Speculation on what would possess the Council to persistently threaten what seems like prosecution overreach.
Evaluation of the soundness of the Mason's idea, and its reproducibility and sustainability.
My own contribution: I do not feel like I understand the situation enough to give an opinion. The interventions of those native to Britain would be welcome.

The Mason bought a 400 m^2 farm, went to live there on a trailer, and achieved their dream of becoming self-sufficient, even providing the nearby village with ecological produce. The local Council, in spite of the citizenry's protests, threatens legal action and even imprisonment if they don't leave, because the terrain is not classified as habitable.
