"Of course, this is Rome. Museums everywhere."

"Guess we'll just have to hit the books. There can't be that many literally ancient music boxes on exhibit. Even in Rome."

"Book hitting, much better than actual hitting," M said with vague enthusiasm. "Oh, wait, my comprehension of Italian... Does not exist, I may only be a detriment to the research portion." He rubbed his chin in thought for a moment.

"Maybe while you guys are on that I can go into the spirit world, consult Ntikuma and his friends, see if there might be some sort of Way to get is even close to where we have to be.

"Might be, on the other hand Rome is one of the big crossroads of the worlds. It can literally depend on which square meter you open a Way in where you land. There is a reason people say 'All roads lead to Rome'."

"Also, most of the museums are in the inner city - the old capital of the Roman Empire, not the metropolis that's grown up around it since. So there's almost no point to using a Way to get from place to place. Especially since I'm willing to bet the Ways around here are Summer territory, or property of the Wyldfae, neither of which is an attractive prospect in the least."

"I'd rather say opening a bet here is like playing Russian Roulette unless you know exactly the right places."

"Also there's at least a mild chance that one of those places leads to whatever the Roman equivalent of Mount Olympus is, and I don't really want to start fistfighting Hercules if I can help it."

"Course not. Leon's the punch wizard. Have him do it.

"You know, Mister M, all the tourism this place gets I wouldn't be surprised if there's information in more languages than Italian. The Yanks in the party might be able to dig up information after all.

"Or we're on donut and coffee duty. I can live with whichever."

"Actually, it might be easier for you to do the research that way. You can go dig through tourist brochures, and the ones who speak the language can go ask around. And of course, we'll want to keep an ear on the supernatural grapevine."

"Bring up the possibility of accidentally encountering Mount Olympus and you're worried about having to get in a beatdown with Heracles," M said with a grown and eye roll. "I swear, it's like fighting is all you do..."

"Aaaaanyway, I can live with running around checking out the tourist-y things, I've always wanted to visit Rome anyway. Tons of history, and we might even get lucky."

"For the supernatural stuff, if wouldn't hurt if I ask Ntikuma to give the city a look around and put is spiritual metaphorical ears to the ground, see what the other gods and spirits know. Who knows, he might even stumble upon the box's aura of we're lucky... And if he's feeling unusually generous with information..."

"Hercules. Not Heracles. When in Rome, use their terrible names for everything."

"And he's the gatekeeper of Olympus. I imagine he'd be mighty pissed if a group of random yahoos suddenly stumbled into town on his watch."

"Especially one from the rowdy neighbours from the north."

"Two northern neighbours. If you want to get technical."

Ayda sped out into the street, barely seeing Adrian in the rearview mirror, before slowing down and pulling over into a parking lot behind a supermarket. Only then did she notice that she was crying bitter, angry tears. Angry and bitter at Adrian for what he did and, in a way, continues to do, and angry at herself for having a panic attack at the mere sight of him. Between sobs, she wrote several shaky, tear-stained notes to Anne. The first few explained her reaction to him.

"When I was 15, he kidnapped me from my native country, and forced me to work as a maid in his mansion. He would beat me every day, often with magic. Eventually, I found a friend in his wife, but after he found out, he stormed in while we were talking and..." Here Ayda paused in her writing, hesitant to even put words to paper, traumatizing as the memory was. "He killed her. The next thing I knew, I was standing over him, and he was unconscious. There were police on the way, too, so I ran, and eventually I made it to Naples and got a job as a waitress. And then I met you and David." The last note only said "I'm sorry for everything."

"So we find the museum that has the box, scout the place out and then plan the heist. Maybe we should grab some other things beside the music box? So that they don't immediately suspect our end goal? Either way, we might want to at least get an idea of our next action after we get the box before we grab said box, depending on just how much nabbing the box sets people off. On that note, is the White Council embassy just a safehouse of sorts or is it likely to have information on the local supernatural scene?"

"Yes, Leon. Let's instigate a manhunt by swiping priceless pieces of European culture just to obfuscate our goal."

"What and stealing the box just by itself isn't going to start a manhunt anyways?"

"So maybe we make a fake box to switch with the real one. No manhunt, or at least a head start. All you caster types take ranks in Craft for your staffs and stuff, right?"

"Without tools?" Tim raised an eyebrow. "Unlikely for me. At best I could conjure a ectoplasmic replacement that lasts for a few hours....if I have a day to study it and develop the spell."

"Well, I guess we know why Loki picked M then, and made sure he had all his tools. So, I guess we just have to hope we can make the switch without revealing that there's been a break in in the first place."

"We could kill the security systems."

"Because thats not going to set off alarms?"

"Not if we kill the alarms first?"

"Thank you Jarl, for once I agree, let's not incite international incident by staging a massive artifacts heist when we only need the one," M said with a desperate look at Leon.

"So even if I were to make a replacement, how much time would I have to make it and how many resources to I have? I don't even know what it's made of and you guys will want me to get started as soon as possible if I were get it right."

"Well, we have a looming spectre of death in a group of crazy necromancers who have a beef with Tim. The more time we give them to organize the no-doubt-extensive amounts of ghosts and wraiths living in the bowels of Rome, the worse that's going to get."
