This is wishful thinking. I don't even think that this is the reaction of most gamers. From what I saw, they are mostly like "We gamers won over the evil Microsoft! There is nothing suspicious about their sudden 180° turn at all! Because we are the winners!"

It remains to see how successful they will be. However, I doubt that the XBox One will crash and burn like some expect it to.

People aren't as awful as the internet makes them out to be.

IN MAH OPINION

Worst console: Virtual Boy

Best console: PS 2/SNES

[up] Drop the price and it'll have a better chance. Or did they already do that?

PS2 is definitely the all-time best. It's the best selling console of all time, and it has the biggest and best library of all time.

I agree. PS 2 has excellent exclusives, pricing and capabilities. It's my favorite console.

Everything else scrapes at the heels of the brilliance that is the PS 2. Before and after.

I wonder what made the PS 2 so special since the people behind it weren't able to give it a proper successor. Maybe they'll strike again this time.

Or maybe the PS 2 is also the industry's greatest villain for keeping everything else in the steely grip of its living shadow.

[up]The PS 3 wasn't a successor to the PS 2? Sure, whether it was worthy or not is questionable, but, why is it not a successor?

...so, any news about the Ooya? it seems to have disappeared off the face of the planet...

The Ouya's not up to speed with the other consoles, not even the Wii U, since its library is generally non-notable indie.

So basically like all the other consoles that aren't the Big 3 then. Carry on

As for the Ouya, apparently there's unrest because they failed to deliver to their backers from Kickstarter what they had promised, like an extra controller or an early console.

and lolgoogle console. I mean, sure surprise us and have us 20 years in the future going "How could you not play the Google Game Pro 900 bro" but, I'm fairly certain the big three consoles will remain the real sellers in the market.

Holy Grail, huh? Cool story, bro.

It also says they want to get out in front of Apple in the console market. Apple making a console doesn't seem too impossible, considering that Microsoft did.

A ton of people making new video game consoles at the same time is a horrible horrible idea.

[up]It's more like a ton of people making new consoles at the same time which can compete with the big three as they are now is a bad thing.

Why is Apple even bothering with a console? They've got the iphone, ipad, and Macs. They don't need a console to sell games.

[up]It's a potential electronic market they could make an attempt in. The Apple name could guarantee some exclusives.

A market that will be damn near impossible to break into since the hardcore crowd has already aligned themselves with one or more of the big three for the most part.

[up]*Looks it up* Wow, so they actually did make an attempt in the past. But this talk of Apple attempting to break into the console market again is just Google's speculation. We don't know for sure if they'll do it.

Anyone else want this generation to be decided already so that we don't have to worry about it anymore? My mind's been considering so many possibilities as to how this generation could turn out, with particular emphasis on the Wii U's fate. (For the record, Nintendo is my favorite company out of the Big Three, and I kind of want them to do really well this gen.)

Likely busy writing something.

[up] You have a point. I guess what I really want is to know how this generation is likely to go for the foreseeable future, especially for Nintendo.
