[up][up] Yeah, it wouldn't fit, gem architecture and art, as far as we've been shown, has some traces of classic or neo-classic works, which means that depicting someone in unflattering clothes would be a no-no.

@Mousa: Given all the terrible dangers (including monsters with acid spit and similar attacks) that the Gems deal with on a frequent basis, I'm unconvinced a fall can break a Gemstone. In fact, why wasn't it such a threat that broke it in the first place? It would've been far more believable.

And I was trying to avoid using the word "fat". And I did say that both Rose and Amethyst are attractive as well.

I think it's because Amethyst fell on the stone. She should have landed on her back and waited for her spine to heal. smile

Have the gems ever been a position where they've been hit really hard directly on their gem before this episode?

If not, then something like what happened now isn't really that hard to believe. Especially since real Glass/Stone like material is pretty durable to most things, if a really hard direct hit doesn't break it, it'll leave behind a crack of some size.

Alternatively, I thought of it as Amethyst's gemstone was weakening over time, since she does seem to get injured the most. I guess without Rose Quartz for the past decade or so, there was nothing to improve its condition so she kept it a secret, because Amethyst just seems like the type of person (Gem?)who wouldn't want to admit that type of a worsening condition. Probably none of them would've wanted to go visit Rose's fountain either unless it was an absolute necessity, since they don't seem to be completely over her absence and I guess they didn't really want to be reminded of her and her "death", hence its state of disarray.

In that case, I guess that fall was just the straw that broke the camel's back.

Physical damage to the Gem isn't really the same as physical damage to their actual bodies. Getting injured often shouldn't effect the Gem, because if that was the case...it shouldn't be possible to take a fatal injury and the Gem is still there.

Well I was going by the assumption that healing physical injuries takes a certain amount of energy from the gem, and maybe a multitude of wounds on the illusion the gem has to maintain would cause the core itself to weaken. That said, this is all just a theory of mine and doesn't really have much canon basis, I just found it easier to justify the crack with this mindset.

Amethyst's gem is also in a much more commonly struck place than the others. Garnet's too, but that's why she wears gauntlets: Garnet just wears a shirt, so anything that hits her in the chest carries the risk of striking her gem directly.

Pearl just has to worry about headshots, but that's a bigger problem for her because her head is wider than the rest of her body.

[up]yeah that's weird, I mean I know they are supposed to be symbolic and in good aesthetic design, and it is a cartoon after all but, their bodies are literally what they want them to be, its a bit baffling that having at least a couple hundred of years of battle experience they haven't found a better design for their bodies.

[up][up]What does it matter how big her head is? It's the gem that's important and they clearly can't change what those are like. Putting it in a smaller body part wouldn't make the gem any smaller of a target.

[up]They're all capable of shapeshifting and regenerating bodies, but they might not be able to control their Shapeshifter Default Form.

[up]could be, or at least really limited control since pearl did regenerate with different duds... that might actually be true because, even when she shifts, Amethyst's gem stays in roughly the same place.

So, was Rose's weapon also a shield? Cause if it was, someone would mention it by know, but I can't exactly picture her with a weapon.

Man, Pearl is funny when she's freaking out.

Also I totally second "would keep the glasses" thing.

Well, Rose had the Light Cannon as at least a secondary weapon. I think it's been at least implied the shield was her magic summon-out-of-nowhere weapon.

And if the speculation about that place Lion took Steven to train belongs to Rose is correct, she has an amory of weapons.

[up]Indeed, Rose seems to have been unusually kind for a Crystal Gem, but she still was a Magic Warrior and probably kicked her fair share of ass. wink I can't wait for a Flashback Episode so we can properly meet her, hopefully showing how she fell in love with Greg too.

Okay, CN Asia cannot follow programming schedules to save their lives (at least in the Philippines). They aired Ocean Gem early and pretty much spoiled it (and Mirror Gem as well since the most spoiler-free way I can put it is that the two episodes are connected.) It was epic though so I'm now a mishmash of emotions :/

I've found synopses of the whole next season already, but I've also seen people disputing that they are real. For instance, there's one episode called "Fusion Crime", where the synopsis is, "In an effort to win over Connie’s parents, Steven convinces the Gems to fuse together and pretend to be his mother." It doesn't make a whole lot of sense, does it? If Connie's parents aren't okay with any of the Crystal Gems individually, why would it help to present an utterly gigantic woman (with extra body parts) that nobody's ever met? I guess it could work if the idea is that a fusion has superior shape-shifting ability and so could impersonate Rose Quartz if Connie's father decided to press the issue of who actually has custody of Steven, and I can understand the concern when, according to a preview clip I saw of "Mirror Gem", Steven doesn't even know what SCHOOL is. (That's another thing, didn't someone from the show say in a Q&A session that the Gems were already homeschooling Steven? Meh.)

Another odd synopsis I saw was "Lion 3: Straight to Video": "Lion won’t stop laying on Steven’s face while he sleeps." That's... That's just... How could that possibly be a good episode? How can that even be a good setup for one? ...I guess we'll see...

[up]Yup, the best is that we'll wait and see if the claims are true. It seems a bit outlandish, but if I told you want happens in "Ocean Gem", you'd probably think the same way about it tongue

That alleged preview of Lion 3 sounds like the summary we got for the episode with Pearl's hologram, where it was one sentence about the first few minutes that missed most of the actual plot. With that in mind, these sound more plausible. Doesn't mean they're legit, but still.
