Well, I've made a new party: Paladin,Ranger,Lark and Cleric. Paladins have the str of a fighter with the healing spells of a cleric, rangers can use arcane and prayer magic as well as physical combat with thief skills (all classes into 1), larks have the str of a fighter with arcane spells of a wizard and clerics are the healing class with its prayers.
I found a way to get easy gold : go to yew, west of Lord British castle, and kill the first cleric you see. There are no guards in this town so abuse it to your heart's content. Also, when you fight orcs, use the first spell of a wizard type class to get rid of them instantly and get a lot of exp. When you fight undeads, use the first cleric spell for the same effects.
Try to use an all-around party. With these easy tricks, it's easy to manage your party and level up now.

Oooh, thanks for that. Time to kill me some Clerics.
Though, I should point out that the anti-Orc spell is very inaccurate, at least in the GOG-version.
Join us in our quest to play all RPG video games! Moving on to disc 2 of Grandia!...the combat is still in real time?
while i have to control 4 seperate characters whom i can just barely distinguish in the graphics?
this will not turn out well.
Has anyone found the woman in Devil Guard that gives you Bribe? I've searched all over that place, and I can't find her. The guides say she's at the Hospital, but there's no one there but the Healer, and the Thief out back doesn't say anything different no matter how many times I talk to him.
EDIT: Actually, I'm starting to think that's only a thing in the NES-version.

Join us in our quest to play all RPG video games! Moving on to disc 2 of Grandia!Today marks 1 month since we started the project. We've played 6 games on the list Congratulations!
Yay! That's a pretty good pace.
Speaking of pace, anyone found a boat yet?
Join us in our quest to play all RPG video games! Moving on to disc 2 of Grandia! You don't need a boat! All you need to travel across seas is this !◊ It's more than enough! Also, there's only one for your party of four, get over it
So, nah, didn't find one myself , actually ^^
You have to steal from pirates. Kill everyone on board and it's yours Go to the whirlpool and find the islands with shrines on it. There you can level up your atributes but to earn HP, you need to visit Lord British.
Yeah, but I haven't found any pirates either. The guides say that they should start appearing when I'm high enough level, and my Ranger is currently 5 (she's got the Mark of Lords, so she can get some more) so I wonder how much longer.

Join us in our quest to play all RPG video games! Moving on to disc 2 of Grandia!Wow, level 5 already. What do you suggest? I'm level 2 and grinding for money to get equipments.
Well, keep on grinding on the Clerics, first of all. They're the best source of Exp and Gold I've found thus far. Equip your fighters with Bows (Clerics and Wizards can't use them, note), as ranged attacks are as OP as ever. When you feel like you're getting control over things like food, HP and stuff like that, try to seek out Dawn or Devil Guard to buy four Horses (I forget how much it is, but it's expensive). That will make you go faster on land and save you a lot of food (unlike in Ultima II, you can also use them in towns). When you feel brave enough, seek out the Perinian dungeon, which is just to the East of British' castle. Get a map online and some torches and find the Mark of Kings on the first floor, which will enable levelling HP past level 5 (just so you're ready).
And then go back to grinding until Pirates appear.

Join us in our quest to play all RPG video games! Moving on to disc 2 of Grandia!Any tips to encounter more monsters? They are so rare, I need some orcs and undeads to raise my spellcasters.
None thus far, sorry. My Cleric is horrendously underleveled as a result. Maybe there are more in the lower levels of the Dungeons.
If you've got a Wizard, though, use his B or F-spells instead of just searching for Orcs. Those offensive spells are very effective on all opponents, including the Yew-Cleric.

Join us in our quest to play all RPG video games! Moving on to disc 2 of Grandia! All my characters are level 5 now with 550 HP. Heading for Ambrosia now, I just need to find the damn whirlpool. Don't level up more than level 5 because the monsters will get too tough for you to handle. Raise your stats first on Ambrosia.
I'll get right onto that...once I find a pirate.
Join us in our quest to play all RPG video games! Moving on to disc 2 of Grandia! So hard to find pirate ships. Never saw one on this playthrough, strange. Am I doing something wrong?
I HAVE DELVED DEEP BENEATH THE EARTH. MY SPELLS HAVE SCORCHED THE WALLS, AND MY ARROWS LITTER THE FLOOR. NOW I HAVE EMERGED FROM THE DUNGEON OF FIRE, BEARING THE THIRD OF FOUR MARKS. ONLY ONE REMAINS, THE MARK OF THE SNAKE.
...STILL NO F*CKING PIRATES.
Join us in our quest to play all RPG video games! Moving on to disc 2 of Grandia!Have you checked under the boot?
Donate money to Skullgirls, get a sweet poster....which boot?
Join us in our quest to play all RPG video games! Moving on to disc 2 of Grandia!Try to level up at Lord British. I found another way of earning easy money: Go to the town of gray and steal all 4 chests at east of town. Then get out before the guards get you.
If you need to ask, I assume you haven't.
I don't know, I was just messing with you all.

Donate money to Skullgirls, get a sweet poster.@Steendy: Do they require Keys, or can I use the Cleric's B-spell?
@fakeangel: 'sigh' Okay...

Tips to win this game: GET A CLERIC!
Seriously, healing is horribly expensive at the hospitals, so save yourself A LOT of money by getting a Cleric/Priest. Also, they get the Open spell for chests, which means that you can open chests and get sweet money without inviting pain and death. Money which can be used on equipment and ('sigh') food.
