Ok I love the game probably as much as anyone here but it failed in so many areas.
Technical problems, character faces, terrible interface, buggy AI, enemies spawning in mid air, broken quests. A plethora of writing issues such as inconsistent characters, plot lines, unlikable characters etc. And there are a lot more that I am not even going to get into.
The game had serious potential to be the greatest game in a LONG while but it squandered it.
Also having LGBT characters didn't stop other Bioware games from getting good scores.

Honestly, my biggest problem with the game is that, compared to other Bioware games, the characters just lack personality. DA 2 had a lot of problems, but at least I still remember (and like) most of the companions from that game, with Varric and Aveline being personal stand-outs.
In Andromeda, the only one that ever stood out to me was PB, and that was more because of her obnoxiousness and confrontational behavior with others on the ship than for any likable or interesting personal qualities. I play Bioware game for the characters exaggerated and cliched though they often are, ans thus my personal opinion on the game has soured.
But this is what you get when you let your B-studio take the reigns.
Drack and Pee Bee were the highlights of the cast for me, it's hard to do Wrex 2.0 wrong and Pee Bee was Liara written as a non-precocious Asari.
The only character I outright hated was Brodie cause of the insubordination without any kind of penalty.
Everyone else was just forgettable.
I liked Vetra and Drack.
This game being dropped is a total waste though. It was flawed, but totally salvageable. Well, I guess we'll have to wait a decade for the next entry now, until EA considers the nostalgia is strong enough.
Welp, what a waste, this year is the goddamn 10th anniversary of the franchise.
Ah, good old mob mentality, turning things into black and white while foregoing critical thinking. The game was quite salvageable, but oh well.
Meh.
On the bright side, ME 3 will probably end up being more fondly remembered and I'm happy about that. It was a good game.

Welp that makes it official. RIP Andromeda :/

That guy was banned, so the link's not there anymore.
I was the one who posted the link and I'm pretty sure I'm not banned.
Are you though? Are you sure you aren't banned?
Hitokiri in the streets, daishouri in the sheets.Yeah, the link to the announcement wasn't posted by our mystery buddy.
Ah, my bad. Page before last, didn't think we'd gone through that many posts already at a glance.
Welp, guess now's as good a time as any to get it. It's such a shame; no DLC, no more updates...Andromeda's a black spot on ME's otherwise stellar history.
That is the face of a man who just ate a kitten. Raw.Anyone who still finds ME 3 or its endings awful or an awkward topic coughs and looks around to avoid eye contact
The ending is still awful. It's not because something else awful happens that it un-awfuls the rest.
I do find it sad that EA persevered through the much more vitriolic outburst that ME 3's ending, while MEA's far more moderate reaction has them bail out on it. Oh well. Will just play other games in the meanwhile.
Might want to be careful about ME3 since its single-player campaign ending is, as far as I'm aware of, a banned topic according to the forum rules.
Huh, I'd never noticed that particular topic ban. Coulda sworn the ending's been discussed at length in the General Discussion topic for years now.
Hitokiri in the streets, daishouri in the sheets.Basically, there was a vandal who REALLY hated people who expressed even the most remote dislike of ME3's endings. This vandal trashed pretty much every Mass Effect wiki page on here and PMed death threats to everyone who tried to fix the pages, including yours truly.
I'm 99% sure that the vandal is the same person whose posts got thumped last page btw. They come back every few months.
So the old admin decided to ban all discussion of ME3's single player campaign on the forums. However, that rule has never really been enforced beyond closing the dedicated Mass Effect 3 forum thread.
I still think it might be best to ask the mods here if that particular topic is still banned. That way the rules can be updated as well.
The endings have been discussed civilly here since then. It feels more like a rule that's only enforced when there's a problem.
If you feel the need to check with a mod, be my guest. I think my point still stands that, while I didn't say what went wrong specifically, it is still true that a chunk of the Fandom still doesn't like either the endings or ME 3 in general or the endings alone exist and the controversy itself will still haunt the series.
EA's been touchy with franchises lately. I remember some controversy over it being suggested that EA would pull the plug on the Sims franchise if The Sims 4 wasn't a massive success despite The Sims 2 and The Sims 3 being pretty popular.
I could see EA pulling something similar with Andromeda when that got green lit; "Make a successful soft reboot or well Torch the Franchise and Run".
Since Andromeda wasn't the success of ME 2 or ME 1 and the memes popped up, it wasn't the success they wanted.
EA has definitely been antsy with their franchises for the past few years. It wouldn't surprise me if Sim City is done for good, and I know that The Sims 4 has seen immense drop off since release. Though I'm surprised they haven't tried to re-release Mass Effect as a remastered set.

What EA wants out of a franchise is their own Assassin's Creed, Destiny, or whatever MMO could be called a successor to WOW might be. They want something they can milk on a pretty much yearly basis like they do with their sports titles and Battlefield and whatnot.
Well, they can always gobble up some more studios. That always works, I'm told.
...If you would like to discuss Witcher 3 or Breath of the Wild, you should probably do so in their respective threads, rather than here.
Also, maybe ease up on the double and triple posting?
So, um, question - can anyone justifiably dislike Andromeda in your eyes?
