Joshua felt confident his very brief crash course is the art of mobile suite piloting would enable him to at least get the robot walking. It was not that different from the time he had stayed up 24 hours in order to study for a Chemistry exam during the night to ensure he'd remember everything the morning before. Sure he fell asleep the very next class, but at least he got a B. This might have been slightly different since instead of cramming all night he had skimmed the text for a few hours before falling asleep but the basic idea was the same.
Up the portable stairs he went, getting closer to the chest cavity with each step. Nearing the opening in the robot's stomach, he saw that the cockpit was clean, and wondered if that was the result of the suit being airtight or if the guys from yesterday had given the inside a scrub down.
He let himself fall into the seat, finding that the cockpit was pretty spacious. Or maybe it was for him since it probably had not been designed with someone his age in mind.
"Okay, if memory serves, then we do this, this, and this to turn it on."
Above, the cyclops eye of the GINN flashed to life.
The group shrugged. One asked another,
“What did we find?”
“Let's see...” She brought out a list,
“One pilot suit...used...about a dozen mummified remains of various snacks...a few old cds...a trashy romance novel...two airline barf bags...not used...around a gazillion dead spiders...Oh yeah, found something labeled manual...not sure if its for the Zudah though.”
Christine would find the inside of the cockpit not unlike the others. Clean...with a few additions. Like the clearly not-regular-issue boombox which was bolted beside the seat.
When Joshua started up the GINN, Ysanne contacted him over the radio from the Tieren,
“Okay, easy does it now. Try taking one step at a time.” She glanced out the cockpit at the mechanics,
“We reset the controls for a Natural right?”
“Uh...yeah I think so...”

"And where is the book labeled 'manual'?" Christine asked as she settled into the cockpit, without closing the hatch. The inside certainly looked like the Zaku II cockpit that she been inside back on Side 3 when she was younger. She pulled up the basic controls for taxing a Zaku II on her e-reader, looking them over once more. She had of course read them before coming, but it is always prudent to have a reference ready. Though a reference specific to this mobile suit in particular would be more useful than simply extrapolating from a similar model.
"Also, did you put this boombox here, or was it already bolted in there?"

“Its in the glove box. On the opposite side from the boom box beside the seat.” Ysanne said.
“As for the boom box...we're not 100% sure why the boom box is in there. It's bolted to the seat so removing it is a pain in the ass. It is tied into the audio system on the machine, so you might get audio and so on a bit louder than the rest of us.”
The Tieren walked (stomped is more like it) in front of the Zudah and turned and waited,
“Alright, if you do manage to slip up, I'll try to catch you...”

Christine opened the glove compartment and began looking over the manual.

Christine briefly raised an eyebrow, wondering whether Ysanne had simply misspoken or was actually comparing this whole ordeal to a some sort of play or musical. It was hard to determine, in the case of the Student council president, both options could not be ruled out. Christine shrugged and began towards the Zudah, putting down everything except the e-reader she had brought with her, bringing up the reference on One Year War era Zeonic cockpit layouts.
When she was about halfway up the stairs she turned to one of the mechanics, "Did you find any operation manuals, electronic or otherwise, when you were cleaning this one out?"
