Except she's not Twilight Sparkle, just like none of the others sharing the ponies names are really them.

They're others, alternate counterparts, but calling them fake indicates the EG verse is a simulation or a dream. No one for example says "Fakeverse!Twilight" when talking about the Lunaverse depiction of the character.

They aren't being tried to be passed off as just like the real ones for the sake of trying to get people interested in something whose only good points came from it's milking it's connections to the original, and without that has nothing. And that has nothing at all to do with the oringal.
None of them are the same species, not the same world, not even the same age, yet supposed to be exact sopies of the real ones, despite all the ways that makes no sense.
Then you have the seemingly ageless, multi century old demi-godessess that control the heavens themselves... who get demoted to freaking high school administrators.. and yet somehow haven't been dead for over a millennia if they are supposed to be the counterparts of the actual Princesses.
The Luna verse example fails because that is still the same world, if a different version of it, it was made as a twist, seeing how that world would be different, how the characters would be different with the different starting premise. EQG is taking something wholly unrelated in anyway to the characters, and then shoving copies of them into it just for the sake of getting people to watch it.
Puleeease, if that Twilight was a "fake", she would be colored black with red hair streaks and go all "I am the ultimate life form!"
It took me FAR to long to work out what the joke was about.
I bet Sunset Shimmer is convinced she's the ultimate life form.

@King Kix: Honestly, I could've seen them ignore Sunset and do the movie without her. However, I felt that if they did that, it would've made her (and even the first movie in many ways considering the way it ended) a complete waste.

There's a trope for when a series drops a character from the next installment without explanation when it would have made sense for them to appear. Four (five if you count the leaked one) shorts in and no sign of Sunset. I read somewhere she's not even mentioned in the novelization of the shorts, but I'd like confirmation on that.
I wouldn't put it past Hasbro to treat Sunset as simply "last year's villain" and just focus on the Mane Six, but I'm glad to hear that she'll be in the movie proper at least.
