Greek zombie."

"I shall confer with the local representative of the Council on it."

Annette shrugged her shoulder, the one not with a small child resting on it, and smiled. "It's f-fine dear. I s-saved up a bit for th-this trip," she produced her wallet from her back pocket, "What's the c-cost of a two-bed room, m-miss?"

I had planned on staying with somebody for this part of the trip, sure, but...I should have enough for a night or two.

The woman looked between the three of them for a long moment, then nodded rapping her finger twice on the desk there is a burst of....oh home, familiar scents and sounds washing over the three of them. David smiles.

"Two bedroom suite. 20 euros should be sufficient." She nods at Anne. "A hearth should never bankrupt the weary traveler."

Katelyn snorted. "I think Council secrets are about as important to me as the secret to Ben and Jerry's ice cream, Germ." She winks. "But if you are so interested in defending your precious books by all means, check with your Council."

Venari purses his lips. "I suppose, if you like the rugged flannel and daddy issues look." His voice isn't tart. At all. "I suppose we'll just have to hope the assassins all fall before he recalls Venice."

"No offense but both Leon and I are already in the red with the Council, if doing the little things by protocol helps with that..." he shrugged.

"So Ben and Jerry aren't a couple of old winter gods or some shit? News to me."

"Not everything is supernatural, Terry."

"Not everything, but you would be surprised how much is. I have learned too much from things spirits have just casually name-dropped. Ever notice how Keanu Reaves seems to never age? Or why KFC's secret recipe is specifically 11 herbs and spices? I know where the ideas for Pokemon really come from, and I don't sleep as well as I used to."

"You mean the fact that Pokémon are a cutesey manifestation of the shinto concept of the kami, spirits of everything from inanimate objects to animals and nature to the revered dead?"

"Those dream-eating fuckers they based Drowsee and Hypno off give me the willies, I can tell you that."

Katelyn massages her temples. "At any rate- I believe we have a plan of action?"

The tiredness is setting in on everyone present- it's looking like it's time to turn in.

"Seems like it. A plan that probably looks a lot more reasonable after about thirty hours of sleep."

"Agreed."

"If they don't, this turns into a three-way. Which brings it's own sort of fun."

He shot Venari a suggestive grin, blood starting to pump in his veins again, the excitement rising again. Then he slipped out of cover, searching for a vampire to shoot.

Centro Storico- The Next Morning

The Council embassy in Rome was a brownstone- found in one of the cobbled back alleys of the city, three stories high and with bricks that hummed with magic for anyone that could sense it.

Most of the windows had been thrown open and from several, dusty linens where hanging. There where clear figures moving about inside- occasionally a lumbering over-alls clad worker shifting a piece of furniture could been seen in a window. But no one paid any mind as the group arrived at the sidewalk beside it.

It would almost be impossible to distinguish it from any other house in this old weathered part of Rome, except for the charm that hung on the door: a white pentagram, each point a different colored dot, encased in a pearly circle. The forces of nature contained and shaped by human will and knowledge: emblem of what The Council defined as "White Magic".

Venari sniffed and followed him back out into the main room. Three dead vampires, one alive but unconscious littered the floor. Caleb was wiping his knife off with a rag.

"There's more outside." He warned. "I wouldn't be shocked if they've got snipers on the roof. Whites hate fair fights."

Magia Riposo- Next Morning

Anne awakens, between David snoring on the bed and the rattle of a distant air conditioner to the ring of her phone.

Tim made a careful look up and down the street and then moved up to the door and knocked clearly.

Tim was answered by a burly but handsome man. "Halo? Kim jesteś?"

Tim took a second to identify the language before answering "Witam, jestem Kreator von Hochberg. Jestem tu w interesach rady."

He blinks and sighs. "Pani domu jest w salonie."

He opens the door, allowing Tim and the others to pass.

"Dziękuję." Tim nodded at him and then moved inside though the thankfully nonexistant threshold. "She's in the living room."

"Cool. I'll go look for the library while you make introductions. I feel like my chances of remaining on the Council's good side is inversely proportional to the amount of time I have to spend with wizards who aren't you two."

"I think we agreed upon to ask for permission, for propriety's sake, before you go in there." Tim gave Jarl a look.
