The Year is Alternate Era 499.

Mankind has long colonized space and hundreds of colonies containing millions of lives hang in Earth's orbit. While war has not troubled mankind for the last 200 years, that does not mean that there is not warfare still happening even today.

Now though, instead of conflicts to conquer and control, war has been made into a game. Various Space Universities, whole colonies dedicated to their schools, have teams made up of pilots who control machines known as Mobile Suits and Mobile Armors. Many of these teams are crewed with Veterans of their sport, true aces who rarely taste defeat.

This RPG is not about them.

This is the Colony of St. Andrews. Population 450,000 and falling. An O'Neill Island 3 colony, it is located at Lagrange point 3. On the far side of the planet it is one of the handful of colonies that is located in this area. It is considered the 'dead' zone, and has not been properly colonized. It also suffered several catastrophic accidents that resulted in several colonies being heavily damaged and abandoned.

As such the places are considered near perfect for the fast paced mobile suit competitions. But no one likes living there.

The colony of St. Andrews is in severe financial difficulties. Years of mismanagement has finally caught up with the school and now the student council is left with few options. They have already cut many of the schools activities to try and save money.

Now the Student Council has embarked upon a bold plan to try and save their school. They're reactivating the mobile suit team which had been disbanded ten years ago in an attempt to win the inter-university championship and the ludicrous prize money.

Student Council room.

“ARRGH!” Yelled Ysanne Taihou as she threw a book across the room.

“How can it be so goddamn hard to set up a club that can save our school?” She growled as she looked over the various ledgers and old records of the Mobile Suit club. Finally having enough she pushed them all off her desk. She spun around and pointing at the two lackeys standing by the door.

“You and You! Go to the classes and get people you think might have some ability at pointing mobile suits! Now! Bring em to the old hanger in section 1C.” Then she stomped out of there, heading to the hanger she had indicated.

I leave it up to everyone exactly how you get roped into this. Moerin of course you don't get pulled in right yet but you show up later as the Captain.

"You there, stop," Christine commanded a boy flying down the hallway at well-above walking speed. She recognized him as a member of the student council, one the president's errand boys.

"Student council or not, running down the hallways except in the case of an emergency is against the rules," Christine informed him, striding over with her hands on her hips. The boy was taller than her, though it was clear who was commanding the situation at the moment. More importantly...

"Now, what exactly is the President screaming about this time, and why does it have you running like a scared little puppy?" Christine asked.

"Well, that's..."

((Exposition))

"Again with that half-cocked plan of hers. So, which of the first-years were you aiming to abscond with?" Christine followed up the boys explanation, glancing at the staircase just behind her.

"I.. I didn't say anything about first—"

"You would have slowed down by this point if you intended to stop on this floor. Considering the location of the student council room, it was the most likely destination," Christine interrupted, raising an eyebrow as she turned her head back towards the now visibly unsettled lackey. "Need I repeat my question?"

"N-no ma'am, I was going to go ask the new transfer student. She's obviously a genius, so I figured that she might be able to help; well really I just jumped to the most talented person I could think of."

Hasegawa Chie was certainly much smarter than average, although she might have trouble reaching a mobile suit's pedals. And control sticks. And ceiling switches.

"Very well then, carry on. At walking speed." Christine added, before turning to continue back to her duties, the president's silly plan still in the back of her mind. Being the most feasible plan doesn't necessarily make a plan very feasible in and of itself.

<thud>

The lackey, who only a moment ago looked as if the one of the plagues of Egypt had passed over him, had tripped on the stairs, and clearly was having trouble getting up on his own. Christine sighed, before walking over and helping him get to the nurse's office, promising to help him with his task on the way.

Christine opened the door to the first year classroom. She scanned the room, before finding her, or rather (by proxy) the president's, target.

"Hasegawa Chie," she announced, "The student council president would like a word with you. I'm here to escort you to the old hanger by section 1C."

Hasegawa Chie was reading the newest volume.

The manga she currently possessed, Watashi wa kyō wa Watashi no Futago o Mitashite iru Hazuda to Omoimasendeshita, was an enjoyable one. It was about a shy, introverted girl who had now encountered her outgoing mischevious pervert of a twin after being separated at birth. Now, the girl had to deal with people thinking she was the perverse trickster. It was a fun manga, and Chie was an avid reader. As she was with just about every other title permissible for those under eighteen to read. Coming from a rich family certainly had its benefits in regards to purchasing anime, manga, and games. Chie was rolling in her favorite media, metaphorically speaking. She wasn't messy and therefore didn't have large piles of it to roll in, obviously. And given that there wasn't any teaching going on at the moment, it was the perfect time to read the latest volume of Watashita.

