Chapter 109: A very nice battle sequence between Captain America and Red Skull. Death God really went all out when weaponizing himself. The Pin Missile barrage seems like a bigger hassle to "carry around" than the Finger Gun.

Another flaw to add to Death God's growing list of weaknesses: He was so confident in his abilities that he decided against wearing a codpiece. I know you need those testosterone stores for muscle mass, but at least keep them protected...

I think on some level I'm having more fun right now reading those little bits of context-free spoilers then I am the actual manga. :P The days the scanlators actually catch up will be a sad day indeed (maybe).

"It's not an assassination classroom without a proper bitch" is probably one of the most convoluted yet relevant morals of the series thus far. wild mass guess Operation: Final Assassin is either gonna be a giant, city-wide Ritsu or an energy plant for Shiro's tiny army of tentacle humans.

As fun as this arc was, I can't wait to get back to some good 'ol slice-of-school-life with Koro-sensei. It feels like it's been months since they've been in school.

First chapter, official release free preview.

Two pages in and my eyebrows are already going up at some of the translation choices. So, they decided to change it to make things familiar to American students. The term "homeroom" is not used except in the chapter title, and instead of day duty the students stand for the pledge, which is not something Japanese students do.

Though I do enjoy that Koro-sensei uses the term "spray and pray."

The SFX for Koro-sensei's looking-down-on face: wom wom.

Oh, they kept the yen exclamation mark that was removed in the scanlation. That's good.

They seem to treat 10 billion yen as being equal to 10 billion dollars. Of course, a yen is actually roughly equivalent to an American penny. Still, when you think about it, 100 million dollars to save the entire planet is pretty damn cheap, isn't it?

Nagisa's best line in the scanlation:
"I bet I could kill him. I mean, this teacher doesn't even see me as a hitman."
And in the official.
"I might actually be able to kill him. After all, he'll ignore me until it's too late."
The scanlation's version is much closer to the original. It's also far more ominous, and therefore better. It sounds more like something someone resolving to commit a murder for money would think.

No honorifics, as expected, but everyone seems to be addressed by the same names as in the original. So, last names for everyone except Nagisa for now.

One line surprisingly came out a bit harder than in the scanlation. Reminds me of something out of a certain fanfiction.
Nagisa: I'd kill for that chance.

And another... rather less. [lol] Though in this case it's because they seem to feel the need to fill all ... and ...! speech bubbles with actual words.
Koro-sensei: Yoiks!

Unlike in the scanlation, Terasaka acts like he'll be getting the whole of the 10 billion instead of just a share, which is actually what is said in the raws. I guess the scanlation changed it to make him seem more reasonable.

This is really nitpicky, but two of the nameplates from the students' houses are wrong. Takebayashi's is shortened to Kebayashi, and Touka Yada's is changed to Mata. Not sure how they made a mistake like that. Messed up Kayano's too, though I guess they could only see the back end of it, so they changed the back to the front. And then Takebayashi's changes the direction the letters are written in a later panel.

And they fully explained the pun of Koro-sensei's name, as one would expect.

...Eh, it was okay. I'd say not particularly inspired, but not incompetent. Still, for the big ticket lines like the one I mentioned as Nagisa's best, I very much prefer the scanlation for the reasons I explained before.

As someone who is oblivious to the original Japanese wording, I liked the localization in general. The wording feels more comfy and familiar, and I think they did a good job making Karma's dialogue sound a bit more mischievous. They even pulled a slick move in the last chapter by replacing an obscure Japanese pop-culture reference with a familiar one that's even more appropriate in context; it's probably a bit dated, but still pretty funny even if you don't get the reference.

My only pet peeve: Koro-sensei refers to the knives and bullets as "Anti-'Me'" material.

Really?

I'm not saying it's bad, but I didn't see anything in the first chapter that made me really grin and feel like they'd brought their A-game to the writing. I haven't read the rest of the first volume yet, but I hope to get a copy for Christmas.

111 is out.

And if you haven't seen them yet, someone on tumblr did 112 and 113 from the Chinese scanlation (so there are a couple errors, but it's mostly correct).

Really appreciate it, but as fantastic as that cliffhanger was (can't wait to hear Koro-sensei's reply), I'm gonna wait for the usual guys to crank out the next chapter; if it's not out by next Wednesday or so then I'll give it a look. As for Ch. 111, I mistook the lady with the really nice hairstyle for a brand new character.

Nagisa should definitely consider a part time career as a magician, because Bloodlust + Slight-of-Hand = wonderful stage presence. As for that move...did he somehow pick that up from the Go D? The imagery looks familiar.

113 is probably the darkest chapter so far in the entire series.

I think Matsui strives more to impress the readers, than to create a good story. It's so exaggerated that it seems he is screaming, "HEY, GUYS, LOOK HOW DARK I AM, LOOK AT ME, PLEASE!". In Sket Dance, for example, these heavier and dramatic issues were treated much more naturally.

It is dark but then Nagisa returns to being his usual awesome self in 114 where he walks through fire unscathed and defeats another pro assassin with scornful ease.

[up] Yep. Always. That's why the characters are so weak. Their dramas are not intrinsic to them. Everything seems too artificial, just to please the audience with dark&edgy stuff. But when it comes to creating an engaging plot... bleh.

New preview. Nagisa's voice seems to have been toned down a bit. Also, unlike in the manga, the destroyed moon is shown with a debris belt around it.

Is that motherfucking Jun Fukuyama I'm hearing? I kind of expected Norio Wakamoto due to how well he played the exact same character in 2x2 Shinobuden, but I'm more than satisfied with this decision.

Based on the PV, the effort put into this is leaps and bounds above whatever they did for the OVA. The OP is pretty catchy too.

I wonder if the organization that made the Special Arms Against Unidentified Slimy Octopus will ever become prominent in the manga.

So, Koro-sensei or Korosensei or Koro Sensei? Discuss.

I've always called him Koro-sensei with the hyphen, because that's the way you usually type honorifics. But I could see writing it without the hyphen, since it's not really a title. It's his name, and he's never referred to by any other name.

I can get behind the hyphen or the single word. Stylizing it as two words is just silly.

Koro-sensei > Korosensei >> Koro Sensei >>>>>>> Kuro-sensei and all of its misspelled variants.

Just found out that this series is also getting a Nintendo 3DS game and a smartphone game (how are you even supposed to win those?). Japan must really like this series if it's already getting all of this promotional stuff before the anime comes out.

I spell it Korosensei because I think it is a single name that is a pun on "korosenai" and "sensei", others feel like his name is tecnically Koro and he is addressed Koro-Sensei.

I still can't stand Nagisa's voice. With so many female seiyu that can pull off a young boy's voice they picked the one that can't? Seems ridiculous to me.
