"Also, we need to figure out a system of Kats. And since Kat the hanyou isn't here, she's Katana from here on in."

"...I will tell her you said that."

"She can start wearing a white mask with a rising sun on it."

"It was that or an Inuyasha joke. I don't know which you'd prefer."

"...Do you want her to walk straight trough the alps to murder you?"

"I can run as fast as her now. I'm good."

"I know! What about Kappa?"

"...I might help her."

"I can run faster than you, too."

"Try run faster at five times earths gravity."

"So this is your plan to get a Valhalla-worthy death? Taunting the laser wizard and his anime lady friend?

"I like it. It's got style."

"That depends on your aim, Tim. I'll take those odds."

Anne grimaced, withdrawing her hand for a moment. "...excuse m-me for this..."

Without another word, she reached behind her neck and unclasped the necklace that she wore on it. She tugged out the pendant, an eloquently fine tree in cast iron, and touched it to his arm.

No less painful than the other option, but at least it's not his face.

Katelyn rolled her eyes. "I have aliases, if that simply works better."

The boy's teeth snapped shut and he let out a howl of pain as where the holy symbol touched his skin...whatever magic glamour was protecting him receded revealing grey emaciated flesh beneath.

And that was when Anne realized exactly who he reminded her off by sense of magic alone: a beautiful by scary woman named Marcy.

But when he looked up her with his (admittedly glamoured) eye they where full of pain and anguish. Desperation. "Please. Don't leave me to die. I don't want to die."

"As fun as this divergence about Jarl getting murdered by an angry hanyou is, well actually first..." Leon pulled out the ectomancy book that Tim had borrowed from Cynthia and put it in the center of the table. "I'm finished reading and taking notes on this. M, Jarl, Kat 2? Which one of you wants a look at it next? But besides that, we should get back on topic of what to do about the various factions that are going to be after our heads."

Leon frowned.

"...I want to say we should try talking to the Vatican at least what parts of it are in the know, but I doubt they'd be too receptive about us freeing a pagan deity under the orders of a different pagan deity. Still, any ideas if we could deal with them peacefully? I'd rather avoid fighting mortals if I could."

"As much as I enjoy rattling Tim, yes, if you have a different alias that would probably be best for everyone involved."

I'm not sure if this is better or worse.

Annette's eyes widened in panic as the boy's skin peeled back. Oh great. Oh shit. A Black Court vampire? She tore herself backwards to a standing position, keeping her pendant outstretched and David held tight behind her. "A-Ayda! It's a v-v-vampire!" she spoke in a high-pitched screech of panic, "P-Punch it! D-d-d-do something!"

Years ago, she had known a Black Court woman who had helped her. But she had been one of a kind, and definitely had been insane.

And right now...I can't take any chances. Not with David here.

But he's begging...he's scared...

"N-Now!!"

But I just can't.

"Please!" The boy pleaded. "I don't wanna die like...like mother. I just...I don't wanna die." He coughed and curled in on himself. "I'm just trying to do right by people I care about. By my family. By Q-ball. Everyone keeps dying and...I don't wanna be next."

Ayda takes a sharp breath. I hope he's telling the truth...

She made a "calm yourself" motion at Anne and handed her a note saying "Get you and David back behind a pillar, just in case this goes pear-shaped." Once they had retreated, she would ready three force bullets (but not fire them just yet), and carefully hand the vampire a note saying "Is there any way we can help you?"

Annette stared at the note, hand shaking. While this creature wasn't a Red Court, it was still a monster that worked in nearly the same way. Just being near it made the scars on her neck and shoulders burn.

I hate vampires.

"Th-th-this isn't time to show mercy, Ayda! Th-this...thing doesn h-have a soul! It k-kills people t-t-to survive! It c-c-could take control over any of u-us in an instant!!" she was trembling worse and worse, but she did step back from the nearly dead boy—well, technically he was already dead. Same thing.

She bit her lip, and still with her pendant out-stretched, started moving herself and David away from the corpse.

"...Ayda, if...if y-you don't k-kill it, it...it c-c-could kill us...p-please!"

"Please!" He pleaded. "Don't kill me. I don't wanna die. I...I haven't done anything to either of you, and I promise I wont. Just...just please. I swear I'll do anything." He was making choked sounds like he was cry even though no water came out of his eyes. "I just don't want to die."

Ayda tossed a glance towards Anne that was equal parts "Please?" and "I'm so sorry".

Annette just shook her head, holding her ground as best she could while looking absolutely terrified.

"Ayda, please...it's t-too dangerous!"

Ayda looked at Anne again, trying to convince her with her eyes that she should help the vampire- and saw real fear there. Anne didn't just hate vampires, she was terrified of them. She took a deep breath, turned back, and handed the vampire a note saying "I'm so sorry", then formed her hand into a finger gun in preparation for firing a force bullet...

...And stopped for a bit. There were words in Hebrew carved into her brass knuckles and anklets, but Chana hadn't had time to explain what they did, only that they were the Hebrew words for the Sefiras that made up the Kabbalah. Maybe they affected her spellcasting somehow? Ayda knew all ten Sefiras, but wasn't sure which ones corresponded to which knuckle or anklet. So, as she fired the force bullet at the vampire's heart, she thought "Tiferet" as hard as she could. Tiferet represented the sun (among other things), so maybe it would have some sort of effect on the poor thing that helped it along to death.

"I didn't do anything!" He shrieked with fear. "I don't want to-"

As it turns out Black Court don't die quietly or easily.

The bullet struck the teenager's chest and the magic that sealed around him broke in a shimmer of gold- his molted grey flesh, messy brown hair. He didn't seem scary or frightening in that moment just...sad. And alone. Empty and afraid.

His eyes and mouth fill with light- blue and toxic looking and begin to spiral out as his body crumples in on itself. With the glamour gone, whatever had been protecting him from the sun vanishes as well and grey turns to black- charring and peeling away. All the while the boy screams- louder and louder in greater pain until it cuts off, his lungs catching fire and his mouth filling with flame. He stops moving as the fire spikes, leaving a charred husk on the floor, devoid of any kind of life.

David's hand is tight on Anne's- shaking harder then ever in fear as he watches the vampire burn. He shakes his head.

Before anyone present can speak there is a slow, soft clapping that fills the parking lot. Both women spot him at the same second- turning to face someone at the end of the of the row, some silhouetted against a series of low roofs giving off pillars of smoke like some kind of battle had taken place, was a man twirling a carved wooden stake in hand, only slight singed at the shoulders of his leather jacket.

Adrian with his salty blonde hair was smiling, smug and pleased.

"Well well pet." The man calls out- his voice layered with equal measure venom and amusement. "You did save me some trouble there."

Ayda stood frozen in shock, mental sirens going off and naked terror and panic in her eyes.

Oh God no no not him not now no why gotta run hide flee shit shit shit- Anne!

Ayda shot towards Anne and David and tried to grab them and pull them into the car, strapping herself into the driver's seat and peeling out of the garage, with little regard for how fast she was going, or anything but getting away.