When the older girl entered the classroom, Chie didn't so much as look up. Even when she asked her name, Chie was thoroughly focused on the manga ahead. Why was she asking after her, anyway? She was busy with her manga.

However, she did eventually decide to respond.

"Why? I'm reading the newest volume of Watashita."

Christine's eyebrow twitched at Chie's defiance. Christine looked over the diminutive girl, before her eyes settled on the manga she was reading.

"Aside from the guideline about complying with the student council that's listed on page 4 of the student handbook, the plan the President has cooked up to prevent the school closing is, more or less, likely to turn into a real-life version of a shonen manga about saving a school."

"Also," Christine continued, moving her hand so that it obstructed Chie's view of the pages, "I could confiscate this volume of," Christine looked down at the title pausing for a moment and raising an eyebrow, "... a manga that has a title longer than should be allowed on the ground that it is obstructing the student council's work." Christine looked back at Hasegawa Chie, straight into the 10-year-old's eyes, waiting for her answer.

Chie stared right back. Her interest had been somewhat stirred when the mention of saving the school via shonen antics came up. What kind of shonen, she wondered? Fighting tournament? Robot? Comedy? Seemingly aimed at a seinen audience when it was in fact still shonen?! The threat of the confiscation of the new volume of Watashita was completely out of line, though. In spite of this, Chie slowly shut her manga and rose to her feet. The draw of possible shonenesque antics was enough to get her attention. Chie read all manga and watched all anime. Whatever demographic it had resembled, shonen, seinen, shoujo, josei, multiple demographic appeal, she would likely have been somewhat drawn in.

When she spoke, her tone was very deadpan.

"I'm not going with you because of some threat," she began, picking up her bag and tucking her manga away, "I'm going because you mentioned the anime or manga-like antics. And also because I would like some juice."

"Whichever you find more acceptable," Christine replied, removing her hand and chalking up another win in her mental tally. Always offer both the carrot and the stick, they're bound to choose one. Christine surveyed the classroom once more before making to leave. From her recollection, most of the students in this class were involved in clubs already; they'd be harder to convince. If she could find someone who wasn't currently in a club, that would be ideal. Then her eyes came to rest on a blonde kid sitting across the room.

"You," Christine called to him, tapping her head several times in an effort to remember, "Chamberlain, right? You're not involved in any clubs at the moment, correct? That means you're coming too."

"Yeah. Sure. Awesome." Joshua said with as much liveliness as a sloth vegging out to late-night TV reruns. He offered an equally unmotivated thumbs up without even glancing up to see who he was talking to.

Like Chie, his face was also in a book. Unlike Chie, he was not exercising his mental capabilities to absorb the latest in serial graphic literature, but denying the psuedo-solar visible rays produced by the colony entry to his eyes. So it was not that his face was in a book so much as the book was on his face, covering his eyes while his head was leaning backwards to block out the lights while he took a power nap between classes.

Ugh, stupid roommate. Stupid roommate and stupid movie marathon. Why did I stay up past 3 to finish Rolling Thunder V? Why did I drink so much sleep-depriving sugary sodas right before I went to bed? Why do classes start at 7:30 in the morning? Does it even count as morning if we're on the opposite side of the planet from the sun? Why do I have to - Wait.

Joshua's head righted itself, the book falling onto his desk with a dull thud. The tired expression on his face turning into one of confusion. Noticing Christine finally, he sat up straighter and adjusted his glasses.

"Hold on, what did I just agree to?"

— Christine Hepner —

"You've been enlisted in helping the President with a half-cocked stupid plan that may prevent the school from closing." Christine explained curtly, folding her arms. "The President needs as much help as she can get, and if I recall correctly you're not part of any club. I am helping her round people up. Tuck your shirt in and please come with us."

Ignoring whoever the older girl was questioning, Chie proceeded out of the classroom with her bag. She was rather curious about what was going on, and supposed that she would find out soon enough.

But first, juice.

Stopping at the vending machine, Chie slipped a coin in and pressed the desired button. Immediately, a can came rolling down. It was a can of Chie's favorite: A cocktail of fruit juices mixed to what she felt was perfection. Picking up the can, she popped it open and took a sip before heading downstairs.

