I've been replaying both Red Alert 2 and Red Alert 3, and I've uncovered a critical weakness in the vaunted Akula Submarines. While they can fire their Ultra-torpedoes while submerged, they must surface to fire regular torpedoes, rendering them vulnerable to surface and air units. Typhoons don't. The only time they surface is when they're attacked, and even then they're not auto-targeted.
I'm tsundere for Sui-Feng.Incorrect. Partially, at least...while Red Alert 2 units are not dependent on secondary abilities to be effective (apart from G Is), they still require interdependence to be truly effective. Dreadnoughts without Sea Scorpion and Typhoon support are easy prey for Allied warships, and even Apocalypse Tanks without V3 support will be shredded by heavy defense emplacements.

I'm tsundere for Sui-Feng.Hahahahahahahahahahahah!!!!!.....wait you're serious. V3's lose to even the most minute of air defenses. Slap down 2 Patriot batteries and you need 6 V3's just to hit once. Slap down more than three AA weapons (not hard) and no amount of V3's will get through.
They're only good or useful if your enemy doesn't realize AA defenses counter V3's. And Apocalypse tanks in Red Alert 2 are good enough you can use them like a battering ram on enemy defenses with them alone. (You can counter Yuri defenses with just throwing some cheap disposable shit like Flak Tracks or Conscripts at the towers before sending your Apocs in to kill the towers. Either that or contain the Yuri turtle and nuke him.)
I am not sending expensive Apocalypse Tanks into the teeth of Prism/Tesla/Psychic Towers. I usually use an Iron Curtain for a quick hit-and-run with Rhinos to knock out anti-air to allow my V3s to knock out those damned heavy guns. Then, as the Apocalypse Tanks say - "It is day of judgment."
I'm tsundere for Sui-Feng.I've never used V3s, too ineffective, vunerable and easy to counter. They can't even hit some of the slower moving targets accurately. I've found that the Siege choppers or hordes of expendable units do a better job at cracking defenses. Or if you're playing vanilla RA 2, mind-controlling a few of the enemy's cheaper units, using them as fodder, and then taking control of the ones that come out to counter you as well. It's worked wonders, and I've got a few good stories in the past about how well those suckers work in a Soviet mirror-match.
Ah, I see. You were actually complementing the Patriot battery's ability to do that.
Yeah, it would be nice if the missile defense systems in C&C Generals (aside from the Point Defense Lasers) were more intelligent and aware. I've seen one too many an occasion where they all go after the same damn SCUD missile, and let all the others pass through... and that's IF they even fired at all!
