Development studio closures

So many these days, may has well have a thread devoted to it.

• Epic Games closes Impossible Studios, which used to be Big Huge Games
• Sony cuts ties with SuperBot. Not a closure, but not good news for that studio.

Outspark is shuttered.

Oy this thread is depressing. Somehow I think it will only get moreso, with how many closures we got in 2012.

Arkedo disbands.

Not a closure, but Doug Lombardi's been fired from Valve. End of an era at the studio, really.

Update: Lombardi says it's not true. Maybe he should fix his profile then.

I cannot blame Atari for doing that. That studio's output was, to put it mildly, a disappointment.

Ambient Studios shuttered, Death Inc. cancelled.

Man this generation has been deadly.

EA closes Popcap Vancouver and Quicklime.

Not a closer, but Square Enix Europe hit with layoffs.

There goes Timegate.

Danger Close, virtually.

Trion Worlds hit with massive layoffs.

Victory Games is canned. Never even got to finish their first game.

Remember when they where called "Bioware Victory" because EA was throwing that studio name around on everyone and we where all wondering what the new Bioware game was and it turned out to be Command And Conquer and we where all like whaaaaaat?

This makes me LULZ though.