It wasn't too long before she made it to the hanger.

I get to ditch class? Sweet.

Tired as he was, Josh needed no further prompting from the Ethics Committee girl. Dutifully tucking in his shirt after he got up, the teenager stuffed the textbook into his bag before throwing it over his shoulders and walking over to Christine. He was struck my her bright and well groomed red hair, remembering just now he had not combed his own before coming to school. Ah, well. Time for that later.

"Lead the way!" Joshua said with a grin.

Somewhere Outside
"I don't know, you tell me what it's like" Tony was saying to a trash can that was on its side. He was rolling it around by kicking it, and if someone listened carefully, they could hear what sounded like a male freshman calling out from inside of it. "What? You said you could take on American trash, why is this such a problem?"

"Hey, you messed with the wrong guy!" another student called out. A pair of them approached to help out their friend.

"Yeah, now you're going to pay for it, asshole," the other one said as they charged.

"Oh, you think it'll take both of you, huh? Guess that means you're each half a man," Tony started rolling up his right sleeve, "It's your lucky day, you Einsteins are gonna find out why they call me 'The Renovation'."

With that, he kicked the can towards the pair and the brawl started.

— Christine Hepner —

"That was easier than expected, though leaving out the parts that involved operating heavy machinery and having to participate in a Mobile Suit competition probably helped," Christine thought to herself as she and Joshua made their way towards the hanger. Though she had initially been perturbed that Chie had left without her approval, she had caught a glimpse of the girl a few turns ahead of where she and Joshua were. Since Chie seemed to be going towards the hanger, Christine didn't feel the need to force her to stop and wait. Unless of course she wasn't at the hanger when Christine and Joshua arrived. But no need to deal with that unless it happens.

A loud banging interrupted Christine's train of though, as a nearby trash-can collided with two students who were already in the process of jumping a third. Never a dull moment. Christine made sure her arm-band was in place and began walking over to the brawl.

"This will only be a moment," she said to Joshua, before addressing the fighting students. "You three, stop this nonsense now!" Christine demanded.

"Says you, why should we?" A fourth student asked, climbing out the trash-can, and picking various bits of filth off of his body. Christine responded by pulling out her cell-phone.

"Vice-principal. Speed dial. Eight," she said, holding the phone eye level and getting her thumb ready to hit the call button. "Now kindly explain what exactly is going on here."

"This shit ain't none of your business, Red," Tony said as he held a freshman in a headlock and was in the process of throwing him at the other one. "If you know what's good for you, get the hell away before one these chucklefucks misses a swing and uglies up your pretty little face."

— Christine Hepner —

Christine took a deep breath and sighed, pushing down her urge to find the nearest sharp object and repeatedly embed it in Mr. Lombardi's face. And stomach. And rectum.

"Ah, Mr. Lombardi, didn't realize you wanted to leave school so badly then. I'm sure your parents will be happy to meet you on the next shuttle then, considering it hasn't yet been a full month since your most recent major infraction." Christine flipped her phone around, activating the camera, and began snapping photos of fight. "That headlock's actually quite useful. I can get both your faces in the same shot. Going to need evidence to for the disciplinary meeting anyway, and I'm sure your parents would love to know why they've once more been graced with your presence. What with them wanting to get you as far away from them as possible, like we talked about last time you got into one of these fights."

"Now, Mr. Lombardi please let the freshmen go," Christine continued with a tone of finality, "I want the three freshmen to go wait in the morals committee's office. Mr. Lombardi you will follow me until I finish what I my errand, and then the five of us will sort this out. I already have photos of everything, the school keeps information on where all of you stay on the colony, and the colony has finite space to hide. If you try to evade capture, you will be found. All it will do is add truancy to the charges. Am I clear?"

"You goddamn ball-breaking bitch," Tony said. He finished throwing the one he had headlocked into the other one and shouted "You're lucky she saved your asses, you bastards."

Turning, he added, "So what the hell do you want me to do? You just got a thing for Italians, Red?"

— Christine Hepner —

"Hardly. I simply do not trust the four of you to be in the same room and not break each other's faces if I'm not around to hold the leash, and I still need to take this young man," she said, indicating towards Joshua, "to the old hanger before I can get on with business as usual. Follow me please."

