The kid stumbled a bit to the side and mumbled a "sorry" before going on walking and speeding up his pace a bit.

Pausing where he stood for a few seconds, John watched the man out of his peripheral vision before trailing behind him at a safe distance.

The gang member got into an alley and said "Keira" loudly.

By the time John got there, he was gone.

Turning the corner, John was greater with an empty ally; giving the immediate area a quick once over, he shoved his hands back in his pocket and walked away.

Despite being deep in thought and trudging through the snowy downtown streets, John continued to keep track of his surroundings. The incident from earlier in.the day still fresh on his mind, he began to race through the various scenarios that played out in.his head.

Still waiting from a call from his contact, he pulled his coat tighter around his body and.melted into the moving masses.

John's phone received a message at last.

"Lead in Okotoks. Check Library Woods .

Avoid News."

Quickly making his way back to the hotel, John grabbed his bags, and packed them onto his motercycle. Double checking the route he planned to take, he revved the engine and began his journey south.

Nico was, as is incredibly common, bored. He flew high into the air, looking for anything of possible interest.

The ride down south passed by quickly, and in a few hours John found himself riding through the outskirts of the town. Searching until he found a diner, he rode into the parking lot before locking up his bike and striding in through the doors.

Taking a seat at the far end of the bar, he began to check out his surroundings before motioning at a waitress to take his order. "Coffee; black, lots of sugar." He said as he opened a menu "One more thing Hon; where's the closest library?"

Nico saw a very small young girl with pink hair on one of the rooftops. The hair was bright— like all the other gang members', but she didn't seem to be doing anything except sitting on a roof watching the cleanup happen.

"Just on Riverside drive, past the church" The waitress told John before leaving to get his coffee.

Nico flew towards the pink-haired person, close enough to observe them better, in order to see if they were doing anything significant other than sitting there. There was a fair risk of her noticing him, but he didn't really consider it.

Nico could see the pink haired girl's hands and arms were glowing and she seemed to be muttering things as she watched, but aside from that she didn't look like she was going to do anything notable anytime soon.

John took out his phone and pulled up the surrounding area on him map, taking hid time, he began to plot a route to the library.

Nico flew closer still and landed on the rooftop. He had nothing better to do, so he may as well just randomly approach people.

John was pleasantly surprised when he discovered that he was only a block away from Riverside Drive. It'd take a little under seven minutes to get to the Okotoks public library.

The girl remained unaware of him, focused on the street beneath them. Now that he was closer, Nico could hear some of what she was saying. It looked like she was having a conversation, though there was no phone on sight.

"I'm on a roof you flying monkey, and the cops are busy getting to all the shops Brian hit or something, so it's not like they're paying attention to me... Well obviously— dick. Yes I am. I am too— when I get to camp, I am so kicking your ass..." She paused and lowered her head, peeking over the border of the roof before sliding backwards over the floor, still oblivious about Nico's presence. She listened, giving the occasional "uhuh" for a bit, and then going back to talking.

"Well he's still alive, that much I know. Probably has a giant concussion though. I can only do that if they're willing, moron, else you'd be my personal slave by now... Ugh, that crazy woman and Mr. deceptively strong are somewhere in the homeless place."

One of the volunteers at the centre walked up to Todd when he asked for the phone "Here, use mine." He said, throwing an iPhone at him softly before running to the side to get a broom.

Nico decided to just keep eavesdropping the girl. She sounded suspicious, and wasn't noticing the human firefly.

Todd caught the phone like a champ. After taking a few moments to negotiate the touchscreen (his personal phone had regular buttons), he called up his boss.

"Hey, it's Todd. Look, I got caught up earlier in mutant attack and my car is pretty banged up. I'm down at the homele-...drop in center helping to fix up some of the damage."

The girl kept talking. "...Well, if that were true then you wouldn't have a limp... You totally have a limp... I have seen you walking dude, you do so have a—" The girl paused. "No, shut up, I think I heard something." She tilted her head for a moment and leaned forward nearer to the edge of the building "...you know what, nevermind. Send Keira here, I think I'm not gonna get much else here"

Todd's boss didn't seem too bothered by the news "Um... Okay then, but I'm not paying you for hours you spend not-working. Good to hear you're fine, Todd. See ya in two days, no working in family day, remember?"

Nico continued to spy and eavesdrop on the girl.

A purple headed girl spontanteously appeared on the rooftop. "I'm here, lets— Who's this?" She asked, pointing at Nico. The other girl noticed him for the first time now too and was now looking at him with her arms crossed.

"No idea" She said as she started walking towards him. "Who would you be, bug-man?"

This was inevitable. "A source of light you took a while to notice. No offence, but I'm essentially a human firefly, quite the conspicuous mutant. Now, referring to the person sitting there talking on a rooftop and a suddenly appearing person, when a crime recently occurred nearby, you seem rather suspicious."

Keira looked at Nico for a moment, then glanced back at the pink-haired girl. "Is he for real?" She asked, and the other girl just shrugged.

Keira, the girl with purple hair, dark brown eyes, and baggy clothing, walked up to Nico. "So we're suspicious, are we? Who you think you are, a cop?" The other girl chuckled, then Keira turned to her "How'd you not notice this thing?".

"I—I— I was looking the other way!" She said, lifting her hands and gesticulating. "He could have been a giant purple elephant and I wouldn't have noticed. Besides, it's like noon now, it's super bright."

Keira's palm connected to her forehead before she sighed. "Yeah—we're leaving now. Bye-bye bug boy" Keira told him, grabbing onto the pink haired girl's hand and teleporting away. Nico had been close enough and with enough time to grab one of them and tag along if he wanted.

Oh, now they were asking for it. He grabbed them as they teleported.

Nico found himself in the woods near the Okotoks Public Library. There were people a few meters away, a whole camp. There were several rough tents and people were gathered around a clearing with a fire, cooking some sausages.

Keira noticed he was there and tensed— giving him a good warning that she was about to attack him. "You followed us? Who the hell do you think you are?" She said, aimed a fast fist at his face.

Nico attempted to block and retaliate by kicking her.

"You are very careless and very suspicious. And, frankly, rather rude."