"Mr. Chamberlain, I apologize for the inconvenience," Christine said with a slight bow, "the hanger is this way." With that, Christine began moving towards the hanger.

Ball-breaking bitch. I gotta use that sometime. Joshua thought while he chuckled at the byplay between the guy he'd never seen before and Cristine.

The other freshman sulked off, glaring at the three teens still remaining before disappearing from sight around a corner. He briefly wondered just why they had been fighting but the look on Tony made Joshua decide he was not in a story telling mood. He decided not to press the issue.

Shrugging, the blonde boy followed Christine. "You sound pretty New Yorker for an Italian." he said to Tony as he passed him.

Tony followed along, wondering what sort of garbage he was going to be roped into. Part of him was tempted to just run up to Christine, wrestle the phone away from her, break it in half, and then go finish what he started, but he had principles. He also heard quite a few rumors about the girl from the ethics commit having a propensity for intensity when it came to things, and he sure wouldn't want to stay at the school and risk her pulling something crazy.

But the other guy... he was fair game.

"New York? NEW YORK? Do I look like a limp-wristed Coney Island regular with a funny accent, you damned homeless-Aryan-looking son of a bitch?" he asked. " I'm 100% Jersey original. And remember blondie, if I'm getting kicked out, it won't matter if I beat the shit out of three Freshmen, or four."

"Okay, pretty Jersey for an Italian then." Joshua corrected sarcastically. Karate lessons in the third grade notwithstanding he wasn't much of a fighter, but he doubted Tony would do anything with Christine ready with her dial-a-principle phone handy.

"And for the record, my grandparents were Russian." He added as they followed Christine to the hanger.

Christine knocked on the large, metal, hanger door when she, Joshua, and Tony arrived. "Hello, Madam President? You in here? This where Yuu said to bring people for your rather ill-advised plan, correct?"

"So what did you do to get roped into this?" Tony mentioned to Joshua, and then he turned to .... Wait. What did she say after knocking on the hangar door? The president? He was starting to regret not just going back home. Whatever thing that two of the craziest girls at the school were working on couldn't be healthy.

"Volunteered in my sleep." Joshua answered truthfully. "Still not entirely sure why I'm here. Hope we're getting extra credits for whatever this is."

WAY Down along the side of a hanger a small human sized door open and Ysanne stuck her red head outside and turned to look at them. She yelled to be heard over the distance,

“The door is seized shut! Gotta come in this way till we fix it!”

This way was a very narrow, very cluttered hallway that Ysanne had to turn sideways to squeeze down to fit. Once she had to duck down and actually crawl through a narrow passage where a massive and heavy locker had fallen over to get to where the hanger was.

Upon entering the hanger, with only the very little light being provided through old and semi-burnt out florescent lights, the others would find Ysanne in front of a massive blue figure that was semi-leaning over her. It was hanging in a bunch of fallen cables which kept it from face planting on the floor. Twin massive tanks stuck out from its knees. On its shoulders where what looked like shields.

She shrugged when they entered,

“Well...we kinda knew we wouldn't be dealing with the absolute best in quality.”

Christine followed down the hallway. Every now and then making a highly un-amused look as she passed by a particularly cluttery looking section of the hallway.

"Yuu fell on the stairs is currently in nurses office. I was nearby at the time, and decided to round up a pair of people in his stead. Hasegawa Chie, whom I'm sure you know of, and Joshua Chamberlain, whom I recalled doesn't currently participate in any other club activities."

Christine then bowed briefly, "If that is all, I have disciplinary action with Mr. Lombardi that needs to be attended to. Off-colony suspension is likely this time, and that would require me get approval from both the faculty and a two-thirds majority of the morals committee."

Chie turned to face the read head poking out of the doorway, and calmly plodded over to the door, sipping her juice. She was small enough that slipping through the small gaps wasn't too much of an issue, though she still had to duck and nearly crawl to get underneath the locker. She didn't look too bothered, but really, a path like this seemed dangerous. It would obviously have to be cleaned up.

When the small girl entered the hanger, she had to pause a moment to let her eyes adjust to the darkness. She didn't trust the hanger not to be a mess after seeing the state of that hallway. What she saw was... a great deal of cables, and a large and very run-down mecha. Chie stared blankly for a few moments, and took another sip of her juice.

"If this is the start of a saving-the-school anime, it's a pretty crappy one," she finally commented, her tone utterly deadpan, "It better be the kind that gets better after the first episode."
